Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) gave a pop quiz of “pick out the immigrant” during a House floor speech Wednesday morning, using photos of celebrities to express his outrage over the Supreme Court’s ruling upholding the “show me your papers” measure of Arizona’s immigration law.

“This is for our young C-SPAN [viewers]: Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez,†Gutierrez said, pointing to a poster of the teen pop stars’ faces. “These young people have overcome their very different national origins and become apparently a happy couple. I’m sure Justin helped Gomez learn all about American customs and feel more at home in her adopted country.â€

“Oh, wait a minute. I’m sorry. Because I’m not a trained Arizona official, I somehow got that backwards,†Gutierrez, chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’s Immigration Task Force, continued. “Actually, Ms. Gomez of Texas has helped Mr. Bieber of Canada learn about his adopted country. Justin, when you perform in Phoenix, remember to bring your papers.â€

    This argument is TOTALLY IRRELIVENT. There is no vendetta against LEGAL IMMIGRATION. The concept that Illegal ALEINS must first DO something “illegal” to be suspected of BEING illegal is both arrogant, and ludicrous. Coming to the US to work and be a productive citizen is a process….not a “right”. For every productive person that sneaks over the border, there are 50 of their immediate family that want to suck off the system and do nothing. The US has 41% of LEGAL citizens that already do that. The fact is that the US CANNOT support these illegals. It has been my personal experience that not only do they come here in hoards, they have no intention of assimilating to OUR culture, which was the original idea of “the Melting Pot”. They EXPECT special accomodation for language, medical care, education, and housing. Parasites FEED off the host until the host DIES. Where will they go after they succeed in killing US?

      This is why rational people think that liberalism is a mental disease, because they obstinately refuse to hear or understand what the REAL issue is. Instead, their neuroses-riddled minds FILTER out the word “illegal” so they can fit their entire argument (i.e. “you’re a stupid bigot”) into the DNC agenda (i.e. free votes from people who are APATHETIC about what’s good for our nation AT BEST).

      The modern liberal is, at best, an ignorant conformist obsessed with appearing to care – but not REALLY caring about anything except appearances. At worst, they are intellectually deceitful, arrogant liars, who think they are smarter than EVERYONE, including their own leaders (and in particular the Founding Fathers). Either way, we are talking extremely egocentric, neurotically dishonest narcissists.

    Yet, Mr. Gutierrez fails to point out Arizona Law Enforcement is only allowed to check for status (Ask for papers) when a prior offense has occured. So, if Phoenix police attempts to ask The Beib for papers, it better have only been AFTER he torched the place, first.

    Half-truths abound – it amazes me what EITHER side will attempt to say in order to sway the ignorant masses.

      Seems to me if a cop pulls over a 7 passenger van going 20 miles under the posted speed limit with 10 grown men wearing feild clothes and no one speaks english… There might be a good possibility that at least 1 man is not American.

      This is the stupid thing. You have to have papers to fly, bank, buy cold medicine and so many other things. Why is it such a problem? These democrats never have a problem requiring papers to get into their events.
