‘Utterly Poor Taste’: Jeb Bush Blasts Alan Grayson’s Interference in Republican Primary

By all appearances, Alan Grayson is desperate to get back into Congress. Having been unceremoniously tossed out of Congress in 2010 after running a campaign which many observers found to be crass and dishonest, Grayson apparently very much wants to bring his characteristic brand of bile back to the House of Representatives. In fact, so determined is he to do so that he has started actually running his own attack ads in the Republican primary for Florida’s 9th District (where Grayson is running), trying to put potentially threatening candidates out of the running before they even start really trying.

In this case, Grayson is running an ad against John Quinones, a Puerto Rican Florida state legislator agreed by many to have the best chance of holding down the very blue-leaning district if he wins the Republican primary. Grayson, of course, doesn’t want that to happen, since a competent opponent would make his job harder. As such, he is running ads against Quinones claiming that the latter tried to raise taxes. Grayson is even quoting former Florida Governor Jeb Bush in the ads.

Bush, however, doesn’t take kindly to this appropriation of his own views. He has publicly called on Grayson to keep his hands off the Republican race, saying this according to the Huffington Post:

“I encourage Mr. Grayson to take down his ads, stay out of the Republican primary and let the voters of Central Florida to choose their nominee without his help,” Bush said in a statement Friday. “There will be plenty of time for Mr. Grayson to defend his liberal tax-and-spend record in the fall.”[...]

“I find it in utterly poor taste that Alan Grayson would use my statements, misquoted and out of context, for political gain,” he said in his statement.

“Utterly poor taste.” Sounds like Alan Grayson.

It should be noted that Grayson’s tactic here could backfire. Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill tried something similar against one of her primary opponents, Rep. Todd Akin, only to have Akin cruise to the nomination because he was seen as the greatest threat to McCaskill. Granted, McCaskill’s ad accuses Akin of being “too conservative,” whereas Grayson’s accuses Quinones of being too willing to compromise conservative ideals on tax policy. However, sometimes having a Democratic nominee take aim at you is just what the doctor ordered for a struggling Republican campaign.

One of best things to come out of my “Insider Extreme” subscription in 2010 was watching Glenn, Pat & Stu celebrate Alan Greyson’s defeat. I humbly request The Blaze include a clip of Pat singing “Happy Days are here again, Alan Greyson lost his seat again!” song with this piece.

I just realized why I didn’t like Democrats, They have gone too far to the left, too liberal. What happened to the Democratic Party? In years past, I registered as a Republican but I always have voted for what I felt was the best canidate in all the electons, Republican, Democrat or Libertarian. But now I vote straight Republican. Notice how many Democrats have changed parties???? They are dissatified with their party too. Interesting.

Pick up a history book every now and then. most informed voters I know cross party lines whe. They have to to pick the best candidate. However,democrats almost never do that. They almost never deviate from the parties message. Why? Are the democrats always the best candidate? I find that hard to believe.

  government has no place in such matters and nor should get involved with such matters. the poor woman WAS brain dead ( proven after death by the size of her brain being smaller than a quater) why who knows could be because she was shoved down a flight of stairs or something else.   Second if he is, or might be, is the Blaze saying he can’t run ads? These ads are called “attack ads” but is the Blaze saying that it’s somehow unusual or unpatriotic to “attack” in a political campaign, in the sense of challenging their positions? Are the ads false? I notice there is no mention of the content of these so called “attack ads.” Are they true.
  
  Is this an attack against Grayson based on something you are afraid to show? Why not show what Grayson is saying?

  JZS. As I read the story, Grayson is going to be running AS A DEMOCRAT. Normally, Democrats run ads against Democrats for the primary. He is apparently running ads in the REPUBLICAN primary campaign trying to sway the GOP electorate to not vote for who Grayson perceives as his biggest threat. If this is not illegal, it would seem to be highly immoral, at the very least, which is something that the left doesn’t have a problem with anymore. It seems that the Party and the Candidate are all important, We The People do not matter.

  JZS – Yes Grayson is running. There was a new district drawn up in the area…..the district he represented where he got his hat handed to him in a re-election bid grew in size so another one was drawn (currently no one represents it). He is the only Dem on the ticket. There are primaries to be held next week and a couple of Republicans are running to go against Grayson in Nov.
  
  The Blaze and Jeb Bush are not saying Grayson can’t run……he DOESN’T have anything to do with next week’s primary so he should shut his mouth and let the GOP pick their candidate to go against him…..once that’s settled then he can run his tactless, lying ads like the one’s that got him kicked out of office in ’10.

  PROGRESSIVESLAYER, LOL, I grew up on those as much as I did original Mickey Mouse Clubhouse runs. I remember my parents buying our first color TV in ’64 and still concerned that so many shows were still in B&W. Those were the shows that we grew up on and while my two sisters and I tried some of their antics we even knew that it was fake and worked out our attempts. Nobody ever got stuck in the eyes or anything else. Slapstick is nothing more than slapstick. But, with today’s public education, I would not doubt what might happen.

  PROGRESSIVESLAYER and MONK, here is a kicker. I went to basic training back in early ’77 with a nephew of LARRY. The guy favored him in the face pretty well, but had to have been 6’4″ or taller, and looked like he could have been an NFL football player. Really a nice guy though.
