Controversial TN Mosque to Officially Open Today With Midday Prayer

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (TheBlaze/AP) — It’s been a long-fought battle, but it’s finally opening day for a Tennessee mosque after opponents waged a two-year court battle trying to stop it.

Leaders of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro say they intend to hold midday prayers in the new building Friday.

Their quest to see the house of worship open took a turn in April when opponents of the then-proposed mosque made their case against it at trial. Then, construction was subsequently nearly halted in May when a state court ruled the public didn’t get enough notice that the center was planned.

Last month, a federal judge granted the mosque’s request for an emergency order that would open the building in time for the holy month of Ramadan, which is still under way.

The controversy came with some bizarre elements as well. Eric Allen Bell, a liberal filmmaker, came out in support of the mosque and even began putting together a film defending its creation back in 2012. Oddly, he reportedly changed sides this year and began fighting against the house of worship.

Rutherford County officials cleared the building for use by issuing a temporary occupancy permit this week. WBIR has more about the steps that will need to be taken to secure a permanent occupancy certificate:

David Jones, director of the county’s Building Codes Department, said some landscaping work remains to be done at the mosque. Some minor work remains to be done on the fire alarm as well, said the state fire marshal’s office.

Once that work is completed, a permanent occupancy permit can be issued.

“We are hoping to build bridges with the rest of the community, especially with those who might have second thoughts about our congregation,” said mosque board member Saleh Sbenaty, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Mosque leaders say they hope the joy the worshippers feel can now be shared by the community southeast of Nashville.

Yes, tell us how many Christians bombed abortion clinics or murdered doctors, and please, provide links. But I will guarantee you it is not as many as the Muslims who commit atrocities every damn week of the year. There is a story about Muslims doing something every week.
Also, the supposed Christian who committed heinous acts didn’t always do it in the name of Jesus Christ, they were just psychotic. The Muslims commit their acts in the name of allah. Get your story straight.
The ultimate goal of a “true” Muslim is a One World Caliphate. No Christians, no other religions.

Those that kill are not following Christian doctrine. You shall know a tree by its fruit. If the fruit is death, it is not a Christian tree. Translation for nevermindless. not a Christian. Muslims follow a political doctrine of bondage, death and destruction like their “profit.” From the fruit you can see who they follow. Allah is Satan. Read the Islamic antichrist. It is a great book and it illustrates Satan’s counterfeit. The doctrine is the mirror image of Christian and Jewish end time prophecy.

I do not stand against a person’s right in the USA to “worship” as they wish. The freedom of religion comes from out Judeo-Christian roots. It is patterned after the concept of free will. The line must be drawn when beliefs lead to endangerment of others and violate the rule of law – out law – not Shariah.

For those of you that DO NOT live in Murfreesboro, You really do NOT have the right or place to judge us. This has been a farce from the start. The facts of this are obviously lost on you all. Islam is an oppressive Social and political structure that HIDES behind the mask of religion. They will NOT live peacable in the community. They are tied to the moslem Brotherhood and this compound is a symbol to them… it is, historically in islam, a symbol of conquest over the region. Do some flipping homework on the actual history of Islam. You who are “appologist” will be the first the murder… You are incapable of standing for anything.

I understand that yokels indoctrinated into a brand of rural Christianity (very much like Islam) that demands cultural and political hegemony will have a hard time thinking outside the box, but try to process the fact that the laws of this country will never bend to accommodate your xenophobia. You are allowed to be as tribalistic, imbecilic, and piously deluded as you want, but please keep in mind that if everyone in this country were like you and your ilk we would be living in a slightly less arid Afghanistan.

I agree that Islam is a terrible, terrible thing for the world, but you have to understand that people like you are in bed with the worst Muslim extremists. You would rather be stupid and pious than informed and accommodating.

“That, as it is the duty of every man to worship God in such manner as he thinks most acceptable to Him, all persons are equally entitled to protection in their religious liberty: wherefore, no person ought, by any law, to be molested in his person or estate on account of his religious persuasion or profession, or for his religious practice, unless, under the color of religion, he shall disturb the good order, peace, or safety of the state, or shall infringe the laws of morality, or injure others in their natural, civil, or religious rights; nor ought any person to be compelled to frequent or maintain or contribute, unless on contract, to maintain any place of worship or any ministry; nor shall any person, otherwise competent, be deemed incompetent as a witness or juror on account of his religious belief: provided, he believes in the existence of God, and that, under His dispensation, such person will be held morally accountable for his acts, and be rewarded or punished therefor, either in this world or the world to come. That no religious test ought ever to be required as a qualification for any office of profit or trust in this state, other than a declaration of belief in the existence of God; nor shall the legislature prescribe any other oath of office than the oath prescribed by this constitution.”

A pox on this mosque! This is NOT about religious freedom, as the leaders of this mosque claim. It is about getting another foothold in America to spread their violent religion. It is about ultimate control. The good people of Murfreesboro did not want this. The local judge ruled against its opening. I have, from a very reliable source (and the newspaper) that the leaders of this mosque have been sending instructions to the local school system about how to treat and teach the muslim children who will be coming there. Not just a pamphlet, mind you, but 4 yrs of continuous reminders that muslim children are to be treated a certain way. Indoctrination? Special treatment? Whatever it is.. it is concernng to say the least. Yes, I live in Tennessee.

      @ Andy
Actually, it was made great by 200 years of being a nation with strong Christian values.

“Every constitution of every one of the 44 states contains language which…recognizes a profound reverence for religion, and an assumption that its influence in all human affairs is essential to the well-being of the community.”

e.g. Maryland 1867: “That, as it is the duty of every man to worship God in such manner as he thinks most acceptable to Him, all persons are equally entitled to protection in their religious liberty…nor shall any person, otherwise competent, be deemed incompetent as a witness or juror on account of his religious belief: provided, he believes in the existence of God, and that, under His dispensation, such person will be held morally accountable for his acts.”

Massachusetts 1780: “It is the right as well as the duty of all men in society publicly, and at stated seasons, to worship the Supreme Being, the great Creator and Preserver of the universe…As the happiness of a people and the good order and preservation of civil government essentially depend upon piety, religion, and morality…Therefore, to promote their happiness, and to secure the good order and preservation of their government, the people of this commonwealth have a right to invest their legislature with power to authorize and require…at their own expense, for the institution of the public worship of God.” http://vftonline.org/EndTheWall/TrinityHistory.htm

So, although Maryland is not Federal Constitution, I think it’s wisdom applies. Muslims have every right to build a mosque providing they are promoting healthy, civil, and moral conduct.

If they are not, then people have a right to be concerned.

@ Bruce P. : If you actually knew anything about Christian values, you would know that they are not achieved SIMPLY from the Bible, but by a good deal of prayer and communion with God.

The Articles of the Confederation and the Constitution were not laws for the people (as in quotes from the Bible) so much as they were an establishment of government. A goverment that was arguably brought about after much prayer and reflection. It was unheard of in it’s day, and it does indeed rely heavily on a moral people for it to work. If the people have no basis for morality, it is very easy for corruption to creep in. Already, we have a government of corrupt leaders because we have elected them. Government leaders who ignore our laws and seek thier own power. America falling right back into tyranny is just around the corner if we don’t take steps to stop it.

Let’s get this right. An area that has according to what I’ve read or heard, maybe 26 members in the viscinity. And the Islamic Society build a MegaMall sized Mosque which can seat tens of thousands of people.
It doesn’t add up and it certainly is a laundering point for questionable activities counter to the demands or needs of the local Muslim people.
I can understand if the local place had a need for a Mega Sized Mosque to service the religious faith of Muslim people in the area. But it doesn’t. Its a grotesque monstrosity of super sized.
And what experience around the world happens when exuberiant Islam moves in, is supersized headaches for indigenous people follow. Islam over runs places, and thus follows nothing but problems. Attacks on young girls, schools get petitioned for Islamic prayer rooms, cateterias must follow halal food handling and food preparations regiments. Everything all goes down the poopster accomodating Islam.
And what’s worse, as the Muslim influence increases, Islam attacks you for not being respectful to Islam Old World traditions.
So, incoming demands for Sharia Laws will take precident over common law because common law offends the religious practices of Sharia.

We can’t demand our freedom of religion (or freedom from it) and deny others the same with the expectations that our freedoms will remain intact. Even if Islam is ten times worse that its greatest detracts claim it is, it still must be allowed open its Mosques. We will defeat them in the market place of ideas. If they do actually support or commit terrorism, then bring forth the evidence and we will defeat them in the court of law.

Islam has proven time and again to be incompatible with a civil society, yet we’re pretending this time will be different. Nothing like having to continually clean up our own messes, although this issue in particular is going to be one helluva doozy once it matures.

You can’t reason with beings that have murder, hate and envy flowing thru their blood. You also can’t waste time on those that don’t have the stones to call out the bottom feeders amongst their own. Best to stiff-arm them all and suffer the political consequences which, unless you’re a leftist, beat the hell outta death.

Let’s make no mistake about it. Islam is a fascist ideology, clothed as a “religion,” that advocates the murder of anyone who doesn’t believe as they do. They call their mosques their barracks, and they themselves say jihad is their goal. Jihad, meaning genocide against all the rest of us.

Look at their 1400-year history of plunder, genocide and occupation. Their no-go zones are a symbol of their self-apartheid, supremacy, and occupation. Once they increase their numbers in these no-go zones they then begin to secede from the countries that they occupy, and then they begin their lawless killing and burning of Christian Churches and anyone who refuses to submit to Islam and pay the jizya (Muslim tax), as they are doing all over the Middle East and Africa with impunity. Case in point, the Boko Haram in Africa who are terrorizing Christian Africans and murdering them and burning down their Churches as we speak. Not to mention what the Turkish al Qaeda rebels are doing in Syria where they just hung a small Shiite child after murdering his family.

It won’t be long before they start doing the same thing in America and all the rest of Western Civilization, because the best predictor of future history is past history. To ignore Islam’s brutal aggression and occupation and self-professed supremacy is to hasten the fall of Western Civilization and the end of freedom, and it is to relegate our progeny to slavery to Islam’s sword of intolerance, plunder, genocide and occupat

Call it what you want, but understand it is true. Say it every day in every thread if you must, but understand there are people in this country that actually are able to analyze and reason and feel a moral responsibility to protect those that don’t, regardless of political consequence. I guess you could say it’s in “our” blood.

Unlike people like you, we don’t fear these people, that’s why we possess the moral courage to call the ball and draw the line. Yeah, we’ll end up saving your narrow ass, also. That’s just how we roll. Trust, but verify.

The question is, Encinom, how do you stop Islam’s absolute bigotry where they require you to submit (Islam means submit) to Islam’s sword of intolerance and pay the jizya, or they kill you? How do you combat that? The least we can do, who understand Islam’s 1400 years of plunder, mass genocide, and occupation, is to enlighten people into their utter deceit and deception in America, where they continue to preach their hatred of the infidel in their mosques, bought and paid for by the Saudis who have outlawed the building of Christian churches in their own country. How do we monitor their preaching in these mosques when we know what the Qu’ran teaches?

Mohammed, their prophet, waged jihad against the “infidel” every six weeks until he died. When he died there was not an enemy left standing. He did it by terrorizing everyone by going into Medina and beheading all the Jews there and taking their wives as sex slaves and their children as slaves. They are the greatest of slave masters, that’s why they require the jizya. To wage continual jihad. Mohammed required you to submit and pay the jizya, or he killed you. There are no grey areas in Islam’s fascism. Read the Qu’ran, and the Hadith, and remember that the earlier more peaceful verses have been abrogated by the later ones.

As we speak, the OIC is now silencing us, with the cooperation of BO-Clinton and all the leaders of Western Civilization. They orchestrated their Days of Rage over the burning of the Qu’ran to

Only thing “controversial” about this house of worship is bigots not liking it, this is a made up story and is quite pathetic. UNless it is an Al Queda training camp it should be allowed to open just as Christian and Jewish houses of worship. If we want to punish a whole religion when a few do awful things in thier name there there wouldnt be a single christian church in the USA. How many loving ” christians” have bombed abortion clinincs or murdered doctors that perform them? Tiller was just a few years back. So if we punish a religion for acts commited by its followers lets be consistent.

You know the bible talks about ” removing the plank out of your own eye then you can see clearly to remove the speck form your brothers eye” so first focus on your loving “christians ” then worry about others. The nice Neo Nazi Christian warroir that shot up the temple in WI is a good example of Christian problems.

According to Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy according to a study done on the U.S. mosques and found that 81% were actively teaching jihd as part of their mission, an 60% had imams who wer actively involved in jihad causes. This can be found TheRightScoop.com June 12, 2011, https://therightscoop.com/gaffney-81-of-us-mosques-promote-jihad/.

It is difficult for a tolerant society to absorb a people who do not share its value of tolerance. Especially when those intolerant people can be protected by the very laws which guarantee that tolerance but are not equipped to protect itself from being manipulated . Once these people are in the door, they can use the law to ” change” the law. Look at what changes the Obama Democrats have ” accomplished ” in the last 3 1/2 years.
