Wait Until You See the Photoshopped Image That Appeared on a Chinese Website
Altering an image — commonly called Photoshopping — is all too common. But some haven’t quite figured out how to make the alterations not be so glaringly obvious. Take this Chinese website for example, which may have just produced one of the most obvious Photoshop jobs we’ve seen.
Business Insider gives the background:
Earlier this month, the local Hangzhou Yuhang’s website wanted to post an image to show local government officials inspecting “Nanhu beach park’s landscape optimization project”, according to China Hush.
A worthy aim perhaps, but inexplicably, the government workers chose to feature a crude Photoshop to illustrate its point.
Here are the two pictures. This is the original:
And now here is the altered version:
If you’re asking yourself Why did they Photoshop the picture? you’re not the only one. It’s pretty mind-boggling. The website has issued an apology, but it makes about as much sense as using the altered picture (translation via Business Insider and China Smack):
May 9th, my company submitted the news manuscript of the “Completion and Transfer of the Green Landscaping Project of Nanhu Beach Park” to the Yuhang District Government Portal Website, along with photographs of technicians on location conducting inspections. Due to unsuitable work processes, there were serious mistakes in the uploaded photograph. With regards to the errors of our work, we deeply express our apologies: We sincerely accept the criticizes of the netizen masses, and wholeheartedly appreciate the concern netizens have given us.
China isn’t the only one, though. You may remember the doctored photo that showed up after the funeral for North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il:
The first one is the original, the second is the altered one. See the difference? the group of men hanging out in the back on the left have been removed.
And then there’s another one that’s started to circulate this week form what appears to be a magazine article. Styleite posted it with the title, “Surfer Tragically Loses Arm to Photoshop Shark”:
It’s reportedly from the June issue of Marie Claire.
If you happen to come across other egregious examples, send them our way.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 12:38pmThe lesson to learn from this news is that “There is no respect for the Truth” in other parts of the world. If we know that, then we are no longer shocked, over and over again, by “People skirting around man-made laws.” That is what is happening in America now. Once we realize that, then we will know to use God’s Law, Nature’s Law, and teach morality to our young. Or else, we, and our next generations, will be suffering from this human created Hell forever.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 11:25amIt’s funny, but it’s even more pathetic than funny. The Chinese are notorious for these types of charades. Truth is irrelevant. Image is everything. I don’t blame the Chinese. I don’t even think it’s an Asian thing. In reality, it’s a Communist thing. Remember “the ends justify the means”? That is the Chinese way.
My favorite was when Beijing officials kicked all the homeless out of the city before the 2008 Olympics so people would think the city was a paradise. They spent big $ on pollution alleviation efforts in Beijing, while shamelessly blasting smoke and carcinogens into the atmosphere just outside of town. Even on a clear day in East China, the sunlight struggles to reach the ground. And then, of course, there was the “not-so-cute” Chinese girl that sang during the Olympics….but she sang offstage and had a more visually appealing girl on the stage in front of the crown pretending like she was doing the singing. Watching the Chinese Olympic Committee scramble when this was discovered was rather enjoyable.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 10:12amOne thing they didn’t photoshop in these photo was the sky. It would have been easy enough to make the sky look blue, but they didn’t. Now you’re thinking the photos were taken on an overcast day aren’t you. Actually, no. Coal plant exhaust makes the skies in the eastern, industrial part of the country look gray like that almost 365 days a year. You can be there for weeks and never see the sun.
Now, if that’s what you want for the US, vote Republican.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 10:52am1st, the sky is gray because of the camera’s exposure. In order for the people to be exposed correctly you have to over expose the sky.
2nd, I will vote republican because the alternative isn’t offering a viable solution other than to sit at home and watch your roof rot and cave while waiting for the tooth fairy to pump out free electricity and free electric cars.

Sorry Pontiac, but JZS is 100% correct. You do not see blue skies over there like you do in the states. I’ve lived in Nanjing and near Guangzhou and traveled extensively throughout the country. Even a sunny, “blue” day is different than ours. The blue is more grey-blue, and it’s near impossible to get rid of all the haze. It’s a different story if you travel up to Inner Mongolia (beautiful!) or out West, but in the populated east side of China, this is the reality.

But actually, he’s wrong about his last sentence. See, Libs think that Conservatives don’t like a clean world just because we won’t buy into their liberal agenda global warming hoax. But we all know what the grounds looked like after Restoring Honor in DC, versus what happens EVERY time the Libs congregate for something. Plus, if you think OWS is going to save the planet, JZS, get a clue!

You can look at any number of photos around the world and draw the same false conclusions JZS did simply because the skies are overexposed… Yes their air is dirty, not because of coal, but because of how they burn it. Hell they’ll skin a puppy alive and cook it over a burning pile of tires and little would be done about it. But we’re not dirtying our skys car tire BBQ’s and charred puppy flesh so that puts us way ahead. Environuts are only going after our coal industry because of ~gasp~ CO2.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 10:41pmLetUsReason, thanks for your post. You’ve been there and know the reality.
But, no, I wasn’t talking about global warming. I was talking about pollution. specifically coal plant emmission but other emmissions too, such as from automobiles. The Republicans want to role back government restrictions on those emmissions, allowing more. Sadly, this country has already had smog like that in China in cities such as LA and Denver, smog which is now is now gone thanks to government regulations. But memories are short.
It points up a difference between the left and right. When the US or China place an emphasis on companies making the most money possible, and relax or refuse to enact restrictions on emissions, companies make more money, but citizens of those countries not only inhale those toxic fumes, they also can’t see the sun and blue skies.
Do you want companies to maximize profits or for people to have a better standard of living, including breathing clean air and seeing blue skies?
China, you probably know is working hard to reduce the the toxicity of their air and give their citizens more access to blue skies. The US, it appears, is moving in the opposite direction.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 9:54amAll too true with our media; now in the case with China, I can see one of two ways – a legitimate mistake and a reeducation camp pending for the offender, or this could be a deliberate ‘goof’ to see what the various world media and sources will make of it. In the latter case, a controlled test in the offering.
Something does not make sense.
