Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) blasted the Log Cabin Republicans Wednesday night, saying the gay GOP organization goes by that name because “their role model is Uncle Tom.”
Frank, who is openly gay and the first member of Congress to marry someone of the same sex, told OutQ on SiriusXM radio he’s been “appalled” to see the Log Cabins continue to stand by the Republican Party “in the face of this worse and worse record on public policy…on our issues.”
“They’re willing to be accepted with no rights, no right to marry, no right to serve in the military, no right to be protected against hate crimes…20 years now I’ve been hearing why the Log Cabins are gonna make the Republicans better and they’ve been getting worse,” Frank said. “I now understand why they call themselves the Log Cabin Republicans: Their role model is Uncle Tom.”
On Tuesday, Democrats officially adopted a platform backing gay marriage. Frank, who is scheduled to address the Democratic National Convention Thursday night, said he and husband Jim Ready have been “greeted as heroes” in Charlotte, N.C.
“People are glad to be participating in what I believe is the beginning of the end of this prejudice,” Frank said. “Jim and I have been greeted as heroes. I walk along and people ask for a picture, and I say, ‘By the way, meet my husband.’ And they’re even more excited.”
Frank said his speech would focus on Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s time as governor of Massacusetts, and “Mitt Romney” versus “Myth Romney.”
“There are two Romneys,” Frank said. “There’s Mitt Romney — who was a hum-drum governor of Massachusetts and not very successful with our economy. And then there’s Myth Romney — Myth Romney is kind of a superhero of job creation, he is a businessman — put him in charge and everything will hum.”
“I wish Myth Romney had been governor of Massachusetts,” Frank continued. “My state would have been a lot better off…instead we had Mitt Romney and I’m just going to have to contrast the reality and the myth.”

Sep. 6, 2012 at 2:19pmBarney Frank and his husband “greeted as heroes.” And he talks about “myth” Romney. Real American heroes – our brave men and women who have or are serving in this nation’s military – sacrificing everything for our country.

Sep. 6, 2012 at 2:11pmBarney really needs to read Uncle Tom’s Cabin, if he can read. Uncle Tom is a man who doesn’t allow himself to get exploited and stands up for his believes. There’s nothing negative about that.
Those Dems really are dumb.

Sep. 6, 2012 at 2:34pmYES! I knew somebody would say what I wanted to say!
In Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the play, it’s about a slave who is tortured by his master for information to the whereabouts of two other escaped slaves. Uncle Tom, a man of conviction like you said, refuses through all the whippings to give up that information. He’s a brave soul, not a ‘race-traitor’ like the term means today.
If we really understood our English canon, we’d see that it is something of a compliment to be called an Uncle Tom.

Sep. 6, 2012 at 3:41pmHey Barney! Log Cabin Republicans… think REALLY hard now… What Republican President invokes the image of a log cabin? Hint: This President was famously born in a… log cabin! (Jeopardy music here) tick-tock BUZZ! Time’s up! Sorry Barney, Uncle Tom is the wrong answer. President Abraham Lincoln would have been correct.
Why do you think that they think gay marriage is their highest priority, Frank? I can think of at least a dozen more important issues. Also, why must it be marriage? What’s wrong with civil unions?

Sep. 6, 2012 at 4:57pmLiberal homosexuals only think with that other organ. The one below the belt.
The hell with the country I want to stick my …… wherever I want to.
That is their ultimate goal. That is what they are fighting for.
Example: # 1 Entertainment, Military, Politics, Churches, Schools, Universities, Boy Scouts, Courts, Business, Medical, Publishing, etc. etc.
They become successful and use that success to influence the governing bodies of listed institutions.
What I really don’t understand is why are they supportive of Islam?
Perhaps they think that the same strategy they used for, see list above, will eventually work for them in Islam?
Do they really think they can change that culture from hanging their homosexuals to acceptance, never mind marriage?
There are many Christians, the majority, who would hide homosexuals from a mob of crazed Muslims. We would do the same with a Muslim who is a homosexual.
And we do that because we know that God loves them. He hates what they DO not who they ARE.
Liberal homosexual minds like that of Barney think first with that other organ. That determines their ideology.
God would give them a chance of freedom if they wanted it. In His time.

I did not have enough room.
I wanted to finish with this. Before I became a Christian I did not know any better myself.
Only Christ can reveal “The Truth”. What the world tells us is A LIE. Only He can heal and forgive.
This forgiveness is personal and involves reconciliation, two hostile persons becoming friendly or peaceable again. You can wrong me and I can forgive you, but there is no reconciliation until we acknowledge that we need forgiveness. To know that we need forgiveness, we first have to acknowledge that we have done something wrong.
As we acknowledge and receive it, we are reconciled. It is one-sided until one acknowledges it.
It is the same with God. Christ has already redeemed us, but we must acknowledge it, receive it.
As a gift. A gift is not really a gift until one receives and accepts it.
Only Christ living in us will change things. We cannot save ourselves.
It is simple, but as it is with all worthy things to do, it is not easy. That I can attest to.

So I guess that being an individual doesn’t entitle you to all these rights! Nor a US Citizen! No, you have to be in a certain group so that the Government can give them to you! Or not!

Sep. 6, 2012 at 1:51pmHere is one of the most protected members of the Democratic party who has escaped censure and jail more times than any man has a right to, accusing others of being an Uncle Tom? Why do gay rights people let anyone like this man speak for them on any level. Heck, I don;t even understand why anything that comes out of his mouth is considered news worthy. An you don’t even have to agree or disagree with his sexual orientation, here is a man who destroyed the lives of thousands in his mis-handling of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and then turned them into his personal superpac. Ignore him, laugh at him, but don’t take him seriously. Instead be angry at Massachusetts for inflicting him on us.

Sep. 6, 2012 at 1:38pmThis dolt should keep in mind that, when Democrat buffoons took over Congress in 2006, things weren’t that bad. When Frank and Dodd got control of banking, Freddie and Fanny, banks were told how to bundle bad mortgages with good and sell them to unsuspecting people around the world.
It was the Democrat bufoons who forced banks to make sub-prime loans to people who they knew would not be able to pay. If George Bush carries any blame, it’s because he didn’t catch these slime balls who destroyed our economy.
Look at the record – our economy went in the sewer after Democrats took over Congress. The Democrat Congress pissed away our futures – not George Bush.

I don’t even recognize the Dems. as resembling Americans. They are more like tantrum throwing children who hate America and anyone who has a different concept of America. If this isn’t good versus evil I don’t know what is. They want immorality to be accepted as normal and good. If people want to live an immoral life, so be it, but don’t ask us to accept it as good and normal. Sorry, you just don’t get it.

Sep. 6, 2012 at 1:35pmHow do you get protected from hate crimes differently than crimes at large? So for example, if say this creepy gay dude slept with the CEO of Freddie Mac and then passed legislation to steal money from posterity to give to this guy (and others) that would be a crime. Obviously, we’ve demonstrated that there is no protection of said crime. Now, if this creepy gay dude were to be yelling insults at me/others while doing this would I then have some sort of protection? What am I missing here?
