John Kerry’s DNC Zinger: ‘Ask Osama bin Laden If He’s Better Off Now Than He Was Four Years Ago’

Kerry: Ask bin Laden if He Is Better Off Now Than He Was Four Years Ago

CHARLOTTE, NC - SEPTEMBER 05: U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) (R) stands on stage during a walkthrough during day two of the Democratic National Convention at Time Warner Cable Arena on September 5, 2012 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The DNC that will run through September 7, will nominate U.S. President Barack Obama as the Democratic presidential candidate. Credit: Getty Images

Not very long ago in 2004, Senator John Kerry was the nominee for president at this own Democratic National Convention in Boston, Massachusetts — his adopted state. On Thursday evening in Charlotte, North Carolina, however, he spoke on behalf of President Barack Obama, who he claims “kept his promises” to end the war in Iraq, end the war in Afghanistan, stand with Israel and what’s more, “focus like a laser on al-Qaeda.” It was this laser-focus that, according to Kerry, made sure that Osama bin Laden is not better off now than he was four years ago.

Delivering the zinger of the evening, the Massachusetts senator stated that even ”against the advice of many to give that order to finally rid this earth of Osama bin Laden,” Obama’s diligence prevailed.

“Ask Osama bin Laden if he is better off now than he was four years ago,” Kerry exclaimed to a resounding round of applause.

The ever-outspoken Kerry delved into an array of topics including the kind of American exceptionalism that broke out of the Great Depression, won two world wars, saved lives fighting AIDS, pulled people out of poverty, went to the moon and “produce exceptional people who even give their lives for civil rights and human rights.” It is this exceptional country, according to the Massachusetts senator, that Republicans oppose.

“An exceptional nation demands the leadership of an exceptional president,” Kerry exclaimed before explaining the “disarray and disaster he inherited.”

“It took President Obama to make America lead like America again.”

Kerry spoke about restoring “moral authority” as manifest in banning “torture” and said Obama —and even went so far as to invoke Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who he claims stated that the U.S. and Israel  have “exactly the same policy” and that the two nations’ security cooperation “is unprecedented.”

“When it comes to Israel, I’ll take the word of Israel’s prime minister over Mitt Romney any day,” Kerry said. Odd, considering the growing tension that has expanded – seemingly by the day — between the two world leaders based squarely upon the perception that President Obama does not, in fact have Israel’s “back.”

Nonetheless, Kerry pressed on, lauding Obama’s promise to work with Russia “to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons,” lock down nuclear materials around the world and liberate the people of Libya from Moammar Gadhafi’s iron fist.

ABC provides a video clip of the speech:

The former Democratic presidential candidate then asserted that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are the “most inexperienced foreign policy twosome to run for president and vice president in decades.”

Poking fun at what he painted as Romney’s flip-flops on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Kerry offered the following advice: “Before you [Romney] debate Barack Obama on foreign policy, you better finish the debate with yourself!

Kerry then continued to focus on discrediting the president’s rival — typically not the role the nominee would assume him or herself — saying that “Republican secretaries of state from Kissinger to Baker, Powell to Rice, President Bush, and 71 United States senators all supported President Obama’s New Start treaty.”

“But not Mitt Romney. He’s even blurted out the preposterous notion that Russia is our “number one geopolitical foe.” Folks: Sarah Palin said she could see Russia fromAlaska; Mitt Romney talks like he’s only seen Russia by watching Rocky IV.”

The controversial Vietnam veteran reverted to talking about wars and our troops abroad, lauding Obama’s role as a commander-in-chief. Kerry said the president “gives our troops the tools and training they need in war, the honor and help they’ve earned when they come home; a man who will never ask other men and women to fight a war without a plan to win the peace.”

“Some of us from a prior war remember coming home was not always easy. President Obama has made it his mission that we welcome our troops home with care, and concern, and the respect they deserve. That is how an exceptional nation says ‘thank you’ to its most exceptional men and women.”

He concluded by calling Obama an “exceptional American as president.”

Didn’t John Kerry serve in Vietnam? Didn’t he receive some self awarded medals for valor and or shooting himself in the rear? John want’s us all to know that he single handedly dispatched Ben Ladin when he entered Osama’s compound in his swiftboat, outfitted like Rambo with 50 cal machineguns blazing. Apparently he was the secret ‘seal team 6′ member, no one knew about. We know he was there because there are pictures of the site which show some old discarded Vietnam war medals, empty Heinz catchep bottles and a personally autographed book on ‘how to consort with the enemy even if not captured’, plus the photo-shopped picture of J Kerry dressed in his Rambo outfit. next to his horse Nugget, holding Osama’s head, while Osama’s is delivering a speech from several year earlier. If it weren’t for John, Barry ‘O’ would be getting all the glory. This whole convention nonsense remindes me of the The Expendables, where every action acter gets in on the act, as compared to the convention where every ex president, presidental wannabes and hick democrat wants a piece of the action. The expendables is far more believable and much more entertaining.

Obama had it all planed out to blame the Military if something went wrong. At least Carter took some responsibility when the Iranian Hostage Crisis went wrong. If this President would stop pointing fingers when things go wrong, or not his way, I would give him some credit. But until he steps up and takes some personal responsibility and show some real leadership. I will not give President Obama an inch.

You are so anti-American that you refuse to allow yourself to think positively in any way, shape, or form about the man that was OVERWHELMINGLY elected (and will be again) by your fellow citizens under the system set up by our founding fathers. Even the death of our nation’s greatest enemy, a man responsible for thousands of dead Americans of all different backgrounds and political views, doesn’t give you reason enough to tip your hat.

If there was anyone who didn’t deserve to be in public office, it’s JOHN KERRY. He doesn’t have (any) courage of his convictions. He’s the kind of guy who would turn on his best friend if he thought that’s what the “popular crowd” required. I do hope that he never gets to Represent our Precious USA over seas. He’s just a pathetic human being… I mean, stashing his Yacht in Ct. so he didn’t have to pay MA. Taxes just about says it all. He’s like the little kid that would sneak out and slug some other kid and then run back to hide behind his momma. The Really Impressive DEMS are now INDIES or CONSERVATIVES. Joe Trippi also showed he has no character tonight…and Kristen Powers jumped back across the fence from being reasonable to party liner. Interesting what a few hours on the public stage shows us.

PS: I love the STRAW MAN comments that Bret and CK said after these speeches. “I’m for FREEDOM” (crowd jumps up and cheers – well, aren’t we all??? is this speaker trying to say the other guys aren’t?” I get the idea that if they thought coming out doing cart-wheels would get them votes, we’d have seen Biden/Obama doing cart-wheels all over the stage. :) Keep the Peace PATRIOTS!!

“Ask Osama bin Laden if he’s better off now than he was four years ago.”

Usama personally hates being dead. But considering his age, how famous (not infamous; people name their sons after him) he is in the Muslim world & the fact that Al Qaeda is spreading like they have since Billy Bubba Clinton’s time in the 1990s, he would be very happy.

Al Qaeda is in Mali, Somalia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Algeria, Pakistan, & Afghanistan
Jihadis have been flowing from Afghanistan to Yugoslavia to Chechnya to Georgia to Somalia to Sudan since the 1990s. And no liberal has done anything effective to stop it.

I don’t know what liberal college professors think should be done, but frankly those guys don’t have a clue.

If the Taliban attacks are slightly off as the Obama beholden Pentagon claims, it would be because, some of the Al Qaeda fighters have diverted to Mali.

JZS – like everything else, liberals like yourself only care about certain things if it has value politically. Most liberals thought America deserved what bin Laden did, and were willing to give him a get-out-of-jail-free card. It’s only when Obama realized it might help him politically did he give the go-ahead after Valerie Jarrett gave him permission. You see…Barack doesn’t do anything without the ladies surrounding him for permission.

Sorry DEMOCRATS.ARE.EVIL. it was a campaign promise he made in 2008 before he was elected, when Bush had explicitly said he didn’t worry about bin Laden anymore.

But as far as you just makin’ stuff up? Not bad. I’ve heard less probable lies than that.

DEMOCRATSAREWONDERFUL . . . “Most liberals thought America deserved what bin Laden did, and were willing to give him a get-out-of-jail-free card.”

Actually, most conservatives agreed it was worth it to let the twin towers be attacked because it gave us reason to invade Iraq. And letting bin Laden go was part of the bargain.

kalli, sad that you and the Republicans are so weak on terrorism and wish to coddle them and beg the Pakistanis to love us on bended knee.

Oh, and Osama bin Laden actually did “do the same to us.” I suppose you’d let any criminal hide there as a refuge.
      —————————————————————————————-
Then I suppose the mighty Democrats will go in and clean out these terrorist in any country of the world. Good luck on that. I guess you have just become a Republican war monger. Notice that death of American troops continue but since there is a Democrat in the White House no mention of any anti war has appeared. I guess the best bet is to have a Democrat go to war so no one will complain.

Isn’t making this comment an admission no one is better off including OBL? Is getting OBL supposed to make up for the rest of the fiasco? I guess it’s clever, but it says more about the rest of the administration than it does about the single positive action BO has accomplished….and by positive I mean the only thing the majority of the country agrees on as being good.

Come on guys, this is a pep rally for the Democrats and Kerry
was deliverIng the goods. Take it at face value and he was brilliant.
He nailed all his marks and he cracked jokes which I thought was impossible
for him. Kerry and the Governor of Montana will get major
    accolades in the morning.

OH yea let us NOT forget: cutting the federal debt by 50% in his 1st term, closing Guantanamo, cutting taxes for the middle class.

fed debt UP by over 50%, Guantanamo still open, taxes up (gasoline, cigarettes, tanning booths, regulatory fees)— and let us NOT forget the obamacare tax.

Don’t forget the giddy sycophants in the mainstream media all eerily spouting what a great day for freedom the Arab Spring was. More like a great day for islamic despotism. What fools these people looked like to everyone who knew what was really happening. It wasn’t just MSNBC either, it was euphoria on ALL the major networks. I rolled my eyes so much I’m still recovering from the headache.

I served my country also for 13-years and received commendation medals and an honorable discharge as I moved on to electrical engineering and honorable living. I love Jesus and want Him to return soon and I am here to tell you that any decent American would have shot or stuck a knife in Usama Bin Laden given the first opportunity. John Kerry is not worthy of his position. I don’t buy his freaking ketchup much less his speech. Never will.
