Allen West Blasts Dem Platform Flap in New Campaign Ad: ‘Three Times They Said No to God’

Allen West Blasts Dems in New Campaign Ad: Three Times They Said No to God

Rep. Allen West, R-Fla. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) released a new scathing campaign ad Thursday, slamming Democrats for striking all mentions of “God” from their official platform during the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte this week. The ad features footage of DNC delegates enthusiastically voting not to include “God” in the 2012 Democratic platform.

“Three times they said no to God,” the ad states.

The ad begins with former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland saying, “I am here to attest and affirm that our faith and belief in God is central to the American story and informs the values we’ve expressed in our party’s platform.”

The shot then cuts to Los Angeles Mayor and 2012 DNC chair Antonio Villaraigosa, who tells “all the delegates opposed” to the measure to say “no”.

A large portion of the delegates can be heard screaming, “No!”

“Let me do that again,” Villaraigosa says. “All those delegates opposed, say no.”

“No!” the crowd screams, even louder than the first time, waving their arms in protest.

Then, looking a little surprised, the Los Angeles mayor asks for one final vote. The delegation again hollered “No!” just as noisy as before, some rising out of their seats to add extra emphasis. Despite the divided vote, Democrats reinstated language from the 2008 platform that said: “we need a government that stands up for the hopes, values and interests of working people and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.” The party also reinstated wording that mentions Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“It’s embarrassing, it’s stupid,” Democratic strategist Paul Begala says in the video, followed by various shots of political pundits condemning the vote.

“Are those your values?” the ad asks.

      @SocialistSlayer:

      Dora Glasberg is correct this country wasn’t founded as country ruled by religion. In fact if you look at what the founders say they felt separation to be a key component in keeping this nation great.

      Also I’m not sure but I think the bible has some strict rules on condemning other people. Last I checked judging was up to God. Either you follow his word, which means you shouldn’t be telling other people they are going to hell or you’re in fact going to hell also.

      @NHWINTER

      You may want to look at the actual constitution our country was established with. It didn’t mention God. The God on our money wasn’t there until 1954. It really shouldn’t be there due to freedom of religion. Also as much as people with opposing religious views would like to say they aren’t, Atheists are Americans. Having money which pushes the idea of “God” is an issue for people who don’t believe in a God. Jefferson actually included this in his Virginia Statue for Religious Freedom: ‘That the impious presumption of legislators and rulers, civil as well as ecclesiastical, who, being themselves but fallible and uninspired men have assumed dominion over the faith of others, setting up their own opinions and modes of thinking as the only true and infallible, and as such endeavoring to impose them on others, hath established and maintained false religions over the greatest part of the world and through all time;’

      @TEUFEL HUNDEN:

      I don’t think people are offended by the word “God” being spoken in the US. I support people’s right to say it all day long. This idea that if you don’t believe in God then you can leave is silly. You would have to get rid of some of the founders of this country. I think what people want is to have the freedom to practice what ever religion or lack there of they want. Currently there are laws in place that favor one religion over others. This is in direct violation of what the founding fathers agreed upon as a principal of this country. There were talks of preventing Catholic believers from taking office in this country but that was turned down by the majority of the founders.

      @BlueBonnet:
      Using quotes from the bible to justify your belief in the bible is circular logic. I’m not saying your belief in God is wrong but supporting your belief with your belief is a lot like defining a word with the word.

      @Baikonur:

      The reference to the Lord in Article VII is simply establishing a date and time. ‘Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven’. We still use this time scale to represent our idea of time.

      I would enjoy hearing from any and all of you who disagree or agree with my statements here as long as it is civil and isn’t attacking me for my beliefs about God. I have been very careful not to mention my personal beliefs fo

      Actually, the frequent use of the word “God” in the Republican platform is kind of creepy and kind of hypocritical. First, how do we know this isn’t an insidious attempt to introduce Sharia law into the country. Sure, they SAY it’s about Christianity to get the buy in, but then it evolves into unmarried women getting stoned to death and other aspects Sharia law or even Christian law. Who gets to decide what God wants to do anyway.

      Second, even if they are talking about have good Christians and following Biblical principals in government, then why do they want to give more money to the richest among us, and pay for that by taking away from the poorest among us? Exactly what Christian doctrine are they supposed to follow? Peace? We know that’s not it. Tolerance and loving of one’s neighbors? Heck no! So what are these Christian congressman supposed to do that follows the teachings of Christ? Being compassionate toward others? Are you kidding? (unless it’s rich people of course).

      No, in the role as governors, so say they Republicans, they are supposed to practice NONE of those virtues while on the job.

      Also the phrase “In God We Trust” originates from the National Anthem, the Star Spangled Banner written 1814 about the War of 1812.

      Mentioned in the 4th Stanza.

      It was the official anthem used by the navy in 1889, and by the Democratic president Woodrow Wilson under his administration, and finally made the national anthem under Republican president Herbert Hoover in 1931.

      From the Star Spangled Banner, the National Anthem of the United States (1814):
      “O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
      Between their loved home and the war’s desolation.
      Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heav’n rescued land
      Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!

      Never before reproductive rights were discussed in the political arena. That was a private matter between a woman and her doctor, and between a woman and her partner (or partners).
      Asking for tax payers to subsidize contraceptives by government mandate is offensive. If women like Fluke cannot stop having sex and need to spend $30,000 a year to avoid pregnancy, that is their problem. Just like any other worker in the oldest profession in the history of humankind, charge per client. What Fluke and others like her do in their bedroom, or wherever, is their problem, not the taxpayer’s.

      Fornication is not a healthcare issue anymore than narcotic use is. Risky behavior can have a negative impact on your health, but that doesn’t mean it qualifies as a healthcare issue. The reason it has to be mandated is because risky behavior is too expensive for insurance companies to cover while at the same time still having competitive premium costs. Why are you surprised that your employer and your insurance company don’t want to pick up the tab for your selfish and stupid choice to engage in risky behavior?

    Open mouth, insert foot, “Then, looking a little surprised, the Los Angeles mayor asks for one final push”

    Democrats get over 90 percent of the Black vote and about 70 percent of the Hispanic vote. Both of these groups are made up predominately of Christians. They vote for the Democrats because they have their hand out to the government. Now they have been exposed to the educated white elite atheists that also make up the Democratic Party. After this convention they can’t pretend to be ignorant any more. You shouldn’t sell your soul for money.

      My guess is that a lot of blacks and latins are hypocrits. If you vote Democrat and claim you are a Christian then you are a hypocrit…but then again Democrats are the ultimate hypocrits. The biggest hypocrits may be the Catholics, they vote overwhelmingly Democrat while going to mass. Go figure. Something tells me it is not nice to fool mother nature. I read Revelations the other night completely for the 2nd time and being a rare church goer but a believer in God (it’s the only way to explain our existence, not creationism) it is unfolding as we speak. It will happen shortly and the last thing I want to do is piss of God Almighty. I pity those who cannot see especially when it is slapping everyone in the damn face right now. All I can say is from everything that I read, listen to, watch everyday the devil might have to put out a no vacancy sign.

    Jesus stood before Pilot and he gave the jews a choice Jesus or Barabbas and they choose Barabbas. that is what that vote at the DNC reminded me of. he gave them a choice God and jerusalem and they voted NO. the LA mayor could not get a two thirds majority so the result was NO.

      Well, “therealconservative,” dunno what that subject has to do with Allen West… but sure…

      Doctor, veteran and economist Ron Paul relays HIS CONSTITUENT’S requests (his job as their rep), but neither supports nor votes for any unconstitutional spending. Furthermore, he has taken many, many measures to cut the unconstitutional spending that does exist: introducing HUNDREDS of bills to do so, INCLUDING ELIMINATING THE INCOME TAX. Ron Paul’s 2012 Presidential platform (that “conservatives” rejected) included ELIMINATION of 5 major UNCONSTITUTIONAL departments.

      Hope this helps.

    It’s not even worth the effort to point out the obvious.

    The Dumocrats are going to go down hard on 6 Nov. By 7 Nov, nobody will even admit to being one, much less voting for Obama.

    I’ve seen disarray and confusion; but, this has been a demonstration of confusion and disarray on steroids!

    Thank You Allen West!!! I feel really good about November.. history explains what happens to those who reject God… not pretty. I believe, the notion of rejecting the very existence of a higher power simply because one can’t “prove” there is one …. displays the the very “epitome” of human arrogance.

    Alan West has more brains in his thumb than Obama has in his head. Alan West is a wise man and is man enough to tell the truth. I personally believe we need all of the government with mind sets like Alan West. They, as men, do not get any better for leading this country than people like Alan West.

    They denied Him thrice. Sounds familiar?

    The Demofascist Party has become the Party of Satan.

    What was also very disturbing was the fact that they passed the vote anyway! Clearly knowing there was not a two-thirds majority of Ayes vs Nays. It was more like 50-50. So, technically, they should not be putting God and Jerusalem back into the DNC Platform because they clearly voted against it. Three times!

    Congressman Allen West is absolutely correct in endorsing an ad asking “Are those your values?”

    Love to hear the humina, humina, humina, from the Anti God DEMOCRATS. The 2/3 vote by these dolts wasn’t 2/3rd. And the idiot that pushed the tally thru was tongue tied as to what to do. Good thing Vallerie J was behind him with the stiletto at his scrotum, so he had to pass the so-called 2/3 vote.

    I didnt think Romney had a chance but it seems the Democrats are so dumb they dont want to win either. Coming out against Israel and God was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I normally expect smart bad moves by the Democrats and dumb bad moves by Republicans. I think its now official they have completed the union and are now one party.

    As horrible as Romney is, I think he will now win.
