Shock Video: Man Repeatedly Robbed After Passing Out on NY Sidewalk

Rather than offering a helping hand to someone clearly in need, countless individuals repeatedly robbed a man whom they found passed out on a Port Chester, New York, sidewalk. The bizarre incidents were captured on video and suspects are currently being sought by police, as some in the local community express outrage and surprise at the lack of humanity observed in the footage.

Instead of phoning paramedics to get assistance for the man, local bar patrons stole a chain off of his neck, snatched his belt,Β purportedlyΒ stole a watch — and took everything and anything they could get their hands on. The troubling scene is disheartening, especially considering that no one robbing 38-year-oldΒ Sergio Palacios knew the status of his condition.

Police officers are vocally outraged at what the video showcases, as they claim to be going over the video in an effort to find the culprits and bring them to justice.Β Port Chester Police Chief Joseph Krezeminski, for one, is infuriated.

β€œPeople are rifling through his pockets looking for valuables. At one point he has a watch on; then he doesn’t have it,”Β Krezeminski told CBS New York. “Maybe after the first or second attempt there was no more to steal.”

And the police chief isn’t alone in his frustration over what occurred. Sean McNerney, the man who recorded the video and alerted authorities, was equally troubled by what he saw.

Watch some of the footage, below:

“This poor man,” McNerney said in an interview with CBS New York. “Nobody knows if he’s sick. Nobody knows if he’s hurt.”

Now here’s the real shocker — even after the robberies, Palacios remained passed out on the sidewalk for hours. From just before 2:30 a.m. to just before 6 a.m. on the morning of the incident, no one came to his rescue. When the man awoke, he staggered into a neighbor’s backyard. The homeowner called the police and,Β startlingly, the man — who had been stripped of his wallet and all of his belongings — was arrested for trespassing.

Authorities are currently looking into potentially dropping the trespassing charge, as they seek out those individuals who robbed Palacios. Currently, police are also doing an internal investigation to see how it’s possible that no patrol cars noticed the man as he lay outdoors, prone to attacks and robberiesΒ throughoutΒ the night.

It’s a shame the guy went to NY City and not Oklahoma City. Here 1 out of 4 have carry permits and are packing. Someone would have stepped up and held them till the police got there. Our Governor Mary Fallon just signed into law open carry that starts on Nov. 1St. My wife carrys a Lady Smith and I carry a Judge loaded with .45 and .410′s. This is just another reason to avoid NYC. Only people that carry are police, body guards and thugs.

America isn’t a cesspool, New York is a cesspool.

This would not have happened in St. Peters, MO. It COULD not have happened. It’s simply unthinkable.

I can’t imagine being gutless enough to film this happening and not walk out to stand over the man with at least a baseball bat in hand. “Inhumanity” only scratches the surface.

Unfortunately, stories like this tend to make one feel that the world is a totally sick place and that the barbarians are winning. It’s worth noting that there are many examples of good Samaritans out there (look up Victor Perez, Hasan Askari, Julien Duret, Wesley Autrey, Horia Cretan, Bennie Newton, or Ryan Young).

While you are somewhat right about the condition of people, you also have to consider time and place. Big city late at night, nobody out but the riff raff. All the decent people are at home in bed because they have to work in the morning.

Exactly. When a guy gets passing out drunk on a city street, it’s hard to feel too sorry for him. Somebody should have called the cops no doubt, but he’s got nobody to blame but himself. Unfortunately, if he had been in a diabetic coma, the same thing would have happened and he probably would be dead.

Not going to make any friends here , but please correct me if I’m wrong … didn’t Jesus die for this guy? If one does not have compassion for one such as this then you have a heart condition and should see a doctor … I believe it’s called hardening of the heart and is caused by self- righteousness. The cure is easy ….well maybe not … at any rate… just lay off the “self”, and that will help … good health to you…

This no doudt is true GONZO …but do you tell me that you walk by this person and offer no help. You even said yourself that one would have no idea why this person is laying there. Nothing self righteous about what I said, so don’t throw that back on me. The “woes” are up to God to dish out. We are called to help the helpless; he seemed a little helpless. If you try to help somebody and they refuse it so be it ….and futher being heros at drinking indicates a habit, this guy made have had his wife murdered, found out his daughter has terminal cancer and went out and got himself blitzed and was not A HERO AT DRINKING. And who warned him?
Except you go help (maybe because of the omnicience of God in more ways then you know)) and tell him of his sin and the saviour from it.

      Agreed.

It takes effort and sacrifice to be good. Plus doing the right thing is rarely fun. Love, faith, hope, charity are not natural to man. These qualities are supernatural.

EHD, I hate to sound in any way like I am proving your point for you, but…

Go to HELL you freaking nutjob!!!

I am not a regular churchgoer, but I do believe in God. And what I know is that more often than not, it is the churchgoer and simple follower who will go along with bad things every day of the year. I’m pretty sick of you people and your religious zealotry. Oh, and by the way, a more famous man than you said that for a good man to do evil, it takes religion. And that is backed up by proof. All the way from the castration of boys in the Catholic choirs a few hundred years ago, through the Salem witch trials, and into today when you have the Pope himself promoting a one world government and monetary system.

Men can be good or evil without God’s influence. And if you believe in God, then you should remember that he gave you free will to do with as you will. He is not pulling your strings like a puppeteer. Too many who go to church are told that what they do is what God wants. When in reality, you are supposed to be learning what God wants and applying it to your life, not looking at your life and supposing that is the way God wants it. To be true, a man does not need to have a belief in a God in order to be a good person, and you know it.

I dont think you understand what EHD said.

he spoke biblical truth. Reaad the book of james, and you might understand.

Let us not forget that Jesus also rebuked the religious crowd. he called them whited seplacures full of dead mens bones.

EHD was not praising the “religious crowd”. He stated that man in his natural form is a sinner. Those that truely get close to God, are the ones that are not going to commit the evil.

No values, no morals, no sense of community, this is the LIBERAL way. I abhor what has become of our country. The LIBERALS have taken God out of our lives, and this is a direct result of those actions. May God forgive us all. Conservative Americans have a hand in this too, we fell asleep at the wheel and let these HEATHENS take over, what a shame.
