Clint Eastwood just made Mitt Romney’s day.
The “Dirty Harry” star and Oscar-winning director of “Unforgiven” and “Million Dollar Baby” endorsed the Republican presidential candidate Friday night during a Sun Valley fundraiser.
“I think the country needs a boost,” Eastwood told The Associated Press as he joined other Romney supporters for the private campaign event.
In February, Eastwood told Fox News that he wasn’t supporting any politician at that time. Some saw the “halftime in America” ad he made for the Super Bowl as a nod toward President Barack Obama. Eastwood responded then by saying he was not “politically affiliated” with the president.
“Now more than ever do we need Gov. Romney. I’m going to be voting for him,” Eastwood told Romney supporters Friday night.
“He just made my day,” Romney said. “What a guy.”
Standing at Romney’s side, Eastwood said he was filming “Mystic River” in Massachusetts almost a decade ago when he first saw political advertisements featuring Romney, who was running for governor at the time.
Clint Eastwood as “Dirty Harry”
“I said, God, this guy, he’s too handsome to be governor, but he does look like he could be president,” Eastwood joked. “As the years have gone by I began to think even more so about that.”
Eastwood, 82, said he hoped Romney would restore “a decent tax system that we need badly … so that there’s a fairness and people are not pitted against one another as who’s paying taxes and who isn’t.”
The actor and director instantly became Romney highest-profile celebrity supporter. Romney has also earned the endorsement of Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight and rock star Kid Rock.
A campaign spokesman could not immediately say whether Eastwood would play an active role in the campaign.
About 325 people paid as much as $25,000 apiece to attend the event. Eastwood is a part-time resident of Sun Valley.

Aug. 4, 2012 at 1:05pmLOL, barber and his Alinsky tactics again.
RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)
RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)
Barber using number 11.
You attack Soy and others because you have no solution. You are part of the problem but refuse to accept that. The major problem our nation faces is over spending. Romney doesnt address it. Even 500 billion dollar cuts are not enough. You are just trying to keep your seat at the power table. The fact is for this Republic to live we must get rid of the current parties. The Liberty Movement is the best chance we have to restoring the United States back to the Constitution.

Aug. 4, 2012 at 3:28pmBarber, we are just trying to open your eyes to the reality of the situation here. Romney cannot defeat Obama, it is impossible at this point. He does not have the base he needs. Obama is back up to +3 on the polls: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_election_romney_vs_obama-1171.html
Romney has not been up in the polls for months. With only three months to go, this looks bad for Romney. Even the right leaning MSM Fox poll has Obama ahead by +4 !!
Some on The Blaze (Eagle something or other is one) have told that Romney is going to win by a landslide, after bashing me for supporting Ron Paul. I wish people on here would take Becks advice and research. All you guys do is bash and throw out some ridiculous statement without anything to back it up. Why don’t you start backing up what you say?
When I say, Romney’s campaign along with establishment GOP and RNC leaders violated their own rules, and violated federal law during the primary, I do not just say it, I provide a link, that has links in the article, to back up my statement: http://jaretglenn.wordpress.com/2012/07/31/how-the-republican-party-stole-the-nomination-from-ron-paul/
You can continue to support criminals like Obama and Romney, but I will not. You bash Obama for his Chicago Style politics, but you say it is OK for Republicans to do the same. Shows your character if that is the case.

I agree we need to be saved but the solution you have chosen is not much different.
1. What does Romney do that is going to fix class warfare?
2. Romney believes in man made global warming, not sure he is the man to take on the EPA.
3. How does he build up the private sector? The private sector and the rest of the economy will be collapsing if we dont cut the overspending, balance the budget, and reign in the FED.
4. I agree we need more pride in America. What does Romney do on that front?
5. I also agree we need God in America. Which god though. I dont worship the god the Mormons worship. I worship the God of the Bible and the Jesus Christ of the Bible. Muslims also would say we need more god, but I dont want their god either.

Aug. 4, 2012 at 3:00amOh, and there’s this from Clint:
“These people who are making a big deal out of gay marriage?” Eastwood opined. “I don’t give a f%^& about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not?! We’re making a big deal out of things we shouldn’t be making a deal out of. . . They go on and on with all this bullsh!t about ‘sanctity’ — don’t give me that sanctity crap! Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want.”
Guess Clint didn’t go to Chick Fil A.

Aug. 4, 2012 at 3:23amI feel the same way as Clint. Allowing them to get married is no stain on our faith, it is between them and God…and if He wants a private chat with them come judgement day, then so be it.
Let’s get this nonsense overwith and stop wasting valuable time/money/breath on something God will sot out in the proper time.
Jesus told us not to judge, lest we be judged…trying to stop them from doing something to begin with, so we don’t have a need to judge them…is just as bad.
After the first 100 publicized cases where they get married and one side gets taken to the cleaners in the divorce (like heterosexual men do)…they’ll go back to living together instead.
Of course, I’d hate to be the judge trying to figure out who the “man” in the marriage is.

Aug. 4, 2012 at 4:04amGOD made marriage, It is He who joins together, let not man separate what he has joined….. GOD WOULD NEVER JOIN HOMOS, IT IS AN ABOMINATION, YOU CANNOT GET WORSE THAN THAT!!! SO IT IS TRULY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE SAME SEX TO MARRY, ALL WHO THINK THAT THE SMAE SEX SHOULD DO ANYTHING ARE A BUNCH OF IDIOTS.

Aug. 4, 2012 at 4:30amI don’t care either who marries who but this is about freedom of speech. When other companies have different viewpoints, politicians stay out of it but here they want them to keep them out of their cities which is illegal. We don’t have a Chic Fil A here but I would have gone to support freedom of speech.

Aug. 4, 2012 at 10:42amALMIGHTY CHRIST OFF . . . Who’s the man? Good question. maybe it’d be easier to figure out who’s the women. Go with the soft-spoken person with the long hair an dazzling blue eyes and long flowing robes. Oh, wait, that’s Jesus. Sorry. I thought he was a woman. Eeeeeeeewwwwwww.

Aug. 4, 2012 at 2:57amyet another chance for conservatives to display their lack of conviction – Eastwood is a traitor on Super Bowl Sunday and a stalwart Republican today. He voted for Perot. You know that, right?

Aug. 4, 2012 at 3:08amI really don’t think he was endorsing Obama during that Superbowl commercial, he has always been a supporter of the American auto industry. And as for Perot, of the 3 choices, he was the most conservative, just crazy.
Besides, you do know at one point Reagan was a Democrat, and at this point, Romney needs all the help he can get.
At the polls, he will be there, saying, “Alright Punk, did you take 1 ballot or 2? Go ahead and try voter fraud, make my day.”

Aug. 4, 2012 at 4:33amBig deal, I voted for Perot because I was mad at Bush. I vote for the person but in the last few years the dems have fallen from grace. Even Republicans are to blame for our messes. I wish there was a moderate third party but it will never happen. It is usually the far right or left that run under a third party. I do regret voting for Perot so now I can’t see wasting my vote on a third party candidate anyway.

Aug. 4, 2012 at 7:34am@SIMONNE~~~ Don’t waste your vote this year.
Vote ROMNEY unless Allen West runs in his place. Oh, be still my PATRIOTIC heart!!!
Staying home and not voting is a vote for obama.
That is the truth.
This is why we must get AMERICANS (REAL AMERICANS) to the polls to vote FOR AMERICA.
We will continue to take care of business after the election.
