Walters Apologizes for Trying to Help Sheherazad Jaafari,Former Bashar Al Assad Aide, Get CNN Job

Barbara Walters has apologized for trying to help a former aide to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad land a job in TV news in the United States.

Emails published in the the Telegraph show Walters tried to get Sheherazad Jaafari an internship on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” as well as a leg-up in the admissions process at Columbia University. Jaafari, the daughter of Syrian ambassador to the United States, had been a press aide to Assad and helped coordinate Walters’ interview with the Syrian president in December.

In a statement, the longtime ABC News correspondent acknowledged trying to help Jaafari after she came to the U.S. looking for a job. Jaafari did not end up at CNN or Columbia.

“I did offer to mention her to contacts at another media organization and in academia, though she didn’t get a job or into school,” Walters said. “In retrospect, I realize that this created a conflict and I regret that.”

According to the Telegraph, Jaafari was “part of a young circle of aides who advised Mr Assad to speak to the Western media as evidence of atrocities mounted….Jaafari wrote a list of talking points advising that the ‘American psyche can be easily manipulated’ if he were to make a limited expression of regret.”

In one email, Walters described Jaafari as “brilliant, beautiful, speaks five languages” and asked a Columbia journalism professor whether there was “anything you can do to help” speed her application through.

  I just sent a note to ABC on their website. On the form, the subject I chose was “I need more information”.
  
  I asked how they planned to handle her career in the future, and then detailed the issues. Everyone should do that. And to each and every commenter who’s reply is “why bother, they won’t listen anyway”, I hope you get hit by a bus.

Ms. Walters has long been an apologist for anything anti-American. This is not an apology for trying to get this guy a job, it is an apology for getting caught. This person, in her arrogance, believes that she is above anything so petty as the US Constitution.
I refer you to her interview a few years ago when she had to get someplace in Washington, DC for a meeting and was held up because President Bush’s motorcade. She complained to the police that she was much more important than the President and that they should open a space for her to get through. “Who does he think he is, King?

  It doesn’t get more arrogant and stupid than Barbara Walters.
  Imagine if say…an editor of the New York Times was given access to Adolf Hitler by one is his aides..and then that aide asked the editor of the New York Times to get him a job at the Los Angeles Times? And they gave each other “hugs” in their letters (the way Barbara put “hugs Barbara” in her emails to Jaafari) and the aide said that the editor was “like a father” to him?

Barbara Walters is as much of a low-life as Hillary Clinton! Seems they believe we should give all our money and jobs to foreigners. This is why we’re in the debt we’re in.
