Exclusive: S.E. Cupp to Co-Host New MSNBC Show ‘The Cycle’

Over the weekend, rumors began to spread that The Blaze and GBTV’s S.E. Cupp was tapped to co-host a new television show on MSNBC. The notion that the left-leaning network would include Cupp on a regular program surprised conservatives and even had some pledging to tune into a cable network they rarely watch.
On Sunday, Politico initially reported that unnamed network sources leaked information about the new show, claiming that it would commence in the 3 p.m. ET time slot on June 25. On Thursday, The Blaze confirmed in an exclusive interview with S.E. Cupp that these early reports were accurate and that the show, “The Cycle,” is just days away from its premiere.
The news program will feature a permanent cast of four: Author and pundit Touré, Salon’s Steve Kornacki and former Democratic Congressional candidate Krystal Ball, in addition to Cupp. The new program will replace Martin Bashir’s show, which is moving to the 4 p.m. ET time slot.
According to Cupp, all four cast members will appear daily on “The Cycle,” with each taking turns leading the discussion. The main host for the day will open and close the program, potentially lead interviews and take charge of the discussion.

“We’re each going to take a turn hosting the ‘dinner party,’” Cupp explained.
In addition to confirming the show’s details, Cupp expressed enthusiasm for her new role and discussed the importance of her ability to connect with a divergent audience.
“I think it’s incredibly important to go into quote-on-quote unfriendly territory sometimes so that you can have meaningful conversations,” she said. “If you just talk in a room full of friends, I don’t know that you really accomplish anything.”
So far, conservatives have reacted quite positively to the announcement. Earlier this week, this was illustrated through social media reaction captured by Twitchy. It ranged from surprised to somewhat contended that Cupp will be included in the lineup:

And have no fears GBTV fans. Despite her new role, Cupp will remain a fixture on “Real News From the Blaze.”

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 6:12pmI have a feeling MSNBC greenlighted this to suck back some independents from FOX rather than draw conservatives. The funny thing is MSNBC’s programming drove independents away so one hour a day isn’t going to mend an ailing network like MSNBC. Independents are very touchy about being played. This is why they’ve dumped Obama in droves.

She may be outnumbered, but she will be able to hold her own because she is not only capable of critical thinking, but she already knows what she believes. She’s shown this ability on Fox, with Beck, and with the Real News. I do hope she does continue with the Real News. If ANY of them reported REAL news, it would conflict with the interests of those who pay for them in the first place–remember, they are ALL privately owned corporations, and they ALL have the same bottom line, profiting their creditors (creditors who probably play golf together and own stock in each others’ news corporations). Under such a hierarchy, they CAN’T produce unbiased objective journalism even if they WANTED to.

If that is your criticism of MSNBC, then I guess you must have FOX too. FOX hosts selectively edits clips and take quotes out of context all the time in order to distort what someone has said. They are also the mouthpiece of the Republican party.
To say that FOX reports real news is far from the truth.

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 5:51pmWith all due respect to Ms Cupp and The Blaze..I wont’ be tuning in. I want MSNBC to vanish into the dung heap of liberal failures and the sooner the better.
My suspicion is the failing MSNBC wants to accomplish two things with this. One is having a “conservative” host on a network notorious for the leftist agenda so that it can pretend to be “fair” or credible And the other is the business aspect…they want to draw viewers away from FOX who is dominating all the time slots. These viewers arent’ necessarily conservatives they’re likely independents.
I have the utmost repsect for Ms Cupp but thanks but no thanks. I don’t even tune in to The Five because I can’t stand Bob Beckel and this programme Cupp is subscribing to is nothing more than a more liberal skewed “The Five”.
Of course the instinct of the lefties here is to declare me scared or ignorant to hearing “both sides” of the argument. Far from it, but MSNBC doesn’t give you fair playing field to begin with as we saw this week with “Mrs Greenspan” selectively editing a tape of Mitt Romney and using it to mock and attack him.
If this is “the other side of the argument” to lefties..they can keep it.

If it is 15 minutes of conservate talk and 45 minutes of lefty propoganda then that will be it. However if in fact there is something to learn from the experiance then I will watch more. It point is if MSNBC gets ratings with conservates on the show, then you would think that we can make inroads into left america. The objective is to win the hearts and minds of the american people.
