‘They Ought to Be Called Murder Incorporated’: Liberal Talker Bill Press Attacks NRA

It ought to go without saying that using the Aurora shooting to make hyperbolic political points is in poor taste. Unfortunately, that seems to be the variety of taste that Current TV’s Bill Press has.

Press, who has a history of taking cheap shots at conservative groups/individuals with whom he disagrees, lobbed what was (even for him) an uncharacteristically sharp accusation at the National Rifle Association (NRA) today, all but outright accusing them of supporting murder by virtue of opposing gun control.

“After a hurricane, we talk about what kind of new levees we might build. After 911, we invented TSA. But after a mass murder, we’re not allowed to talk about gun control. Why? Because the NRA might not like it. Well, guess what? I don’t give a damn about the NRA and I’m not afraid of them. By standing in the way of any sensible gun control, I think the NRA has blood on its hands. They ought to be called Murder Incorporated. How many more Columbines, how many more Virginia Techs, how many more Aurora, Colorados before we finally declare our independence from the NRA and stop worshipping the almighty gun?” Press snarled. “There’s no need for anybody outside the military to have an assault weapon.”

Now, one could point out the problems with Press’ comments until the cows home. However, for now, the best response may be simply to quote from the Governor of Colorado, John Hickenlooper, who was asked about precisely the topic of gun control after the Aurora shootings, and had this to say:

If there were no assault weapons available and no this or no that, this guy is going find something, right? He’s going to know how to create a bomb.

Now, if even the Governor of the state where this tragedy happened doesn’t think this idea is a good one, where is Press getting his terror about people worshipping the “almighty gun” from? Who knows, but his comments clearly don’t bespeak a sober view of the evidence.

So far I have not “needed” my assualt weapon, but I have it and am trained to use it just in case. It has never killed anyone, in fact, it is in capable of killing anyone.

  No one but the military should own semi-automatic weapons. THAT is why WE THE PEOPLE should be able to own them too PERIOD !!!!! OH and what about the PATRIOT that lives on the border.   The liberal gun control faction is quick to blame the NRA and legal gun owners. I would like to see them explain the Shootings in Chicago, New York City, Boston and Washington DC. These cities have the strictest gun control laws in the country and lead the country in gun related crimes.
  They will have to take my guns and it would be a good idea if they sent a SWAT team to get them. I also have a CCL and carry all the time. I haven’t shot anyone since Viet Nam and hope I never have to but if a few of us had been in the theater in Aurora there would have been fewer victims and the state would have saved the money for a trial.

  Assault weapons are select fire (can do full auto). Secondly, the purpose of the 2nd Amendment was in fact to assure that we were in *exact parity* as far as individual weapons systems (firearms). U.S. v Miller in fact was a declaration of that very principal. Had the defendant been porting around a full auto rifle instead of a shotgun, he’d never have been brought to court.
  
  These demons were grasping to “not let a crisis go to waste” while there was still warm blood on the theater floors, first trying to make this “tea party” and after that failed, going to their own gibberish fallback, which is “blame the tool and not the person using it” aka “gun control”.

  It’s about time we bring all those in Congress that have stated their desire to repeal the second amendment before an independent court outside of congress. They took an oath and have openly broken that oath in their attacks on free citizen and thye second amendment it’s time for them to pay the piper.

Make sure that you Security Co. is listening to you and don’t use them if they have assault weapons on their premises. They are private citizens and rent a cops usually and are know to “accidently shoot” first.

  How much harder would it have been for him to use a few homemade bombs in the theatre. Crazies will use whatever means necessary to carry out their acts of attention.
  
  If that had been a theatre in Arizona or Texas they wouldn’t have caught him in the parking lot, they would have picked his dead cold body off the floor.
  
  There’s a reason why they don’t attempt to hijack more planes, they know the passengers will stop them by whatever means necessary.
  
  This government understands that we will not give up our 2nd amendment right. They will have to take it by force.
  
  I have contacted both of my senators, one replied by email the other had his office call me directly. If you haven’t sent your senators and email it’s time to do so. We need to blow up their emails with our concerns, if they don’t listen let them be the first to suffer for their actions.

When governments disarm their citizens, they are able to oppress and murder them.
56 million defenseless people were rounded up and exterminated in the 20th century in countries like China, Germany and Turkey (to name a few), after gun control was instituted in their countries.

Gee whiz Bill, let’s not forget that more people die each year from physicians’ mistakes than by gunshot. Accidental or intended. Let’s outlaw physicians, or their sharp tools. Traffic accidents kill more than both of the previous mentioned combined. Looks like those roads and bridges 0bama was to take credit for should be banned. Murder incorporated if anything.

Would that he could have been the host on Egyptian TV who was physically assaulted by (his) guest for playing a practical joke. Were I Sarcastic by nature, I’d suggest that, had he found himself in that situation, he would have been Shrieking for “Help!” from “armed” security. (Paid for by someone else, of course)

  One should disallow the Brady campaign coined phrase “assault weapon”, it is a misnomer!
  The AR-15 is not an ASSAULT weapon, it is a cool looking semi-auto Hunting rifle that has the same abilities as a Ruger Ranch Rifle, Oh there is a difference, the Ranch Rifle comes with a wood stock!
  So when you allow the ignorant to label your favorite Wild boar hunting rifle an “Assault Weapon” you give them the right to take all the other Non-scary looking Guns as well!
  
  So go forth and tell the Sheeple, to stop talking out their couch duster, Give them not a moments peace while they dust couches.
  
  I am sick & tired of the ignorant bunch from Heffer-ton roast telling me I can’t save my wife.
  
  Gun Control attacks only defensive uses of firearms without any useful reduction in the Offense Criminals. Only idiots can justify tiewrapping your wife’s hands behind her back before letting her leave work to walk across a large, dark parking lot & yet that is what they do to every man, woman & child.
  
  Tell them they are complicit with every injury or death where the individual could have been saved by self protection afforded by their own weapon.
  
  2nd Amendment was created for a reason,

  Rational arguments have no place in knee-jerk, glad handing, hyper emotional gun control debates. So stop with the common sense and join the rest in their quest to first ban guns then knives because they kill to. After that, a nut job will go crazy with a baseball bat and we will of course have to regulate bats and eventually ban them altogether because it will not stop crazy people from using them. Baseball will then be renamed, Handball. But the international Hand Ball association will sue and win of course. And the new name for baseball will be simply Catch. Yep, a bunch of guys throwing the ball around.
  Soon after, you will not be able to drive a car because you could plow into a crowd. You can still have a car, it will be driven by a licensed, trained and trusted robot. When they realize that such technology doesn’t exist yet, cars will be banned to the cheers of many. We’ll all travel by computer controlled trains and speed governed bicycles. AWESOME!
  Ounce we go down the list of potential weapons to kill or harm the masses the sigh of relief will be heard nation wide for three days until someone bludgeons 20 people to death in a bread line with a rock. Then we will embark on a nationwide campaign to pick up rocks, all rocks.
  At this point we have banned everything that makes life possible and millions die of starvation daily. To prevent this atrocity we all must live out our lives in a cocoon serviced by a giant computer named Hal. The end.

  I don’t know where you live, but here in Ohio, we can (and some do) open carry. It’s considered a legal and protected right, as put out by the AG of the State in clear, unambiguous and wonderfully citable terms. I open carry almost daily.
  
  If your state doesn’t “allow” it, consider moving or getting your legislator to get their collective heads out of their butts and removing the restriction on your right.
  
  This dyed hair toad would have been a lot less successful if some inside the theater had been armed (many theaters are Criminal Protection Zones aka “no guns allowed”). That he could calmly walk to his car and wait to be arrested is a huge demonstration of what happens in disarmed societies, where the wolves eat the sheep with impunity.
