Jesse Jackson Compares Gov. Walker to Segregationist & Invokes Lynching of Emmett Till

Leave it to Jesse Jackson to speak in grandiose, racial terms when it comes to the Wisconsin recall election. And it’s not just the Right that’s taking notice (although the reason is quite different).

On Ed Schultz’s MSNBC program on Monday, the host talked glowingly of Jackson’s recent statements, summarizing some and playing others:

Yes, that’s Schultz paraphrasing Jackson as saying, “He called this election one of the biggest moments in the history of our democracy. He compared it to Emmett Till’s Lynching and Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat.” And of course he then played the audio of Jackson comparing Walker to segregationist Alabama governor George Wallace.

The Weekly Standard has a paraphrase of what happened during Jackson’s speech:

Two days before the election, a crowd of 250 Democratic and union activists gathered to hear from Reverend Jackson and a host of left-wing leaders. The crowd applauded mightily when one union leader compared Scott Walker’s reforms to the attacks on 9/11. They rose to their feet when a local teachers union head screamed that Walker is a serial liar. And they cheered wildly when Jackson compared Walker to segregationist Alabama governor George Wallace.

“So now you have a governor,” Jackson thundered. “Wallace did it in Alabama and now Walker in Wisconsin – trying to take back access to vote.”

[...]

In many ways, Jackson was the most moderate of the speakers who addressed the crowd, his comparison of Walker to George Wallace notwithstanding. ”There are these defining moments,” Jackson said, ”big moments in the history of our democracy.” He drew a line from Emmett Till’s lynching to Rosa Parks’s civil disobedience to Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech and, finally, Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention on August 28, 2008, “another big day.” The June 5, 2012 recall would be yet another big day, he said.

As the Standard notes, the shocking statements weren’t just coming from Jackson. During the same meeting, someone invoked 9/11 to say that those greedy, rich bankers never saved anyone’s lives during threat World Trade Center attack (ignoring the fact that Walker’s collective bargaining reforms do not apply to the police and firefighters’ unions):

Hanley continued: “On September 11, when we were attacked, I didn’t see any bankers running up the stairs to save lives. … Rev. Jackson, I looked really hard to find somebody from Wall Street only a few blocks away from the trade center who would run over and save a life. I couldn’t find any. There were none. It was the public workers…And now we have watched people including some politicians in this state turn public employees into a worse enemy than Osama bin Laden.”

But back to Jackson.

When Schultz asked Jackson why he compared Walker to Wallace, he based it on the idea of voter ID efforts: “One has tried to block the vote and lost, and Walker’s trying to stop the vote and will lose.”

Of course he also went on to invoke Martin Luther King and called collective bargaining a fundamental right. Watch the full interview below:

And instead of a 3 Mil. dollar deficit, you are now the proud owners of a 300 thou. surplus in revenue! And going up daily! So all I and the citizens of Wi. can say is (SHUT THE HELL UP! ) Recall your President, you unionized IDIOTS! Grow up, and respect your fellow citizens, and allow your Governor, to CONTINUE to improve your state! Step aside, and let the SMART people fix, what you ( DEM) dummies, screwed up!

You are not fooling anyone. Walker has single handedly suppressed education in that state more than it has ever been in the history of Wis. I guess what SW does shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone anymore. This time he decided to cut down on the University of Wisconsin College based in Oshkosh (UWO). So he took 3 million more dollars from the college to go for the state, while the UW systems already paid back the state 12 million more dollars. From what little amount of money that the state gave to the UW system, they gave it all back. So that means all of the students that are there or could possibly attend would have to pay out the pocket for the higher priced tuition, and not only the tuition but they will most likely make it harder to get accepted. The classes will have to be so larger, so for the students it means that it could possibly be harder to learn due to everyone and it will be harder to get one on one help from anyone. He is planning to cut a whopping One million dollars from Medicaid. This is health insurance for people with lower income. This cut will force many families to not be eligible due to the requirements. Not to mention that there will be an increase premium. So many families that are pretty poor won’t be able to afford this. Cutting out the health insurance that is intended for the poor seems kind of wrong for me. SW, is a douche bag who cares only about his agenda to make him and his supporters comfortable for life.

I am not going to read three pages of EXTREME POSESSED RIGHT WINGED BRAINWASHED GARBAGE. But I will say this, you all are the only ones who hate Al Sharpton and Jesse H=Jackson. Democrats love them and so do a lot of Independents. Some of you call Al Sharpton a racist, but know deep in your heart that he is far from a racist. nothing that comes from his mouth is ever putting down other races. Yet you al praise Rush Limbaugh a man who always says racial overtones and generalizations about black people. I wish you’d stop being so over the top and Grandiose as you call Jesse and stop showing your hypocrisy all the time.

I’ll be willing to bet not one single soul can point or quote to one thing that Al Sharpton has said that was racist. But I’ll be willing to bet you I can do this with good ole rush.

In the words of Mitt Romney, I’ll bet you 10,000 I can name Rush’s racist comments and none of you can name one racist thing Al has said.

Again, why is The Blaze giving credence to this man? Everything he says and does just serve to divide us. It’s hard for the rest of us not to get angry when all he does is spew hate. Personally, I’d like to hear less from these divisive types – and that includes the Racist-in-Chief.

Democrats are just so overly dramatic with their rhetoric, they cheapen the English language. I heard Walker’s laws referred to as “draconian” and “inhumane”. Just stupid talk. He did not ask anyone to NOT take a paycheck, just cut back a tad.

Jackson is not really concerned with the plight of his fellow black Americans; he of course is already rich. He is concerned about keeping them bound and voting for the Dems. Sad to see what has happened to the Dem party. It is also sad to me that no one talks about the history that originally the Dems were for keeping slavery and it was Lincoln a Republican that issued the law to free the slaves. Jackson wants to keep them brainwashed. I personally think this generation will get it and will stop the nonsense of keeping people bound to subsidiaries handed out by the government but will turn to their own self help and the help of GOD. GOD is our provider not the US government.
