Nervous? Obama Camp Distances Itself From Video Played at DNC That Says We ‘Belong’ to Gov’t

Yesterday, a video played at the Democratic National Convention sent the Internet ablaze after it featured a voice saying glowingly that we “belong” to government. And now, the Obama campaign and the DNC are scrambling to distance themselves.

“We do believe you can use government in a good way. Government is the only thing we all belong to,” the narrator says, with the words “Democratic National Convention” appearing in the bottom left. “We’re different churches, different clubs, but we’re together as a part of our city, or our county, or our state — and our nation,” the narrator adds. But despite the video playing on the convention floor, the two major players at the convention quickly passed blame.

“The video in question was produced and paid for by the host committee of the city of Charlotte. It’s neither an OFA nor a DNC video, despite what the Romney campaign is claiming,” the Obama campaign told Buzzfeed. “It’s time for them to find a new target for their faux outrage.”

Dan Murrey, executive director of the host committee, fell on his sword:

The “Welcome to Charlotte” video was solely produced and paid for by the Host Committee’s New American City Fund, which promotes the city of Charlotte and welcomes our guests. The intent of this video was to tell the story of this region and it is completely unaffiliated with the Obama campaign or the Democratic National Committee.

The reference by the campaign to Romney has to do with a tweet sent out from his official Twitter account mocking the phrase:

But even though the campaign and the DNC want to distance themselves, the idea of the preeminence of government is alive and well at the convention, meaning the video fits right in with the message and the disavowing is curious. For example, Fox’s Chris Wallace observed after Michelle Obama’s Tuesday night speech:

“I’ve got to say, listening closely to the speech one of the things that struck me was it was all about government,” Wallace said Tuesday night during Fox News’ coverage of the DNC. “When she talked at the beginning about the people who exemplify the best of the American spirit, she talked about teachers and first responders and the military, all very admirable professions, but all government.”

He continued: “When she talked about ways to build the middle class, it was all about the auto bailout and student loans and health care reform, once again, all government programs…That was a subtle subtext to the entire speech.”

Now the question is: “faux outrage” or legitimate concern?

Isn’t it funny how the governmental higher-ups live like Kings and Queens, but we have to do our “patriotic duty” and make sure we keep sending them our so they can party. I think that didn’t work so well in the past and now, we aren’t even allowed to eat cake!

  I thought they were supposed to keep these thoughts to themselves. ‘We belong to government.” Sounds about right. The economy is like the Titantic and been leaking for some time, with bubble gum being used to hold the water out. And the Dems have been telling us everything is “fine” and recovery is right around the corner if you give us just four more years. We allknow what happened to the Titanic. I belong to no one but God and the people that parented me. The U.S. government is trying to turn normal Americans into damn near separtists because we don’t want to live in government chains.   Couple things Encinom. A)Bane has a high success rate saving companies. Ask Staples. You don’t get there by loading companies with debt. I remember you accusing conservatives of just regurgitating talking points but you seem pretty much mired in Democrat talking points. B) It’s a good thing Obama never dines with rich donors and would NEVER have campaign events which cost several thousand dollars a plate to attend!…. Oh wait. C) Hmm loading a company down with debt destroys them….. but loading a country down with 6 trillion in 4 years ain’t no thang?   This started from the beginning of the Republic. All our early presidents were aristocrats, and it was they who started building the presidential mansion now called the White House. Some even wanted Washington to be called “Highness.” Remember, America was not started as a democracy. It was started as an aristocratic republic. Maybe we should think about moving more in that way again instead of electing the kind of unqualified plebians we have been.

  While on vacation to Boston with my family, by father drove us through the Harvard Campus we stopped off at the Library. That is how I attended Harvard.
  
  Obama is claimed to be from Harvard Law School and an expert in Constitutional Law. Yet, when he speaks of the Law and all Law he sounds un-educated. He like I went to Harvard but he like I never took classes or graduated. To state that we all belong to the Government is against all Common Law, the US Constitution, the Declaration of Independence Law, and the Magna Carta.   In 1933 the Federal Government was bankrupt and wanted a loan from the Federal Reserve. The bankers wanted some collateral for the loan. Franklin Delano Roosevelt didn’t want to give title to Federal assets so he authorized the American people, all their property and all their income as collateral for the loan. This indentured the American people in 1933 and their descendants until the loan is paid back. The loan will never be paid back.

Let’s see;

The Progressives, I will no longer call them Democrats as that defames REAL Democrats like JFK, deny the wording and original intent of the 2nd Amendment;

They pervert the 1st Amendment by applying the establishment section with any mention of the word God by any government and IGNORE the second part, ‘or the free exercise thereof’;

They believe that being required to obtain a FREE ID to vote is disenfranchising only poor minorities not poor whites;

They believe that Article 1, section 8 and Article 2 does not apply to Obama but instead grants them unlimited powers to him and any Democratic Congress to lord over the American people;

They believe that the 10th Amendment does not apply;

They support taxpayer funding for partial birth abortion contrary to law and believe that it is perfectly acceptable to suck the brains from a baby in the process of being delivered;

They ignore Federal LAW concerning the capital of Israel (yes Bush did to but it’s 2 out of 3 Democratic presidents doing so since passage).

They believe that Obama is “black” by using their Jim Crow era laws…The One Drop Rule;

And NOW they ignore the 13th Amendment and declare that We The People “BELONG” to the government.

We didn’t need this video to tell us what the Progressives believe. This election will be between the people that work and the people that take. Exactly what Obama wants the election to be about and he has worked to get the takers to exceed the workers. Its been clear for a long time now. Unfortunately the takers are not educated in the history of communism/socialism. It has failed all over the world and enslaves everyone but the elites. It will usher in the NWO unless Conservative’s vote exceeds the takers.

Want to be permanantly excluded? Great, your tax rate is reduced to a total of 10% of your total monthly income, and you can never have that wonderful handout.   The only thing we ALL belong to is the human race. Beyond all of us being human beings, any further attempt to identify oneself (by race, sex, sexual orientation, party affiliation) is to differentiate your classification from comparison with others’.
  
  Within the GOP belongs Mitt Romney, who legally paid approx. $3 million in taxes on $15 million in taxable income, and TOOK millions from his adjusted gross income and GAVE it to charity, so, he is indeed a taker — he TAKES away from the government the privilege of “handling” those millions, as in the many hands (administrative, waste, graft, entitlement, enforcement) by GIVING it directly to charity.

Not a huge fan of Romney, but his Tweet was the perfect response to this goofball video. If it was made by Charlotte and not the DNC, it was still made with a targeted demographic in mind. Professionals don’t make complex advertising without researching the target demographic, and everybody knows this. This was made to speak to the average DNC attendee, who has lost the last vestiges of what it means to be an American.

  It’s the anti-colonist mindset. Apparently, Third World countries view colonialism as intrusion of Western culture, which robs these nations of their resources for economic growth. Anti-colonialists believe if the wealth of Western nations’ were “redistributed” so there were no successful countries, the world would succeed as a global unit. If every nation was impoverished to a level playing field, historical wrongs could be righted through world government.
  
  Currently, our country is the only nation still with a chance of a successful economic turnaround and help to other distressed nations. The methodology to prevent our economic success apparently includes combining a) the socialistic strategies of centralized government and individual impoverishment with b) the anti-colonialist erosion of our country’s culture and resources. America’s “poor” may believe “wealth redistribution” benefits them, but “redistribution” is for world government, not for “impoverished” Americans who by third world standards are “wealthy.”

  Lol and then when asked about what grievous lies Ryan made you just point out minor technicalities or the plant closing, which is only a lie if you are an idiot who didn’t actually listen to the speech. The plant was scheduled to close late Bush, Obama campaigned and promised to keep it open. Obama got into office and had a few months to give it support and open it up again but didn’t and it officially closed in May or June 09. You know this of course Encinom,. You just don’t have to intellectual honesty to admit it. Ultimately it is a minor point of anecdotal evidence and it brings me genuine comfort that That’s the best you guys have.

  The plant was closed by June of ’08 with only a skeleton crew left. Ryan lied about that, Ryan lied through out his speech. As Mitten’s campaign said they do not care about the truth or fact checkers, it is only the propaganda they push that matters. I listened to his speech, and there was not an honest sentence within it. But the GOP does not want honesty, the Birther movement proves that. The GOP wants hate and doesn’t matter if they are told lies or truths as long as it is hate.

You have nothing, no matter how hard you try. If the plant only had a “skeleton crew” and was pretty much closed June 08, why did Obama hold a campaign event there with the promise of saving it?

  There’s a new show coming to t.v. this fall, It’s ‘Barry ‘O’ president and swindler at large’. It has to do with taking from the majority and giving it to a few select friends, mostly unions, in order to get much of it back in the form of campaign contributions to the left. It’s sure to be a crowd pleaser, especially to his political allies.
  
  It’s sad how barry claims he wants to help, like with people having their houses forclosed on. Earmarks of mega bucks were made, which somehow ended up going to other unrelated pet causes which had nothing to do with people loosing their homes. I sure a lot of people lossing their homes were happy when he said he was going to help. They still lost their homes. That’s barry’s idea of hope and change. It’s more like a real crummy magic act. He promises help and, tada, it vanishes. As usual with libs, all that matters is the intent, if you get scewed in the process their motto is “so what!”
