Cory Booker Does it Again: N.J. Mayor Shows Up at Accident Scene

AP
Mayor Cory Booker is at it again — sort of.
Two months after he shot to national prominence for rescuing neighbors from a fire, the Newark, N.J. mayor showed up at the scene of a car accident where a pedestrian had just been hit — but it was someone else who did most of the heroics.
“God bless my residents. Pulled up on pedestrian/vehicle accident. We got man stabilized & into ambulance. He’ll b OK. Thanx 2 all who helped,” Booker tweeted Friday afternoon.
Booker told WNBC-TV he helped get water and ice for the victim and comforted the man until an ambulance arrived.
He followed up with a second tweet: “I appreciate the driver. Man ran into traffic. Driver did the right thing & stayed & helped me & others aid man until medical help arrived.”
According to the New Jersey Star-Ledger, law enforcement authorities said a county detective was actually the first on the scene and rendered most of the aid.
“The detective immediately called 911 and began to render assistance,” said Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s office. “He saw the victim was face down on the ground. He was bleeding from his mouth and nose. Det. [Michael] Davidson got some tissues from his trunk and began to wipe away the blood.”
Carter said Booker showed up “within minutes,” followed by an ambulance and Newark police.

Posted on June 25, 2012 at 12:51amHe really is a good guy, hopefully his actions spread throughout his community. The true progressive democrats will soon abandon him for his acts of kindness and selflessness. They dont like to help unless something is in it for them.

Posted on June 24, 2012 at 10:15amDon’t know how he does it? Is there a Booker signal that flashes accross the sky everytime trouble and calamity rears it’s ugly head? And how is it that he changes into his superhero costume so quickly since I haven’t seen an actual phone booth in years? I must admit though. The cheap suit seems to hide his cape really well. (I wonder if he can fly also?)

Posted on June 24, 2012 at 5:42ami dont live in jersey, but i see that the mayor has done some incredible things. i wish the local mayor here would be like booker, but hes too busy too go out in the town and talk to the citizens. he would never do anything like booker has. he has a police detail that gaurds him like the secret service. you couldnt get within twenty feet of him. but i see this mayor out and about, meeting, talking, tweeting and asking questions of his local residents. thats what a call a hands on guy. hes not afraid to git down and dirty with the “average folks”. hes the kind of mayor we all want, i see him tweeting about problems and trying to get things fixed as they break. he gets to the bottom of problems without looking to blame somebody first. the only “bad” thing about booker is hes a democrat, lol lol. obama could use some advise from him on what a good leader is and how he makes you feel like you matter.

Posted on June 23, 2012 at 10:26pmBFD. Mayor’s in towns all across America routinely participate in public safety events. There is video of Sonny Bono assisting on the scene of a bus crash when he was mayor of Palm Springs; the video is used sometimes in training. The former mayor of Harrisburg (Stephen Reed) used to show up at accidents, fires, and shootings all the time when he was mayor. In fact, as an openly gay mayor, there was some curiousity how he always seemed to arrive at the same time as the Fire Chief.

Posted on June 23, 2012 at 8:17pmThe problem that Booker has is he’s too moderate for his own party. We had a lifetime black Democrat have to leave our state but now is running as a Republican candidate at his new state (name escapes me now). Maybe Booker can remain in his same state but run as a Republican. lol

In the words of Glenn Beck: “With malice toward none.”
I don’t care why Booker helped this injured person, I am just glad that he did.

Posted on June 23, 2012 at 5:05pmI thought Booker was dead! Oh, wait, that was the Obama administration that said that about him because he was walking in lockstep with the rest of the Dems and media.

Posted on June 24, 2012 at 6:08amim glad you reminded me about that. the fact is you havnt heard from clinton either. isaw an ad that said he was over in france or something. the democrats bannished him. obama messed up, booker looks like a good fit for them and they were ok as long as he was a “puppet for them”. but he showed them he has his own opinions, and he proved you dont have to be a cruel, vile person when running against your opponent. democrats dont want free thinkers, they want drones that “do as your told” and try to destroy you if you make a mistake and cross their message. kind of reminds me of the “good ole’ boy ” philosophy. i wonder what booker will think when its time to vote for the person that “voted him off the island” ? paybacks a !@#$%

Posted on June 23, 2012 at 3:28pmGotta give kudos to Booker. He’s been a help in some unique situations. Gotta give him an ‘A’ for courage.
And an extra THUMBS UP for standing up to the White House. He’s not kissin’ their **** and I admire that.

Posted on June 23, 2012 at 2:58pmDid he really help this time? Or did he just interject himself into another situation for probable media coverage? My immediate reaction after reading this story is to assume it’s for attention because, hey, it worked great when it was the real thing the first time so why not visit that watering hole again. Then I get my mind going and start to think, well how hard would it to be stage an incident of this type? It would take little effort, much less than setting up a flash mob at a mall.

Posted on June 23, 2012 at 6:33pmShame on you and others with such dark, twisted hearts that cause you to find evil when someone that doesn’t fit into your political leanings does something helpful. You should just hope that if someone you love is in need of help, someone like Booker will lend assistance even if it is to just hold their hand as medical technicians take care of them. Be careful what you condemn, it may come back to haunt you.

Posted on June 23, 2012 at 2:54pmCory Booker seems like a really good guy. He takes responsibility and seems like a straight shooter. He doesn’t know it but he’s not a progressive and, since that’s who is running the Democrat Party, he’s probably not a Democrat. Artur Davis needs to give him a heads up about coming over to the right side.
