Beck Challenges O’Reilly on Obama: ‘Come on, Say the M-Word…He’s a Marxist’

Glenn Beck Challenges Bill OReilly to Call Obama a Marxist On Thursday night, Glenn Beck appeared on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” where he chatted with host Bill O’Reilly about Barack Obama’s new campaign ad targeting African American voters, leadership and his new book “Cowards,” among other subjects. During the spirited exchange, Beck challenged O’Reilly to label the president a Marxist — a dare that the Fox host initially danced around.

The segment commenced with the two commentators talking about the campaign’s new ad, during which backup singers can be heard serenading the president. While Obama outlines his policy ideals, female voices sing, “We’ve got your back” over his voiceover.

“Here’s the problem with that ad. I mean it’s two-fold. In that ad they talked about…we’ve got your back Mr. President. Isn’t the president supposed to have our back?,” Beck asked O’Reilly. “Isn’t he the guy who’s supposed to be the guy who ensures that he’s watching our liberty and our life so no one comes and kills our family or kills us and nobody can scoop us off the streets in the middle of the night. Which, he’s not really doing either of those things.”

Beck went on to lament Obama’s alleged failed leadership, claiming that real leaders do not create and rely upon government dependence to captivate audiences and ensure votes.

“A real leader doesn’t snare you in and suck you in and say, ‘Depend on me, depend on me.’ A real leader says, ‘You’re better than this. You can Strive,” he added.

As the interview progressed, O’Reilly called Obama “a big government guy,” to which Beck had a major challenge for the Fox News host. Rather than going with such a benign term, Beck wanted O’Reilly to use a more hard-hitting label.

“Come on, say the m-word. Say the m-word. Say it. He’s a marxist. Say it, say it, Bill,” Beck challenged. ”After he loses to Mitt Romney, will you then say, ‘Okay, I think he might have been a marxist?”

“I dont think he’s a marxist, Beck. I think he’s a dedicated, liberal man who wants the government to call the shots,” O’Relly countered.

  I will admit Bill is soft on Obama, he won’t come out ‘totally’ against him – for ratings purposes! You do have to remember Bill IS FOR GUN CONTROL, and other liberal mandates, look to his interview with Dan Rather if you don’t believe me. BUT, he does out Obama at times and he is not a ‘true’ progressive in the sense of the word, but a sometimes left, sometimes right leaning independent. This of course is just an opinion, feel free to bash me LOL!

  C’mon….O’Reilly might be a little full of himself at times, but he is hardly a socialist liberal. He would be a good fit on MSNBC? Really? Have you watched Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, or Laurence O’Donnell? These people are off the charts…..and just because Bill falls closer to the center on a few issues, he’s MSNBC material? I’ll say to you all what I say to liberals….lay off the hyperbolic speech. You can make your point without muddying the waters of dialog.
  
  Secondly….if Bill is guilty of anything, its of playing by the rules of mass media. Yes, even FOX has their hands tied when it comes to PR issues, and are slaves to the ratings & advertisers. Consider this….there are organizations out there hanging on every word guys like Bill say, waiting for an opportunity to take something out of context and bully advertisers to pull $$$ from his show & FOX News as a whole. Saying Obama is a committed BIG GOV guy isn’t all the different than calling him a Marxist. The difference is, Media Matters will have a harder time twisting Bill’s description than Glenn’s.

  Bill may be beholden to the $$$, but it isn’t because he’s made his pile of money and is now free to “show his real feelings”.
  
  Apply a little critical thought to this…
  
  FOX News has the highest ratings out of all the cable news networks (by far). Because their ratings are the highest, FNC probably has a higher income from advertising dollars than every other cable news channel. As a result, the “talent” that work for FNC probably get paid more than their cohorts over at CNN or MSNBC. To keep the folks that they have, FNC has to continue to pay these guys large sums of money. Put short, FNC has to keep the revenue up to keep the ship afloat.
  
  If the network were to take a huge hit in ratings….it means they get less from advertisers. If they take a hit of losing advertisers (because someone some reporter / commentator said), they aren’t able to keep their commitments & maintain their profit margin.
  
  THAT’s why FNC has to walk that fine line of being an “alternative” to the left leaning main-stream media….yet within the bounds of the main-stream media.
  
  Glenn can say what ever he wants because his revenue stream is diversified among smaller advertisers (who are probably less sensitive to the demands of Media Matters) and paid subscribers. They can’t hold “we’ll get Kraft to pull funding if you say…” over Glenn’s head. They can for Bill Oreilly.

  O’Reilly wants to interview President Obama again, so he’s not going to say anything that he believes will up-set the White House, the President is very thinned skined, and cann’t take any criticism at all.

  I don’t think O’Reilly’s a progressive by any means, but i do think that he, without knowing it, is acting like a coward because we’ve been trained to do that to fit in with a progressive culture. Many of us have just woken up over the past 5 years, it takes time. It’s Much harder for someone on TV to be honest and go against the “culture” then it is for us common people.

O Reilly is a very wealthy entertainer; there is no substance to his beliefs or values. He is on TV to make millions and he found the conservative niche in tv and exploited it. It is ridiculous to expect O Reilly to express any opinion that will offend his liberal NYC buddies. Once a New Yorker always a New Yorker; he is a lot like Peggy Noonan a fellow New Yorker who onced worked for National Review and came out campaigning for Obama in 08. I deep sixed the O’Reilly factor several years ago when I got tired listening to him berating any conservative who dared criticize the Marxist-Moslem president of the democrat party.

O’Reilly tries to consistently come on as a tough guy TV personality but he too straddles the politically correct fence. Any moron knows Obama is not only a Muslim but he is; at a minimum, a Marxist if not a Communist. Pull your head out O’Reilly.

O’Reilly talks tough but when it comes down to it he won’t tell it like it is,he’s the same way with the slime ball Sharpton.Silly Billy isn’t looking out for anybody other than himself.

THIS is what’s so maddening about O’Reilly: In the case of Obama, where the evidence of his Marxist leanings is so blatant, a blind man could see, Bill will absolutely NOT call a spade, a spade. So what’s the deal? Is he afraid of losing ratings? I thought Bill was supposed to be looking out for ME! Anyway, THAT is why I no longer respect Bill O’Reilly; he’s nothing but a tool.

Bill O Reilly is the Neville Chamberlain of conservatism. Here is a man who was a history major and history teacher and cannot see the forest for the trees. “he’s just a dedicated liberal guy”…… and Obama has the same healthcare and gun control policies as Adolf Hitler. But Barry Obama is a nice guy…..Yeah right! Glenn has made the case and presented evidence that no one can actually refute and O Reilly just can’t acknowledge that some one that was not a teacher is smarter than him. He(Bil) has declared himself to be wise and has become the fool!

Beck needs to run the Bill Ayers ‘ ” every day I get hope hoping to destroy capitalism” video and the Joe the Plumber/ Obama ” redistribution ” video. Our closet, Far Left ” call them whatever” Democrats are playing word games while destroying our economy with their ” redistribution” and their War on Capitalism policies. Like Bill Clinton, our Far Left Democrats dance economic angels on pin heads while PC debating what the ” meaning of Marxism….. is.” Labels do not matter. Actions and political policies do. Who cares what you call them. Just call them GONE !

  Rush calls him Ted Baxter…..He is a New Yorker and thinks he’s smarter than the rest of us.
