By now, most Blaze readers are likely familiar with David Barton and the controversy surrounding his new book, “The Jefferson Lies,” which TheBlaze’s Billy Hallowell has painstakingly sifted through in a series of articles that can be viewed here and here to glean greater insight into the matter.
Hallowell, who has interviewed Barton, Thomas Nelson publishers and key Barton-critic Dr. Warren Throckmorton, notes that the controversy is a complicated one “that involves multiple layers comprised of a litany of historical and theological ideals and themes.” And indeed it does.
Glenn Beck welcomed David Barton, a friend, on his Thursday evening program to tackle the issue face-to-face. He said that Barton is one of the most “honest and decent” men he knows and that, while he won’t question the motives of the historian’s detractors, doesn’t question Barton’s integrity for a moment.
