‘If You Have Balls’: Flight Attendant Challenges Passengers to Leave the Plane During Five-Hour Delay

American Eagle flight attendant Jose Serrano (Photo via New York Post)
Flight attendants are generally much better than passengers at keeping their cool during long delays on the tarmac or in the terminal. One American Eagle attendant during a five-hour delay at New York’s LaGuardia Airport though, not only lashed out at passengers who were complaining, but challenged them to leave the plane.
“If you have balls, this is your time,” Jose Serrano said. “Otherwise, you’re going to have to fly with Jose.”
The New York Post reports the incident, which took place on Monday, involved a 1:25 p.m. flight bound for North Carolina being delayed four hours before boarding. After boarding the plane and waiting for 40 minutes to actually take off — other planes were in line first — the pilot had to go back to the gate to refuel. As if this wasn’t frustrating enough, the passengers sat again after being allowed to reboard.
“People were getting really amped up at this point,” passenger Jon Wurster said to the New York Post. “It took forever to get back on the plane. The fuses were getting pretty low.”
It was at this point that witnesses say Serrano got so agitated and confronted complaining passengers that some on the plane became anxious. The Post even reported a military veteran saying even though he’d been in combat he “never felt anxiety like I did sitting on that plane.”
Watch the footage that was captured on the plane:
Here’s allegedly what Serrano said:
Then Serrano exploded, shouting over the intercom: “If anyone has the balls to want to get off, I’ll let you get off! Get off!” according to witnesses.
“I’m not responsible for the weather!”
“I don’t care anymore. This is probably my last flight,” Serrano sputtered, according to several passengers.
Because of Serrano’s comments and actions, several passengers refused to take off and exited the plane. Some passengers and Serrano were questioned by authorities, and the Federal Aviation Administration is conducting an investigation.
After all that, the flight was canceled after 8 p.m.

Posted on June 29, 2012 at 8:06amMy sentiments exactly. I use to have to fly 2 to 3 times a week. After an alarm clock I was carrying set off the sniffer (it has a phosphorus ‘glow in the dark’ dial), Continental put me on their computer terrorist watch list. From that time onward, whenever I flew Continental or Northwest (both used the same computer system), I would be flagged to be searched, first at check in, then the TSA bit, and then again at the gate just before boarding. Soon afterward, a anti-gun group started pushing for the government to forbid anyone who was on any watch list from owning guns. I immediately quit that job and have not flown since. And will never fly again.

Posted on June 28, 2012 at 7:51pmThis is another reason why it’s great being a private pilot. Not that I will not ever fly again on a commercial airliner, but it is true that over the last decade and a half, I half seen more and more of a move to arrogant, rude flight attendants that they are there to act as truant officers to the passengers, Not that all of them are like this, but I really get tired of the prancing feminine boys over doing the girly talk thing, not to mention the losers like the one in this story who obviously have failed in other areas of life so they feel they have to act out their anger on paying customers! At least in a small airplane by myself or with my spouse, we can have a pleasant flight and enjoy the flight experience without all the hassles. Also, the view is so much better!

Posted on June 28, 2012 at 7:19pmI noticed this on a recent flight, but Stewardess’, Airline Host/Hostess, Beverage Bimbo’s, whatever you want to call them, are ugly. When did this happen? Whatever happened to the idea of attractive, smiling faces. The last flight I was on, the guy was huge. They want to charge me extra because my luggage was 2lbs over weight and then they have this behemoth pounding through the isles.

How did this rude, pot-bellied, Hispanic man, who cannot even speak plain English, become an airline steward? Don’t they have a weight limit and communication skills requirement?
I got the impression, that he was purposely trying to sound like a terrorist, over the intercom. Telling people to be quiet, daring them to get off, and saying this is probably his last flight, sounds threatening.
Thank God for those folks with video phones, and balls.

Posted on June 29, 2012 at 11:12amXKILLIER, now, that’s just not a politically correct comment! I believe that WINEDUDE has been “offended” at the lack of correctly identifying the job description of this inept airline employee, and we all know that NO ONE should ever be offended. I suspect that he and/or his “partner” are themselves stewards, hence, his comment. He is likely sitting with crossed legs, holding a wine glass with extended pinkie finger, drinking the latest “Wine de Jour”, lamenting the lack of respect for their chosen careers, not understanding how sometimes it’s difficult to determine whether it is a steward or stewardess working the aisles.
By the way, being White, I find the term “pinkie” finger offensive, as some in the Black community use that term in a racially offensive manner, so I’m offended. Anyone know where I can file a complaint and sue? Perhaps Jesse or Al can direct me to the appropriate Law Firm? Hah!

With the price of air fare and the price of excellent rental cars, we drive for all our longer trips. No delays, my choice of food when I want, no bathroom Nazi, no airport delays or TSA goons. Hey airlines…you could fix this with the FAA…look up the term customer service. Otherwise continue to go bankrupt.

Posted on June 28, 2012 at 6:10pmFA’s are there to “Save your a$$, not kiss it!” The FAA requires Flt Attendants to be on all airline flights for safety and emergencies and by law there has to be 1 FA for every 50 pax. No where does the law say that they have to serve drinks or food, that is a added inticement that the indivdual airlines do to get u to fly.
