‘F**k Cardinal Dolan!’: Liberals Send Explicit Tweets About Catholic Leader Following Pro-Life Prayer at the DNC

Cardinal Timothy Dolan surprised people on both sides of the aisle last week when he announced that he would be offering the benediction at the Democratic National Convention — an odd occurrence, considering the Catholic Church’s ongoing debate with the Obama administration over the controversial contraceptive mandate.

Still, the faith leader extended the ultimate olive branch and, in an effort to appear unbiased, he delivered closing remarks at both political conventions. But — following his remarks, some liberals launched into Twitter tirades, sending expletives Dolan’s way. The reason? He prayed for the protection of the unborn during the DNC, an apparent cardinal sin in the eyes of some Democrats who decry pro-life sentiment.

As TheBlaze’s Jason Howerton reported yesterday, Dolan encouraged everyone in attendance to protect the lives of the unborn. “Grant us the courage to defend life…waiting to be born, welcomed and protected,” he said. He also prayed for “life, without which no other rights are secured.”

Some of the other words that may have riled pro-choice liberals were as follows: “God grants us the right to life so we can choose liberty and happiness…We praise You for the gift of life, grant us the courage to defend it.”

Following his prayer, detractors went on an anti-Dolan extravaganza — or, as LifeSiteNews puts it, they “tweeted F-bombs” to the Catholic leader. According to the news site, hundreds of angry liberals took to Twitter to deride Dolan. The outlet collected and posted this sampling of tweets (warning: graphic language):

The liberal mind is a wasteland of ugliness. How dare a man of God pray for the protection of the unborn, I can see where this would anger them.

I admire Cardinal Dolan for entering that God hating, child murderer filled snake pit. I wonder if he could smell the evil in the air.

  I think he went there to deliver the message he did, and it took guts to do so. They reacted to him as Godless liberals, the ones who didn’t want God mentioned. I hate to say it, but the uncivil, moraless, Godless ones are stealing the democratic party. Is anyone truely suprised? Those in that party who still believe are shouted down and booed. When we say there is a stark choice, there really is, whoever thought this would happen?

  I’m told Planned Parenthood, in conjunction with Code Pink and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, protested Cardinal Dolan’s appearance at the convention by raffling off twelve late term abortions (one for each Apostle). The abortions were performed in a mobile abortion trailer in the parking lot of Time Warner Cable Arena, shortly after Obama’s acceptance speech. The protest attracted a large audience, and refreshments were served.

The truth is, most of them are really cowards hiding behind online personalities, especially in blogs where they spew their vile and hatred, never expecting to see the person they are talking to…I had a surprise for a couple of them.
  
  Some idiots actually will use the same ID on Facebook, if you do not hide part of your profile, it is very easy to find where they are…The look on their faces when confronted, is first reaction is shock, then comes “How did you find me?” then the excuses begin. One actually invited me inside the home, very nice, clean, loving children. Then I reach into my jacket pocket and pull out a printed copy of what was said and give it to the wife, that was the best part, was her reaction.

  Most of these tweets are easy to analyze.They’re coming from a small group of active homosexuals who made the mistake of making very similar hate-filled remarks.
  
  While ordinary liberals don’t like religious views…especially on abortion….they don’t go to such extremes as these tweets constantly using the “f” word for condemnation.
  
  Only homosexual activists do that. And they use aliases posting many times to create the impression there are a lot of people who vociferously condemn Christians, when it is really only homosexuals who hold such rabidly hateful feelings, because they view Christianity as the greatest obstacle to their being accepted into the mainstream, too dumb to realize everybody is disgusted with them , not just Christians.
  
  In fact, if Muslims had their way they would hang them or stone them to death.
  
  When you learn of hate-filled diatribes against Christians/Christianity, think homosexual activist. You won’t be infallible, but you will be right the vast majority of times.

  We have never been a godless nation. The US has prided it’s self to have a diverse group of religions and being able to attend the church of your choice and allowed to practice the religion of your own god. We respected one another. Since Mr. Obama has been in office the country is imploding. He is the only president that has not been spiritual in my memory. In 4 years that he’s been in office he’s been to church 3-4 times and turned it into a photo-op. I understand that he doesn’t have my beliefs but a leader leads by example. For the atheists, agnostics etc I respect your beliefs but I do resent them trying to stop my beliefs and trying to change my (our) way of life. I was appalled to hear these tweets and the disrespect to a man of God. The foul language was disgusting and the worse part was, some of it was coming from women. Women that probably have children. What kind of example is this for their kids? Children are what they learn. The US is in decline and I can only hope that when things do change that it will be for the better.

  Although there are SERIOUS issues with the theology of the RC Church, re Maryology, Purgatory etc, I do have to give Kudos to Cardinal Dolan, for his COURAGE, in praying for the unborn!
  He delivered the same prayer at the GOP convention, and there was no controvery, or HATRED, directed at him fo doing so, from the GOP attendees,at least. SAD, that the responses were so full of vitriol[and limited intelligence re the common epithets] Those that do so, will be judged, HARSHLY, but fairly, by our LORD, and Saviour. Better they had millstones around their necks, and sunk in the depths of the ocean[Paraphrasing the LORD] BABY MURDERERS, have a special place reserved for them, and for those who advocate this MURDER of INNOCENTS!   The government can’t pass a law prohibiting the free exercise of religion. In other words, the government can’t do anything about religious activities, especially prohibiting the freedom to exercise it. Thomas Jefferson was the originator of the notion of some sort of separation between chuch and state. But, that form of language does not exist anywhere in the Constitution (or anywhere else). As usual, you have it ass-backwards again you fool.
  
  Here, go educate yourself:

  “Separation of church and state” is a common metaphor that is well recognized. This was not intended to be a personal attack on you, but only to open peoples eyes. Jesus Christ is Jesus Christ. We don’t need a self-proclaimed representative of him here on earth.   Beck’s group loses credibility when they present these articles, as serious news, attempting to denigrate their opponents by these displays that are very common to all groups and ideologies. Does anyone really believe that conservatives are not as quick to use profanity against their opponents? Associating common behaviours to one group is intellectual dishonesty.

  Quite true, every group has members who will use profanity. The profanity is not what concerns me, though. What concerns me is the act of denying God three times. The Democrats may still have a simple majority of believers, but their numbers are falling, and they will soon be drummed out of the party.
  
  The Cardinal did not say anything about limiting womens rights, but only prayed for the unborn. At this, they were enraged. Enraged over protecting babies…just let that sink in for a moment.

I spent 4 days at Restoring Love in Texas and I’d pretty much bet that most if not all were conservatives, and I never heard one obscenity thrown out the entire four days. There were thousands of people there and it was the nicest, friendliest, happiest group I’ve had the privilege of spending time with.

  This is not relevant to the current scenario. Your situation was of like-minded individuals together at an event that they support. The article is discussing the responses of individuals who DISAGREE with Cardinal’s message AND voicing it on social media. The outlet is a crucial aspect, as it allows individuals to act less inhibited then they would normally in physical interactions.   I’m sure the Cardinal knew he would get flak for his closing prayer, and yet he had the courage to do what was right in front of the people who most needed to hear what he had to say.   I tend to agree with you..While technology has brought us the World Wide Web, and instant contact with strangers we will probably never meet, it has alienated us from our families and from our lives, by taking up so much of our time. People texting constantly and paying no attention to what they are doing or reading or the conversation of real people going on in the room. I have forbidden my grandkids to turn a phone on during Family dinners for the last 2 years. I’ve had dinners ruined by ex-inlaws who saw fit to message or call with some garbage just as dinner began and ruin dinner for everyone…so phones and technology goes off during meal time.

  the Church doesnt support either party. The Bishops dont have that type of authority. Though there have been rather liberal Bishops especially during the last 40 years the change in the way Bishops are now selected has focused more on teaching the orthodox faith and not proping up the dems which was really underway even before Kennedy, mostly because the Republicans werent exactly friendly to Catholics, not to say the Dems in the Klan were exactly thrilled to have us. But anyway the Church doesnt choose sides it teaches the faith and morals that Catholics should adhere to when making an informed decision and to be honest from a Catholic perspective its still holding my nose to vote for Romney because at least he will let a Child live long enough to make a decision for themselves

  Dolan knew what he was walking in to and he certainly got his message across. obama will probably have all Christian churches paying tithes to himself or shuttered if he is re-elected, and all Americans will have to BOW to him or his image TOO.
  
  Chicago’s catholic diocese has been a nest of communism since the 1980s-1990s. cardinal bernadin fawned on communist party up-n-coming obama, and helped place him in office. NO doubts on that, we watched it happen and left that church.. we knew COMMUNISM when we heard it. obama was running as “the candidate from Kenya”, too, we remember THAT very well.

  There were many Jews who voted for Hitler. 1930s Germany had a 60 Million population and 25 percent were Jews. When Hitler ran for the office of German Chancellor, 95 percent of Germany voted for Hitler.   @WANT OUT COUNTRY BACK…You are absolutely correct. I used to consider myself a Democrat (although I never officially joined the party, thank God). The Democrats I know are truly, truly blind and don’t even want to consider any other opinion than that of the Democratic Party (or should I say Communist Party USA). It is truly sad that so many are so narrow minded. They are in for a rude awaking if the Obamanation is reelected.
