In a bid to recreate the magic he had with young voters in 2008, President Obama’s campaign has released an ad featuring the stars of the popular “Harold and Kumar” movie series. The two characters are mostly known for smoking a lot of marijuana, which then gets them into all kinds of outrageous high jinx throughout each movie — pun very much intended. There are also many instances of nudity, profanity and other behavior that many people would find offensive.

The ad begins with Obama dialing a number on a phone inside the White House.

“Hey, this is Barack. Listen, I need to know if you’re on board,” Obama begins. “OK, good. ‘Cause I’m counting on you, everybody is. We have to get this right. So there is a lot at stake here. Just remember that I am trusting you on this and I’ll see you there.”

The shot then cuts to actors Kal Penn, sitting next to John Cho, the two stars from the marijuana-centric “Harold and Kumar” comedy series. The pair are sitting on a couch watching what sounds like cartoons and eating junk food, looking as if they may be stoned. If they weren’t supposed to be stoned, the ad certainly played on all the obvious “stoner” stereotypes.

“Dude, who was that? It sounded intense.” Cho (Harold) asks Penn (Kumar).

“The president,” Penn replies calmly.

“Sweet,” his co-star says, stuffing another Cheeto in his mouth before they both start cracking up at the television set.

Penn, former associate director for the White House Office of Public Engagement, is one of Obama’s most loyal Hollywood supporters, and there are quite a few. The video explains that he will host the Thursday live stream of the Democratic National Convention on BarackObama.com. Penn will also address the convention Tuesday night, NBC News reports.

President Obama himself was once a regular user of marijuana during his “Choom Gang” days, according to his own autobiography “Dreams From My Father.”

  I agree. haha. I think this hurts Obama rather than helps him. But then it might be true that he consorts with a couple guys high on the couch watching cartoons as his campaign managers.

  Actually, Obama cracked down on the weed dispensaries in California than Bush ever did. Also, it’s become harder to find marijuana since the hypocrite Obama became president. Anyone who smokes weed who supports him is hurting their own cause, as it’s us Libertarians who believe you have the right to do what you want in your own home as long as you don’t infringe on the rights of others. I find the poll offensive, this ad is Obama, and his electorate. This ad is dead on but for the wrong reasons, it could have been put out by the RNC. That is Obamas constituency in a nutshell.

  On top of being stoners the guys are racist as hell. In their movies they disprove all of the stereotypes such as when Harold and Kumar break down in the hood a bunch of black guys turn out to be nice and only want to help fix their car. But when they come across white people the white couple are cousins and have a inbred child. America needs to realize the most racist people don’t have white skin.

Yeah Barry..this should get the independents flocking in droves to vote for you again.
Obama’s stuck with the knowledge that if he can’t shake every lefty vote out of every tree and from under every rock he’s toast. So now he’s doing a “wink-wink” with the stoner crowd in a desperate attempt to get them to the voting booths in November. He’s betting on a reliably unreliable group of slackers. Likely..they’ll forget it’s voting day and stay home anyway.
