The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority’s rules state “strollers, scooters and wheelchairs are prohibited” on escalators leading up from the subway’s platform. Still, a woman on a motorized scooter attempted to ride up the escalator even when an elevator was a mere 50 feet away.
As you might expect, it didn’t end well. The Boston Herald reports the 56-year-old woman was flipped backward on the escalator. The video captured of the event makes her the latest poster child for what MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo says shows the “consequences of ignoring the rules pertaining to escalators”:
“The chair flips over, and an alert MBTA bus operator pushed the escalator’s emergency stop button,” Pesaturo said, noting that other bystanders raced to her aid, including the tourist who ran down the upward moving escalator. “After her tumble, the woman stands up and walks down the escalator.”
“Seemingly embarrassed, she said very little to T personnel,” he added.

Watch the footage:
The woman who was not identified was not seriously injured and declined any medical attention.
UPDATE:
Fox News Channel’s Martha MacCallum seemingly had a hard time controlling her laughter when she saw the clip.
“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to laugh. It’s not funny…I hope she’s okay! She’s okay, right, you guys?” MacCallum said amid her chuckles.

Jul. 19, 2012 at 3:39pm@zazzy – she probably did that because of #1 no brain and #2 the lazy a** that made her decide to ride in a scooter in the first place.
@freethinkerdave – probably won’t be no more of a job creator than she is now. Then again, with that much money the stores and fast food places near where she lives will probably have to hire extra people to carry all the extra food back and forth to her to eat. I imagine that she probably got that scooter for free with welfare, I know that if I saw this and had been instrumental in getting her the chair. After watching her walk down the steps as good as she did, I would be asking her why she lied to get the chair in the first place.
@hopeless – talking about the stupidity and laziness that she exhibited is just talking about the choice she made apparently expecting the escalator to change itself to do what she wanted it to do. As Forrest Gump said: “Stupid is as stupid does”
@koolaiddrinker – I didn’t see it but if she had a barking ***** obummer sticker that explains it all.
NOTICE: I apologize to all barking dogs, hussies, barking hussies, bums and barking bums if I insulted you by typing his name – any insult was totally unintentional.

She didn’t get there by herself. Others, the government, built the roads and bridges that were required for her to get there. She could never have been in the position the attempt to use the escalator if it weren’t for the work of others.
Thus we can now conclude that it is, indeed, Obama’s fault.

I keep seeing small kids riding one down up and down the street. I think this lady might want to consider suing the Federal government for buying it for her without giving her proper safety training so that she would know not to try and drive it up and escalator. I for one am getting pretty tired of dodging out of they way of these things so that I don’t get run over.

How TRUE!! My docs tried to convince me to get into a wheelchair 11years ago. I can’t repeat what I told them. In 2006, different docs told me the same thing, “just give it up already”. Last month, I completed a 5k (w walker), for March of Dimes. I have a genetic disorder that can be unpredictable. So far though, I’ve found doing the opposite of what they expect, proving them wrong-works best.
