Jay Carney’s Actual Response to Jobs Council Not Meeting: Obama Has ‘A Lot on His Plate’

Jay Carney is known to give some quote-worthy comments while standing behind the podium in the White House briefing room. And his performance yesterday might be the best this summer. What am I talking about? Well, after being asked about why the president hasn’t met with his jobs council for six months, Carney justified it by saying Obama’s just been too busy.

(Related: Read our initial story on the hiatus)

RealClearPolitics has the transcript:

REPORTER: On the Jobs Council, obviously they’ve reported to haven’t met formally or publicly for six months. Why is exactly is that?

CARNEY: Look, the president solicits and receives input and advice from members of his Jobs Council and others about economic initiatives all the time. And I would point you to the numerous initiatives put forward by the Jobs Council that this administration under the president’s direction has taken action, presidential memorandum of August of last year that selected 14 job creating high-priority infrastructure projects for expedited review. Four of those are already under construction.

In March of this year, just four months ago, an executive order launched interagency effort to cut red tape and improve outcomes for infrastructure projects.

[…]

REPORTER: So there’s no reason they haven’t met publicly?

CARNEY: No, there’s no specific reason except that the president’s obviously got a lot on his plate. But he continues to solicit and receive advice from numerous folks outside the administration about the economy, about ideas he can act on with Congress or administratively to help the economy grow and help it create jobs.

And Politico has the video:

In other words, we can’t meet to talk about the lack of work because Obama has too much of it.* Doh!

*As Mitt Romney pointed out, a lot of the time has been occupied by fundraisers.

Obama can’t be bothered to do any real work that might help the citizens. Maybe if his staffers paid their own taxes, that would pay for his and his wife’s numerous vacations.

Actually they are afraid someone will Talk about all the failed Green energy jobs that never came about or all the people that are with out a job after they all went bellyup(Synlendra)! And then there are those jobs that were created thay cost us $200,000 to $300,000 for one person and only lasted for a year. Someone who has only been a community orginizer and never run a company just don’t get it.

Much of the crap on his plate doesn’t need to be and isn’t necessary. It only is because he’s stirring crap. He’d have a lot less to do and would be getting things done that really need to be done if he wasn’t so obsessed with his communist one world agenda.

No Jay, I am not talking about the ‘plate’, at his fundraisers. We know it costs around $35,000 per plate, and who cares how much he gets on his plate. He can demand his private chef on Air Force One, create a meal if he is hungry. We all know he cannot create a Job.
He can only try to save his own position. (Notice: I didn’t say his ‘Job”, that would imply work)

Yeh ROOK, and dumping $50 billion into bailing out a company that has 65% of its jobs overseas makes sense to you. If that weren’t enough, you like the idea of screwing the bond holders and handing the equity over to the unions. Your story is contrived and should be one of reforming the tax system, not demonizing individuals that leverage loopholes. Lot’s of people are figuring out they don’t want to go down with the idiotic logic you embrace.

More people are coming down with a sore thumb, painful toe, a case of the crazy’s (for a day to show out to a disability case worker) than ever before. Since disastrous Oblamer took office he has created a net -1.3million jobs while at the same time mysteriously he has added +3.6 million individuals to the Social Security Disability rolls.

JRook the above facts are clearly Romney’s fault do you thintk or are they disastrous O’s?

@ROOK – I live in Pennsylvania and have seen plenty of Obama ads, why do you think Obama is running ads questioning Romney as opposed to talking about what he’s accomplished as president? If Romney did anything illegal the justice department should arrest him if not shut the heck up. Romney’s job as a businessman was to make money, even if he did ship jobs overseas and that is questional at best according to the Washington Post and Factcheck.org he was doing his job and was VERY GOOD at it. AS president his job would be to CREATE JOBS IN AMERICA.

OBama on the other hand has promised multiple times to create jobs and the latest numbers show us going in reverse. It’s laughable that his spokesman’s excuse is it’s the President been busy while he attends multiple fundraisers and plays golf weekly.

It’s also laughable that this same spokesman think starting 29% of in his words “…high-priority infrastructure projects…” in almost a year is a good record or acceptable with our present unemployment rate.

A REAL LEADER FINDS A WAY A REAL LOSER FINDS AN EXCUSE in your heart you know which one OBama is, in your mind I’m not so sure! Fact is historically speaking it would almost be impossible for Romney to do a worse job than obama

Keep making excuses for Obama as our country continues to go downhill

Why don’t they just come out and say that ‘jobs’ are outdated as a means for the masses to provide a ‘reasonable’ standard of living and need to be replaced with monthly residual income checks which replace natural resources and production jobs BOTH parties outsourced for ‘shareholder profit enhancement.’ – Native Americans got ‘reservations,’ rancid beef and perpetual ‘broken promises.’ Patriots are on the verge of subprime ‘Fannie/Freddie’ eminent domain ‘seizures,’ Monsanto poisoned EBT cards, GREAT ‘affordable’ healthcare (cough-wheeze-die) and comfy/cozy ‘colony camps’ – Next bubble to bust are the unpayable student loans – which will implode the ‘tenured’ institutions of higher indoctrination. Solutions are easy – we KNOW what works; The Boston Tea party and Whiskey rebellion weren’t just for show… Prohibition didn’t work out too good neither. Perhaps we can get some STUtistics on the number of Hessian/Xe corp troops lurking in the shadows post-Katrina test-run??

He dove right into the money as soon as he got into the White House. Can we afford that again? With no further elections in his future he can golf more, travel more, apologize more, throw more White House parties, give more money to green companies who lay off people and send the jobs overseas instead of hiring, etc, etc. Think how he can devote all his time to quadrupling the damage he did in his first term. Our debt now will look like petty cash if he gets in again. He won’t be inclined to waste any money for unemployment, or anything else. Every last dime to blow as he pleases. He didn’t even restrain himself the first time. If America lets him do this twice they deserve what they get. Just a bunch of sheep.

You’d think he’d put his FORK down and stop attending all these comedy shows, baseball games, concert events at the WH, fundraiser vacations, golf outings and actually do his job….. secretly, we know that HE IS DOING HIS JOB because nobody could be this bad, if it weren’t intentional….
