Obama’s DNC Speech Moved Indoors

President Barack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. has been moved indoors due to weather concerns, Democratic officials said Wednesday.

Obama was scheduled to address the convention at the more than 60,000-capacity Bank of America outdoor football stadium, but will now speak in the Time Warner Center, which seats just around 20,000.

Obama campaign officials had insisted the speech would be held at the Bank of America stadium rain or shine, but would move it inside if lightning posed a threat to public safety, CBS News reported. Weather forecasters have predicted “isolated thunderstorms” for Charlotte on Thursday night.

“We have been monitoring weather forecasts closely and several reports predict thunderstorms in the area, therefore we have decided to move Thursday’s proceedings to Time Warner Cable Arena to ensure the safety and security of our delegates and convention guests,” DNC organizing committee CEO Steve Kerrigan said in a statement.

At the same time, the venue switch comes as the campaign has reportedly had trouble filling all the seats in the massive outdoor stadium, according to Politico.

Kerrigan said Obama will hold a national conference call with those who had been slated to come watch him.

“We will work with the campaign to ensure that those unable to attend tomorrow’s event will be invited to see the president between now and Election Day,” Kerrigan said.

I think it will be funny when it doesn’t rain at all in Charlotte on Thursday. They moved the speech because the DNC couldn’t find enough Obamabots to fill the 60,000 seat stadium, no where even close. Get out your tin foil hats and your tums, the next 2 days of this convention will make you want to puke!

What a bunch of BS. We know why they moved to a location holding only 1/3. People found out the Obama was not the Messiah and is lying to the American People who stated that his tasks were incomplete (his words folks). In other words, he has yet to successfully bankrupt America and bring our country down. Don’t take my word for it, do your own investigation.

Guess that fits in nicely with their divisive, negative rhetoric and platform. When you leave out God but include abortion , things don’t track optimistic.

Again with the weather! The Weather Channel is owned by NBC who is owned by GE who is run by Jeff Immelt who is in Obama’s front pocket. I have already won a bet when I told someone that The Weather Channel was placing Hurricane Isaac right over Tampa long before that could have possibly been accurately predicted. All in an effort to keep RNC attendance down. You might recall in a bit of irony it went to plague New Orleans which is quite a ways from Tampa. Now The Weather Channel will be used to trump up “severe” weather threats to Charlotte in a thinly veiled attemp to give the DNC cover for the inability of filling BOA stadium and ultimately “compel” them to move it into the much smaller convention center. Now I know what you’re thinking, “they can’t control the weather” and you’d be right, but they do control the weather predictions. Remember what Stalin said, “It’s not important who votes, it’s more important who counts the votes”. Game on!

Landman1, you got it right. We see the in-the-tank-for-ObaMao clips and ads on the Weather Channel. They even started having a show about union workers – on a weather channel?! – which, fortunately, only lasted a few episodes. You’re right, too, about the WC’s early and incorrect prediction of where Isaac would hit. Rotten libs need to learn the definition of this word: backfire.

As a resident of Charlotte, I totally agree with your assessment. I just got off the phone with someone and said I wouldn’t put it past the Weather Channel to change the forecast to give them cover for not filling the stadium. Our local weatherman gave his prediction this morning saying: “30%- 40% chance of thunderstorms today, and cloudy in the morning clearing in the afternoon, but maybe a chance a severe weather tomorrow evening.” Excuse me…..are we stupid?
