If you missed the live video of Restoring Love, be sure to watch it on-demand — see how here.
–
On Saturday evening, Glenn Beck delivered what is, arguably, his most moving and impactful address to date. His “Restoring Love” speech, accompanied by symphonic music, touched upon service, worship and the elements needed to move America forward.
(Read the entire speech transcript)
Beck opened by addressing the hard work and dedication that thousands of “Restoring Love” volunteers engaged in when they helped those in need at locations across Dallas, Texas, on Thursday (for more on the Day of Service, click here).
“With all the problems in the world and with politicians giving all those speeches, doesn’t it feel good to do the work?,” Beck said in the speech’s opening. “One million meals have just left the stadium. We’re feeding the hungry in 11 cities. There are churches that can worship again when it rains because we — you –put a roof up.”

Beck went on to praise the audience for serving the poor, elderly and others in great need, claiming that these caring individuals served as a “shelter from the storm” for the downtrodden. The popular commentator also encouraged the audience to make service more than a one-time occurrence.
After addressing service, Beck stressed the importance of history, saying that it “is always alive.”
“History breathes. It doesn’t belong behind glass. It belongs to you,” he proclaimed. “History is where we learn, who we really are, everything we have, everything we enjoy was done by someone else before we were born.”
The nation that allows for such wonderful liberties to be enjoyed was inherited by this generation from those who came before us, he said. Beck went on to say that the current generation cannot be blamed for the mistakes of the past, nor can it be credited for the successes that came before.
The powerful address continued, urging the audience to fight for America’s future.

“We must not become America in name only. We must always strive to be a great country. We don’t have to spend our inheritance,” Beck said. “We can build on it. Invest it. Improve it. Make it bigger and better. That’s your choice. It’s our choice. Our inheritance is America.”
The popular radio and television host had a challenge for those watching: Rather than taking a back seat, he pushed everyone to “act,” “commit” and “shape the future.” The end goal? The make the nation better than it is today.
“I think there are two kinds of Americans,” he continued. “Those who like to be pushed and those who push themselves. Those who see our problems and refuse to see our blessings, and those who see our problems as our blessings.”
He asked the audience to consider which camp they fall into – the one that likes to be pushed or the one that is consistently pushing itself forward.
Beck then went on to discuss past movements and the generations that fought for racial justice. He praised Martin Luther King and his “dream” and said that the civil rights leader “did not wait for the arc of history to bend towards justice.”

Here’s an excerpt from this powerful portion of the speech:
“He and millions like him pushed…they pushed and they pushed uphill.
They pushed and they were pushed back by water cannons. They pushed and they were pushed back by billy clubs and tear gas.
They pushed and they were pushed back on the bridge at Selma. They pushed and they were pushed off the bus in Montgomery.
They pushed and they were pushed into jail. They pushed and some gave their lives…but they never stopped pushing. And in the end…
They bent history towards justice. That was their inheritance to us.”
Beck went on to further stress the importance of history, telling the crowd that it “isn’t about a bunch of dead guys staring at us sternly from the textbooks and the paintings.” Instead, he said everyone is building history with all of the choices we make.
The importance of the decision to act compassionately – to restore love – was at the center of much of his speech. From feeding the poor to helping someone who is hurting, Beck said that Americans are “builders” and “helpers.” The government, he contended, shouldn’t be in the business of stopping people from serving those in need.
He continued:
“We will have a great country again. And a great legacy for our children!
We will not give up. We will not give up our inheritance. We will not give up the right to feed the hungry…the right to care for the sick…the right to run a bake sale!
We will not give someone else…the work of our hearts…the work that we must do. We will do it…because we are already doing it.
I will not let go. I will not sit down. I will not comply. I will not comply. Because I know…I know this: America is not done.”
Beck told the audience to remember that history is a “guide” and “not a guarantee.” He spoke about a “new birth of freedom” and stressed the importance for all Americans to be a part of the process.

You defend the very thugs you speak out about when you spout the communist manifesto, wake the heck up! communism did not make America great, and it surely will not save it…we have to fix our country yes, but thru the constitution, fix the crony capitalism that now exists, thanks to the progressive poison that spews from the left…we are going to TAKE BACK OUR FREEDOM, starting in November. Your guy in the WH will be voted out by a landslide, and there is not a thing you can do about it!

Jul. 29, 2012 at 12:59pm* You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
-Now, I myself am very thrifty, but economies prosper when people spend money to buy things. When people are too thrifty, they don’t buy things. This guy knows nothing about economics.
* You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
-Sure, that’s why the main creed of Christianity is “only the strong survive,” right?
* You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
-Fortunately, in America we are all recognized as equal by our political system. There is no legal understanding of “small” and “big” men. And who are these “small” men? Can you think of a more snobby statement?
* You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
-Please, point me to all the rich people in America who have been “destroyed” by anything other than poor business choices. Where are these poor victims? Now, it’s a lot easier to find poor people who have been devastated by structural inequalities in our economic system.

* You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
-Good luck buying a house friend.
* You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
-Nor can you by ignoring structural inequalities that lead to a wealth gap that is increasing every year.
* You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.
-Again, good luck buying that house. So much for the modern credit economy, eh?
* You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man’s initiative and independence.
-I suppose that’s right, just like you can’t make a cherry pie with blueberries–no one was suggesting that this is how it works. You can, however, improve initiative and independence by investing tax dollars in education, worker training, etc.
* You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves
-Sure, but you definitely can hinder men permanently by refusing to help them when they need it.

You cannot find happiness if looking ever for some slight. You cannot find justice by using an eneven scale, you cannot find honesty by perpetrating lies, and you cannot bring about Heaven on Earth, by turning the earth over to those who would do wickedness to overcome your slights and grievances. Man inherits the ability to sin and the desire for good, and these are at war in him from the beginning of his understanding. It is in a Savior, God become man and living a perfect life and dying for our sins, that we find freedom from this war, (refer to Glenn’s speech at High Point Church, especially the “OH Crap, it wasn’t just a story!) As I mentioned responding to Apple, I do not think that this is the motto for Christianity–I was being sarcastic, pointing to the hypocrisy of this kind of rhetoric coming from a “Reverend.”
On the other count–I find it strange that you would measure who is “big” and who is “small” by economic status. On that account, I may well be “bigger” than you, but I don’t subscribe to that kind of nonsense. It’s offensive and elitist to make this kind of distinction. That’s what I was criticizing.

the issue of obama’s eligibility has been, for the most part, successfully obfuscated. i believe this was done because of some sort of concensus that “outing” his ineligibility and removing him from office would bring about horrific social upheaval in america and the possiblity of the collapse of the republic. perhaps, perhaps not.
the real issue is what did it cost the soul of america to avoid this rather unpleasant situation? it’s ironic that in arranging for the “birther” issue to be marginalized in a coordinated way to avoid potential disaster, they have taken on a huge spiritual liability…….kind of like monetizing the debt in a way and similar in scope.
we “birthers” only wanted the truth to be known. if that truth was that he was eligible, then so be it but the way in which this issue has been handled lends credence to the conclusion that obama is not eligible.
the soul of america has rotted. thank God Jesus is returning soon.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/beck-packs-the-house-for-restoring-love-sells-more-tickets-at-cowboys-stadium-than-paul-mccartney/
“Glenn Beck’s critics called him crazy for choosing Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas — the largest sports arena in the United States — to hold his historic Restoring Love event. However, not even he could have predicted just how wildly successful it would actually turn out to be.
A source familiar with the event told TheBlaze that there were more than 40,000 tickets sold to Restoring Love as of Friday afternoon. A number larger than when Sir Paul McCartney played in the same arena in 2009. McCartney sold about 36,000 tickets The numbers just goes to show how much public support Beck enjoys.
Based on the set-up of the event, a little more than 40,000 tickets would provide clear site lines and high-quality audio were made available, the source explained.”
Those “empty” seats would be the ones where you can’t see around a pole etc.

You should have come and filled an empty seat and you might see things in a positive light. You wouldn’t be here trying to tear down all that is good and uplifting. Shame on you.

Jul. 29, 2012 at 12:12pmSo your answer to the problem is to force even more people onto the Government for help, rather than helping your local community food pantry or organization. It is apparent you haven’t a clue so let me explain it to you. Back in the pioneering days, there was no food pantry’s, no food stamps or welfare. When someone or a family faced hard times and were facing loosing everything, which was not much back then, usually the town people came to their aid. If they needed food, food was given, if they were behind on land payments, money was raised, if someone was hurt and couldn’t harvest their crop, people in the community helped, same with planting a crop. No matter what the problem was, the Community helped, not the Government. This is what we need to get back to and is the message that Glenn is trying to get out. If We The People stepped up and did more for our communities to help those who are having trouble, then those people would be less likely to look for a Government handout. If you disagree with what I said, then you are nothing but a modern day Scrooge.

Jul. 29, 2012 at 12:51pmI guess it’s true.I won’t worry my little mind about people who like to throw rocks at things that shine.Sad you feel the way you do.There are many people who aren’t leaches that are working but need a helping hand or some elderly who are doing their best to live on their SS that is who we’re talking about.I have a neighbor who goes to work everyday and gas prices and food prices are going up and up she never complains so yes if I have an opportunity to give her some food or an opportunity to help her earn extra money because she is a seamstress I recommend her to friends who can’t afford to take their things to a taylor it helps them and her that’s helping one another it’s not a handout she doesn’t sit and wait for a check in the mail from the government ( tax payers ) which she pays into also yes I will help people like that who aren’t looking to government for anything.

Jul. 29, 2012 at 1:16pmThere were very few empty seats actually. The whole upper deck was empty but he planned it that way. And community service is just that. We don’t help others because we are being told to, we do it because we want to. If it was the job of all those who helped this weekend, chances are they wouldn’t have don’t it with the same vigor as when it was out of the kindness of our heart. That’s what makes America wonderful @goodstuff

Jul. 29, 2012 at 2:26pm@goodstuff…We are sorry that you just don’t get it…yet…I have hope for you. Open your eyes and look around you, at the people who need assistance. Take a minute…put your car in park…assist an old lady (I’m one) with her bad knees and packages, trying to get on a bus…You’d be surprised, how you’d feel after helping someone in need. This is one senario…
But it is love in Action.

Jul. 29, 2012 at 2:46pmHey, ‘Goodstuff’, obviously LOADED with BADstuff, did you see ‘alot of empty seats’ when Pual McCartney played at that same stadium? You MUST have because Glenn Beck sold MORE seats and FILLED more seats than McCartney did. You must be a bafoon and related to mayor ‘doomsburg’ in new york. He doesn’t want the people feedind the poor either, only government. Exactly how big do you want the government to grow and who will pay all their salaries, A+ insurance plans and full retirement packages? Certainly NOT YOU- you’re too stupid to have a job.

At least read the story on the Blaze about the speech at High Point Church! You’ve got to get the true term, “God raised up a Drunken Mormon, (Not many of those around)”. You see, God uses the weak things of this world to confound the strong and the foolish things of this world to CONFOUND the wise! That’s HIS WAY, and Jesus tried to tell us!

Huh? Tail between my legs? Well that’s a grand assumption and not based on any evidence?
@OneTerm
So what you’re saying is that he stole what Dr. King said, and expounded on it? I also doubt Beck said anything more profound then, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
What does the possibility of Dr. King being a Republican have to do with ANYTHING? We are talking about a speech by Glenn Beck, and you then blurt out that you think King was a Republican? How would that play any part in the discussion we are having? It doesn’t, not at all.
I suggest you read the politifact and what they have to say on your claims.
http://www.politifact.com/texas/statements/2011/jan/17/raging-elephants/houston-group-says-martin-luther-king-jr-was-repub/
Can you give me one instance where Martin Luther King Jr. declared himself a Republican? I have yet to see one, but maybe you can provide it.
I would say at most that it is unknown what King’s political affiliations were. Either way, Republican or Democrat, I am still confused why you would need to blurt King’s political affiliation as it has nothing to do with Beck’s speech.

Jul. 29, 2012 at 10:13amWhy don’t you go ahead and drop to your knees and pray outright to Glenn; your worship of him is a bit shameful. Reading these post, one would think that Jesus himself performed. Calm down, step back, take a deep breath, he is just a man taking advantage of scared folks emotins and pocket books. He is not Jesus, or the founding fathers reborn, or even the Prophet that he thinks he is.

Jul. 28, 2012 at 11:28pmI love Beck, but he hast to stop deifying Lincoln. Lincoln did at least as much damage to the country as Andrew Jackson, more I think. Lincoln was the first real elitist big-government President that acted on his own avarice. He spent much of his time in office stomping on the US Constitution and violating the rights of US citizens. I would ask that everyone please read “the Real Lincoln” by Thomas DiLorenzo. Our book club did and the fact checking bears out the author’s conclusions, it is awful what Lincoln and his Generals did. However, if you value the truth, then you MUST value the unvarnished truth about everything.

Jul. 29, 2012 at 12:11amWell let’s see..Lincoln declared that we could print our own money without going through the Rothschild’s Bank and he was assassinated..Andrew Jackson ran on Jackson and no Bank..when they tried to execute him..both of the assassin’s guns failed..Jackson would later say that he knew it was the Rothschilds.. He suceeded in throwing them out and Woodrow Wilson let them back in but lamented upon leaving office that he harmed America by doing so.. Garfield was murdered for speaking out against them and John F Kennedy at the insistance of his brother Bobbly issued an executive order saying we could print our own money without going through them and both were assassinated with Lyndon B Johnson upon taking John’s place rescinded that order.. So, those particular men died trying to help us..

Jul. 29, 2012 at 1:19amLincoln’s situation was vastly different from most presidents, it was the only way he could restore sanity to an otherwise insane situation. It wasn’t like he took great pleasure in doing what he did. What he did know was, despite the differences, a house divided can’t stand on it’s own, so it is with a country at war with itself. A country must be on the same page if it is to survive. You take that and oppose it with what we seen of other presidents like the Roosevelt’s, Lincoln was Regan x2 compared to those dirt bags.
