‘Go F**k Yourself’: GOP Senate Candidate Says He’s Not Sorry for Telling Reporter Off

Republican Senate candidate Michael Baumgartner said he's not apologizing for telling a local reporter "go f--k yourself."
A U.S. Senate candidate in Washington state said Tuesday he’s not apologizing for telling a local reporter to “go f–k yourself” — and said the reporter “had it coming.”
Republican hopeful Michael Baumgartner acknowledged to the Associated Press he sent the emailed directive to reporter Josh Feit of the Seattle political blog PubliCola following an interview about Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin. A written statement from Baumgartner’s campaign indicated he sent it out of frustration that more media attention was being given to Akin’s controversial rape comments instead of Baumgartner’s platform of ending the war in Afghanistan.
The statement did include an apology for Baumgartner’s “strong language” — but the candidate seemed to retract it during an interview with local news station KIRO-TV.
“Let me just say, Josh had it coming in this email, and I don’t apologize,” Baumgartner, a state senator, told KIRO. “Look, it’s a naughty word. It doesn’t amount to a whole lot.”
Feit said he received the email from Baumgartner Monday night containing a photo of Baumgartner with someone who recently died in Afghanistan.
“Josh, this is Pat Feeks, a Navy SEAL killed last week in Afghanistan. Take a good look and then go (expletive) yourself,” the email stated.
Feit said he tried unsuccessfully to reach the Baumgartner campaign after receiving the email. He said during their interview about Akin’s comments — prompted because Baumgartner has similarly strict anti-abortion views — the candidate expressed frustration that more attention wasn’t being given to the war in Afghanistan. Baumgartner previously did diplomatic work in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the AP.
“The issue here is not whether a bad word was said or not,” Baumgartner told KIRO. “Maybe it angers people, maybe it doesn’t. Trust me, the guy had it coming. The issue here is the ongoing war in Afghanistan and the complete lack of leadership of bringing that war to a close.”
Baumgartner is running to unseat Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 4:57pmI see no reason for someone to use profanity when they “talk” to someone because it usually shows someone with a lack of knowledge of words. He should not have said it but I will not hold it against him for his emotional outburst. I pray that he starts truly believing in using more appropriate wording from now on because using profanity like IS a big deal in any situation. I know that I won’t “condemn” him because I have gotten aggravated a time or two and let bad words slip out and I believe even more strongly against all this PC garbage that everyone seems to tout on so much.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 5:43pmPhooey. All of us are pushed too hard sometimes, not a person alive hasn’t lost their cool. We all know how the media is today with their biases and this is Washington state to boot. Give it a break–all of them want Republicans to respond to Missouri’s dilemma so they can get to rape and abortion. It was a set up and every liberal news media is on the attack. The Senator doesn’t need to respond at all simply because the Republican campaign has withdrawn funds from the Missouri candidate. We should be more worried about winning Mo. toss up state from a guy who is as arrogant and all about me (sounds like Obama) and not for the good of the country. Yes, we do want to elevate our side and we have. This ain’t nothing like the Union leadership calling all tea party–Sum—-fill in the blank. We are dealing with some of the meanest people and I am glad he stood up. And p s I am a Christian. I walk around in my mind all day every day and it is not all I want it to be, but that’s what it’s all about, Alfie. If you’re a perfect Christian then you must be Jesus and walk on water.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 5:57pmI have an extensive vocabulary and a great working knowledge of the English language. That said, sometimes telling someone “go F yourself” is the only way to express your sentiment. It in no way makes you an illiterate or grammatically crippled. I believe whole heartedly in being a gentleman, chivalry, manners, living by example and living to serve others. By the way sometimes violence does solve the problem. Sometimes it’s the ONLY answer!

Posted on August 23, 2012 at 2:50amThe President set the precedent. “whose a$$ to kick” came before this. If the reporter was trying to bash me by throwing up a picture of me standing beside a soldier, a Navy SEAL in this case, only days before he was killed in the very war I was trying to help bring to a close as the main theme of my whole career in politics, I would say the reporter had it comiong, too. He could have instead looked at it like “well that is exactly why I am trying so hard to help make a path for us to get done and get out with a clear victory because the weight of every soldier and sailor’s life that is lost is as personal to me as this one is.” I would go 50/50 on this one. Why in the heck was this reporter baiting him?! Was he? It seems there were a lot more words exchanged in emails before the picture and that we are seeing something in mid conversation so it is something we may be taking out of context. Many will argue that there is never a good excuse for foul language. I tend to think back in the “Temple of Doom” moment when Indiana is on the middle of the rope bridge and being converged upon by thugees on both sides, that would have been an appropriate time to say what he said. In real world I could not rule out the possibility that there would ever NOT be an appropriate time for such language because there’s only one absolute (God) so it’s pointless to speculate or speak in absolutes. Sure can use nicer words but this shows his troop support on a very personal level.

When a person has to resort to language like this he creates first impressions by who do not know him as crude and unable to articulate his thoughts without resorting to the vernacular of an ‘occupier’! That casts him as someone a conservative would rather not send to the senate.

Losing your temper with a reporter gives them power, reporting pulp, and instant fame. Subtlety is better than rage inducing first-person expletive vernacular. And to do it in an email, “What was he thinking”?
Better to ignore the reporter for the rest of his career. Or, even better call them by a name other than their own at all possible opportunities. If their name is Bob call them Bill. And ignore the actual newsrag like the Sentinal Daily they report for but state out loud during press conference that you want to answer questions to reporter Bob of “Coming Out” magazine. If they correct you state “Ok your not ready to come out of the closet, yet”. How’s you partner Joe?”
Just sayin’ turn the reporter into the story by saying “I thought you were still in prison for molestation”. Or, “Aren’t you the President of NAMBLA-North American Man Boy Love Association”?
The opportunities are endless. Keep your cool and impugn the heck out of these worthless reporters as if they are gum on the soles of your shoe. Which they are ;-)

Oh get off it…..in terms of “setting a good example”, Democrats are no better; in fact they are worse! How about Eric Holder and his refusal to prosecute the Black Panthers over voter intimidation, there’s a good example of the rule of law applying to everyone. How about Obama’s “transparency”, have no clue why he has a connecticut ssn, or why we can’t see his school records. How about the DNC refusing to repay the Connecticut township $14000 for the extra overtime by their police force while Obama was in town for a $35000 a plate fund raiser? There’s a good example (in other words, don’t pay your bills). How about the Harry Reid calling Romney a tax dodger based on a phone call from “some guy”? Theres a good example to set. How about Cutter implying Romney is a murderer for letting some woman die of cancer, when that woman died six years after Bain Capital closed that steel plant, and at that time, Bain was controlled by an Obama bundler?
And you are concerned that a republican told a jounalist to, and I paraphrase, screw yourself?
