MSNBC Again Tries to Pin Down Robert Gibbs on Anti-Romney Ad — and Robert Gibbs Again Dodges
Perhaps because he enjoyed making White House Press Secretary Jay Carney squirm last Friday with questions about the pro-Obama PAC Priorities USA’s “Romney Killed My Wife” ad, MSNBC’s Chuck Todd on Monday decided to do the same with Obama Senior Adviser Robert Gibbs.
And much like Carney, Gibbs has been unable to form an opinion on the ad (like last week on MSNBC).
“Let me tell you,” Gibbs said after being asked whether the Obama campaign would say or do anything in response to the fraudulent “Romney Kills” ad. “This has been perpetuated mostly by the Romney campaign. Let me tell you this, Chuck, the Romney campaign long ago gave up their opinion to be pious on this ad and any ad.”
“Let’s examine one that we know is running, not on the web, just on Fox News. An ad that’s on television that says Barack Obama has done away with the work requirement for welfare. That ad is nothing but a lie. Mitt Romney’s entire presidential campaign right now is built around a lie. Mitt Romney’s on that ad saying he approved it and it’s a lie,” Gibbs added.
“But is the rationalization well, they do it, so we’re going to do it?” asked Todd. “Are you comfortable with that ad?”
“Chuck, I don’t have any control over that ad. I’m not part of Priorities Super PAC,” Gibbs said, reiterating the White House’s non-position.
Todd reminded Gibbs that when it came to John Edwards’ campaign during the 2008 Democrat presidential primaries, Obama’s people had absolutely no problem condemning or calling on others to condemn third party advertisements.
“Because, look,” Gibbs said, “I don’t remember or get into the John Edwards thing. I know this. You have an ad that our campaign has nothing to do with.”
Except that, you know, the PAC’s founder is a former White House spokesman and, as Todd points out, cabinet members have actually raised money for the PAC. Oh, yeah, let’s not forget the fact that the star of the “Romney Kills” ad has worked closely with the Obama campaign.

Posted on August 14, 2012 at 10:20amIf you repeat a lie often enough then you begin to believe it is true. I’m pretty sure this is outlined quite well in “Rule for Radicals” or “The Little Blue Book”. Ironically, much of the left blames the right for things that the left is really guilty of.

Posted on August 13, 2012 at 7:36pmIt’s so much fun watching the left attempt to wriggle their way through the mazes they create after lying about about a political point, as relates to the other side. Their problem…..they actually believe they are too smart for the average person to understand what they are trying too do. They are absolutely pathetic.

Posted on August 13, 2012 at 6:35pmInteresting how the media has the same talking points. ‘This is no longer a referendum on Obama it is now a choice.’ This is the same message coming from 5 networks and 15 ‘alleged’ journalists. These points probably came from Media Matters.
Then Biden and Gibbs came up with the same talking point saying that Ryan’s budget would have killed their fathers.
This was just after both Biden and Obama came out at different events praising Romney and Ryan for being great guys but…
The liberal media and politician’s talking points are so apparent and yet liberal Americans just don’t want to see them.

Posted on August 13, 2012 at 5:42pmThe thing is that the law says that the campaigns can not do or say anything about these ads. If the ones who are paying for the ads change because of the campaign then they will run afoul of the law.
So, basically, Obama’s silence is a way to ensure the PAC continues to run these ads.

Posted on August 13, 2012 at 4:27pmAll Obama has to do is say publically, that he thinks the ad is in bad taste, and over-the-top. Then he says that he has contacted the Super Pac and asked them to stop running the ad.
The next day the Super Pac sends out a press release that basically states that the Super Pac seriously considered the president’s words, but that this Super Pac was designed to not only help Barrack Obama get elected, but also to serve America’s best interests. In that spirit the board of directors of this Super Pac will continue to air the ad.
So whenever the president or one of it’s staff is asked again about the ad and it’s veracity, they can say; “Well the president tried to make them stop, but he has no control over what they produce.”
Problem solved.
