‘Fundraiser-in-Chief’: Obama Reportedly Begs Donors for More Money Aboard Air Force One
The Daily Beast is making news after obtaining a number of tapes in which the president reportedly pleaded with donors for more money sounding, according to the Daily Beast, “weary” and “a tad worried.”
Described as a “rambling conference call” from Air Force One, the president allegedly spoke for 18 minutes about how Democrats are in danger of being outspent, in danger of losing Congress, and even in danger of losing the presidency.
The Daily Beast writes:
“The majority [of people] on this call maxed out to my campaign last time. I really need you to do the same this time,” the president said in a highly unusual (and presumably legal) fundraising pitch from Air Force One on his way back to Washington from Colorado Springs, where he’d been assessing the terrible damage caused by uncontained wildfires. A special phone on the government aircraft is dedicated to political calls that are paid for by the campaign.
“I’m asking you to meet or exceed what you did in 2008,” the presidential pitchman continued, speaking to donors who were invited to dial in based on their contributions during the last election. “Because we’re going to have to deal with these super PACs in a serious way. And if we don’t, frankly I think the political [scene] is going to be changed permanently. Because the special interests that are financing my opponent’s campaign are just going to consolidate themselves. They’re [going to] run Congress and the White House.” [Emphasis added]
The report has prompted an unexpectedly bold headline from the Huffington Post, which traditionally leans left:
According to the Daily Beast, the president “hardly sounded like a man doing a victory lap after Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling upholding Obamacare…Rather, Obama sounded like a dog-tired idealist forced to grapple painfully with hard reality.”
“In 2008 everything was new and exciting about our campaign,” Obama allegedly said. “And now I’m the incumbent president. I’ve got gray hair. People have seen disappointment because folks had a vision of change happening immediately. And it turns out change is hard, especially when you’ve got an obstructionist Republican Congress.”
The president’s party controlled both houses of Congress for roughly the first two years of his presidency, and still controls the Senate.
However, the speech then seemed to strike a more positive note.
“Nevertheless, we’ve gotten more done in the last three years than most presidents do in eight years … I just hope you guys haven’t become disillusioned. I hope all of you still understand what’s at stake and why this is so important … I still believe in you guys, and I hope you still believe in me and the possibilities of this campaign.”
He continued: “We don’t have to match these guys dollar for dollar because we’ve got a better grassroots operation and we’ve got a better message,” he said. “The American people—the nice thing is they agree with our message when they hear it. We just can’t be drowned out … A few billionaires can’t drown out millions of voices.”
(Related: George Clooney to Host Another Obama Fundraiser– This Time in Switzerland)
Lamenting the outcome of Citizens United, Obama noted how Mitt Romney raised significantly more money than he did last month, before saying: “The good news is we’re spending a lot more money on our ground game and grassroots organizing and voter registration…We just can’t be outspent 10 to 1. That’s what happened in Wisconsin recently…”
He concluded: “If things continue as they have so far, I’ll be the first sitting president in modern history to be outspent in his reelection campaign.”
And while some are commenting that it is perfectly acceptable for the president to ask his donors for more money, it probably doesn’t help his fundraiser-in-chief image–particularly when the national budget doesn’t seem to be quite as pressing as that of his campaign.

When he goes to national politics, he declares it was a state’s right but the federal government has no business telling states how to run their healthcare.
Dont you hate it when that same guy stands behind a podium which says “rpeal and REPLACE” – which means he wants to replace the federal democrat program with the federal republican program? Wait, i thought healthcare was a state right and not the business of the federal government?

I hate it when progressives (actually anyone, but especially progressives) LIE. Read ‘Rules for Radicals’, and guess what: the progressives’ bible teaches community agitators/organizers to LIE. If barack hussein obLama told the truth (about his hope and change) he wouldn’t be worrying about re-election. He would be back in Chi-town community organizing. Now he has to LIE about his record, and most people are unhappy with it. Good luck obLama, happy fundraising, and enjoy your government-paid travel while you can; soon you will be paying for it yourself, even if you convince some rich ‘pinheads’ to ‘bail’ you out, it won’t be enough. You’re going home, thugster.

You beat me to the punch with the Hatch act.
What I am wondering now, based on some speculation from my friends, is if Obama may be gathering the funds up for another purpose. One brought up a slim chance Obama may abscond with the funds just near the end of his term or just after it, and flee to one of the European socialist lands, mainly France.
Again, this is only a theory, and not one I see as possible; I still hold to his end will either be a seizure of total power or a scorched earth move to collapse the economy completely. If he runs, I will be very pleasantly surprised.

Since when does oblameo care about legal ? Who is going to do anything about it ? He and his whole administration are criminals. The best we can hope for is to vote him out in November ,even then he’ll never be held responsible for his crimes against the people or the constitution and he’ll probably pardon everybody in his administration on the way out the door as his final lawless act.

If Lincoln and Geant wern’t liberals this would have been avoided. Obama along with Van Jones, The Rev. al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are controlling the blacks. What really set off Booth was when Lincoln mentioned giving the blacks the vote and make them equal with whites.

Posted on July 1, 2012 at 5:23pmWhat ever happened to the rule of law? We’re seeing it time and time again, where those in power commit crimes or ignore regulations because they don’t serve their agenda and nothing happens. This example of the Hatch Act is a small example but, Holder being held in contempt is a prime example. The House majority votes that there is sufficient evidence of the contempt charge, yet 1 judge, who works for the one held in contempt, wipes it away on the grounds of exec privilege. To take it further, the exec privilege hasn’t even been written yet! The first time in history a POTUS has claimed EP and not submitted it in writing. These people don’t even pretend to play by the rules! And if they are called on it, SCOTUS on SB1070, they CHANGE the freakin rules.
My question is, what the heck are we supposed to do to hold these people accountable? Elections have consequences, but I have no faith in their validity with the crooks opening the border gates and not allowing IDs.
Who is the law, when it’s corrupted at the highest level?

The Department of Defense prohibits any campaigning or political paraphernalia on military bases and other installations, including the hanging of signs. This directive includes the entire base, meaning members of the military are not allowed to display any campaign materials on their houses if they reside on a base. However, outside of military bases campaign signs are generally allowed in federal housing. The Hatch Act specifically prohibits campaigning in a room or building occupied in the discharge of official duties. A house, even when it is part of federal housing, is not considered to be so occupied and is exempt from campaigning restrictions.

Here’s the original Tiger Wood’s speech;

I hope you get some laughs with this. It’s long and will take several posts. Here it is;
Believe in Me again speech, rewrite for Obama 2012 election. (Feb 19, 2010)
Part one.
“Good morning. And thank you for joining Me.
Many of you in the room are My friends. Many of you in this room know Me. Many of you have cheered for Me, or worked with Me, or supported Me, and now, every one of you has good reason to be critical of Me.
I want to say to each of you, simply, and directly, I am deeply sorry for My irresponsible and selfish behavior I engaged in.
I know people want to find out how I could be so selfish and so foolish. People want to know how I could have done these things to the American people. And while I have always tried to be a community activist, there are some things I want to say.

Posted on July 1, 2012 at 6:25pmI have started the process of discussing the damage caused by my behavior. As you have pointed out to Me, My real apology to you will not come in the form of words or actions. It will come from My behavior over time. We have a lot to discuss. However, what we say to each other will remain between the two of us (CSPAN will not be allowed).
I am also aware of the pain My behavior has caused to those of you in this country. I have let you down. I have let down my fans. For many of you, especially My friends, My behavior has been a personal disappointment. To those of you who work for Me, I have let you down, personally and professionally. My behavior has caused considerable worry to My business partners like ACRON and SEIU.
To everyone involved in My foundation, including My staff, board of directors, sponsors, and most importantly, ACRON and the young students we reach, our work is more important than ever. Twenty years ago, My pastor and I envisioned helping young people achieve their dreams through community service. This work remains unchanged and will continue to grow. From the streets of Chicago, to the Progressives in Washington, D.C., and the millions of kids who have changed their lives, I am dedicated to making sure that this continues in a Socialist, Marxist and Communist way

But, still, I know I have severely disappointed all of you. I have made you question who I am and how I have done the things I did. I am embarrassed that I have put you in this position. For all that I have done, I am so sorry. I have a lot to atone for.
But there is one issue I really want to discuss. Some people have speculated that you were somehow hurt or attacked by Me on Election night. It angers me that people would fabricate a story like that. You voted Me that night and every other night. There has never been an episode of socialistic violence in our relationship. Ever.
You have shown enormous grace and poise throughout this ordeal. We deserve praise, not blame. The issue involved here was My repeated irresponsible behavior. I was unfaithful. I had affairs with Chavez and Castro. I cheated. What I did is not acceptable. And I am the only person to blame. I stopped living by the core values that I was taught by my white parents to believe in and started to live by Reverend Wright’s words of racism.

I knew my actions were wrong. But I convinced myself that normal rules didn’t apply. I never thought about who I was hurting. Instead, I thought only about Myself. I ran straight through the boundaries that a President should live by. I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to. I felt that I had worked hard My entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around Me. I felt I was entitled. Thanks to money and fame, I didn’t have faith and didn’t have to go far to find Marxism.
I was wrong. I was foolish. I don’t get to play by different rules. The same boundaries that apply to everyone apply to Me. I brought this shame on Myself. I’ve had a lot of time to think about what I have done. My failures have made me look at Myself in a way I never wanted to before. It is now up to Me to make amends. And that starts by never repeating the mistakes I have made. It is up to Me to start living a life of integrity.
I once heard — and I believe it is true — it’s not what you achieve in life that matters, it is what you overcome. Achievements in the White House are only part of setting an example. Character and dependency are what really count. Parents used to point to Me as a role model for their kids. I owe all of those families a special apology. I want to say to them that I am truly sorry.
It is hard to admit that I need help. But I do. For 365 days, from the beginning of Jan 2009 to
Jan 2010, I was in progressive therapy, receiving guidance for the issues I’m facing. I have a
long way to go. But I’ve taken my first steps in the right direction. The Progressive direction.
As I proceed, I understand people have questions. I understand Fox News wants me to — to ask me for the details of the times I was unfaithful to the American people. I understand people want to know whether Pelosi and Reid will remain together. Please know that as far as I’m concerned, every one of these questions and answers is a matter between my attorneys and my staff. These are issues that do not concern you.

Some people have made up things that never happened. They said I used performance-enhancing ACORN’s. This is completely and utterly false. I used more than that.
Some have written things about my party. Despite the damage I have done, I still believe it is right to shield my facts from the public spotlight. You did not do these things. I did. And you do not need to know about them. I have always tried to maintain a private space for my beliefs and my religion. They have been kept separate from my sponsors, my commercial endorsements, and the public.
When My activism was born, we only released photographs so they … so that the paparazzi could not cover them.
However, My behavior doesn’t make it right for the media to follow My daughters to school and report the school’s location. They staked out My wife and pursued the truth. Whatever my wrongdoings, for the sake of My family, please leave my wife and the truth alone.
I recognize I have brought this on Myself. And I know above all I am the one who needs to change. I owe it to my family to become a better person. I owe it to those closest to Me to become a better man. That is where My focus will be. I have a lot of work to do. And I intend to dedicate Myself to doing it.

Part of following this path for me is Islam, which my preacher taught me at a young age. People probably don’t realize it, but I was raised a Marxist, and I actively practiced my faith from childhood until I drifted away from it in recent years. Marxism teaches that a craving for things outside ourselves causes a happy and pointless search for security. It teaches Me to stop following every impulse and to learn to restrain others. Obviously, I lost track of what I was taught.
As I move forward, I will continue to receive help because I have learned that is how people really do change. Starting tomorrow, I will leave for more treatment and more brainwashing.
I would like to thank my friends at ACORN and the SEIU players in the field this week for understanding why I am making this — these remarks today. In therapy, I have learned that looking at — the importance of looking at My spiritual life and keeping in balance with my professional life. I need to regain My balance and be centered so I can have the things that are most important to me: my career and my money.
That also means relying on others for help. I have learned to seek support from My peers in community service and I hope someday to return that support to others who are seeking help.
I do plan to return to office one day. I just don’t know when that holiday will be. I don’t rule out that it will be this year. When I do return, I need to make My behavior more respectful of the political game.

In recent weeks, I have received many thousands of e-mails, letters and phone calls from people expressing good wishes. To everyone who has reached out to Me and My political family, thank you. Your encouragement means the world to Nancy, Harry, Valerie, Van Jones, Tim, Rev Wright and me. I want to thank the Treasury Commissioner [Tim] Geithner and the players for their patience and understanding while I work on My public life. I look forward to seeing my fellow players on the course.
Finally, there are many people in this room and there are many people at home who believed in me. Today, I want to ask for your help. I ask you to find room in your hearts to one day Believe In Me… Again. Thank you.
I hope some of you here got a laugh with this. With all that’s going on a few laughs can’t hurt. For all the Tiger Woods fans…. no disrespect to Mr. Woods intended.

Posted on July 1, 2012 at 2:10pmKick – I couldn’t agree more. You know the “If my people who are called by my name…” verse?
Well, it stands to reason that the converse is true too:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall NOT humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, but rather embrace and occupy their wicked ways; then will I turn my back from heaven, and will NOT forgive their sin, and will extract all blessing from their land.”
There are many on earth like this man and the people he has chosen to surround him. But that doesn’t mean we had to put them in power over us.
It is our fault as a nation for electing him and God is using him to judge us and punish us.
May we learn the lessons God is teaching us so the punishment can come to an end. Or I fear, the punishment will be final for this country.

After all, using the road system is a right, I didn’t say driving, I said using the raods, and I would argue that you can’t even use the health care system if the raods weren’t available to travel on. So why are there so many un-insured road users out there. Why should someone have to pay more just so they can drive a car, so they can get to work to earn money to pay a tax for health insurance??? I guarantee that Republicans pay the brunt of this insurance, so it would be a HUGE campaign point.

Yes REPLACE, we replace it with something that allows the States to deal with healthcare issues. We REPLACE a system that will allow employers to look for health insurance beyond their State boarders. If Employers were allowed to go across State line to purchase health insurance, it would not only create better commerce but it would also create more competition which will drive down the cost of Insurance. We all know that the days of having 100% coverage is gone, but most people have no problem paying something towards their health care. I also feel that we need to place a CAP on certain things like Pharmaceuticals and on Hospitals who charge way above and beyond for services. There are things that can be done that can and will drop the price of Healthcare down if only it can be implemented.

100% correct. NOW is the time for Romney to frame this whole train wreck within the constraints set forth within the Constitution ie 10th Amendment.
1. It can position / defend Romneycare (like it or not) as the states right to develop that legislation.
2. It can highlight the tax increases and force the dems to sign up for the biggest tax increase in history by NOT voting to repeal it (need the house vote in July).
3. It can define the new form of Tax Roberts just created on his own as ACA does not fit the definition of aportional, excise nor income.
This is the strategy I’m looking our legislators to beat into Romneys head. Every voter should call their reps and governors with the message!! We want and expect our states to be protected.
