Flashback: Obama Scoffed at Bush Jobs Report Showing Gain of 300K

Thanks to some deep digging by BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski, here are two clips of a younger Barack Obama explaining why a jobs report issued under then-President George W. Bush showing a gain of 300,000 is somehow indicative of poor economic policies.

Here’s a 2004 radio address:

And here’s a television interview where he repeats the same thing:

You know why this is funny, right?

U.S. employers added only 96,000 jobs last month (9,000 of which were striking utilities workers returning to work), the unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent from 8.3 percent in July, and 368,000 Americans exited the work force, TheBlaze reported earlier this morning.

By any measure, it’s a pretty dismal report, right? Well, not if you’re currently employed by the White House [emphasis added]:

While there is more work that remains to be done, today’s employment report provides further evidence that the U.S. economy is continuing to recover from the worst downturn since the Great Depression. It is critical that we continue the policies that are building an economy that works for the middle class as we dig our way out of the deep hole that was caused by the severe recession that began in December 2007.

Okay, perhaps we need to sit down and have a discussion on the meaning of the words “recover” and “build” because we seem to be losing something in translation. What next? Is the White House going to tell us to not read too much into

As the Administration stresses every month, the monthly employment and unemployment figures can be volatile, and employment estimates can be subject to substantial revision. Therefore, it is important not to read too much into any one monthly report and it is informative to consider each report in the context of other data that are becoming available.

Okay, at what point after 42 straight months of unemployment above eight percent should we start “reading into” these reports? Here, let’s try to visualize what’s going on. First, here’s a 14-year trend for the employment-population ratio [via Hot Air]:

Archive Audio & Footage of Barack Obama Dismissing Bush Era Jobs Report Showing Gain of 300K JobsAnd here’s the civilian participation rate:

Archive Audio & Footage of Barack Obama Dismissing Bush Era Jobs Report Showing Gain of 300K Jobs“These two charts measure the workforce as a percentage of the population — which accounts for population growth as well as job creation,” Ed Morrissey writes. “Both are not only dropping, the civilian participation rate dropped faster and farther during the recovery than it did during the recession.”

And just for fun, here’s a graph showing the difference between the jobs report senatorial candidate Obama scoffed at and the report that just came out this morning:

Archive Audio & Footage of Barack Obama Dismissing Bush Era Jobs Report Showing Gain of 300K JobsBut don’t worry, folks. We’re digging ourselves out of a hole and, unlike young Barack Obama, today’s report is not indicative of poor economic policies (or something).

I am sincerely sorry for your situation and to hear this. Please dont give up hope.
I do believe that enough people are waking up that Barry will be removed in 60 days.

I also believe once Romney/Ryan get to work the economy will come roaring back
fairly quickly. That may not be much consolation at this moment, but hand in there
because I dont think it’ll be much longer.

My friend I to have lost my business, home and all wealth had to file bankruptcy . Had to relocate far from family, but restarted with the will to work and honesty in our hearts . Restarted all over thing started to get better then Obama took over, wife lost her job and was unemployed for two years now works part –time, For me two pay cuts and lost all benefits. Now we need to hold on to each other more than ever, and may I suggest you do the same.

But I would never give up the journey as long as we are free, I am willing to live under a bridge as long as my new grandson has a chance to live in a free republic. For with freedom comes hope , and we all of the chance for things to turn around.

Listen to Lee Greenwoods song and have a good cry it always helped me, and hopefully after Nov 6 some of our tears will begin to be a faded memory. For I pray that we the people will cling to our Guns and Religion and vote the great destroyer out.

And then pray hard for Romney for he too is only a man , and we must have more faith in ourselves and our God then in just one man.

      Dear CHARLSTONJOHN
I’ve been there. It’s ugly and hard, but I believe in you. If a guy in his fifties with a chronically ill wife and family of six can do it; so can you. I’m asking Ha-Shem to hold you [and yours] in his hand now. Filling the dumpster with all the stuff that the neighbors couldn’t use was really hard, but having the DAV guy tell me there wasn’t anything they could do for us ; but would we like to donate our belongings or vehicle to them was stinky too. Remember ; I and mine are praying for you and we believe in you. Listen to Peter Gabriel’s “Don’t Give UP’ and don’t blame yourself. Post your situation once in a while. I want to know. I’ll bet others here have been down this road too and want to hear from you.

      CharlestownJohn,

I work with people in your situation everyday. It is tough out there, no doubt about it. One piece of advice I try to give every job seeker out there is that, you have to remain strong in your faith, in your love for your family, and in your resolve to getting things back on track. It’s hard to believe that there will be better days, but there will be. There are opportunities out there for individuals in your line of work. If you need some career advice please let me know.

Try to keep your faith and know that you can start over and hopefully when Romney becomes the president jobs and the economy will take off!! I am a State Certified Residential Contractor without a decent pay check in the last 4 years, as so many of us are. Everyone is just taking whatever jobs they can find and trying to survive. I am also working on trying to get contractors and subcontractors into the GSA -why not privitize the GSA and let us take their jobs?? At least we wouldn’t waste taxpayer’s money and we would do alot better job!!! Best wishes to you!!

I’m sorry to hear of misfortunes brother. I am 34 years old too, and I know what you are going through. I lost my job six months after Obama took office, and I was out of work for almost a year and a half. I lost everything during that time and I am still trying to recover mentally and financially . It is an extremely tough battle, but keep your head and stay strong, and you will make through. Even though I am still struggling to get by today, I do see the light at the end of the tunnel, and you will too,
I am from Minnesota and our state seemed to recover faster than others for some unkown reason. And of course the Dakotas are booming if you are looking for legitamate options. Hang in tthere brother, I have faith, we, the American people will do what is right in November and send this commie packing. If we fail in November, well then, the entire population of this country is screwed anyway, and the only thing that is going to fix that is a true revolution. And that, unfortunately for them, is what they’re going to get. Hang in there brother, I will be praying for you and the rest of the people in this country that are ienduring similar set-backs as you.
While I’m here, I’m going vent. I still cannot believe these f^cking b@st@rds continue to get away with laughing in our face and rubbing our noses in **** on a daily basis. Everyone in the mainstream media will have to answer to God for their treasonous crimes, but I will focus on letting Bubba get them

I’m a lot older than you but I have a similar story. Obama likes to repeat the unemployment statistics of Bush’s last few months in office, and yet, most of those job losses occurred the instant Obama was elected. Corporations knew to plan ahead for a rocky 4 years. I was one of those laid off in early 2009 and it was difficult back then to even find temp or part-time work, since so many businesses put a freeze on hiring. It took me 6 months to find a temp job. I’m still a temp employee with no benefits, but I have faith things will get better.

Having survived the Carter administration, I feel confident we’ll get back to a prosperous nation again. But first, we must get Obama out of office!

In previous speeches Fox News, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh have caught Obama’s team recycling Barry’s own speeches from the past.
And after a careful dig in old recordings, Limbaugh’s team was able to prove that for his acceptance speech yesterday Obama recycled Jimmy Carter’s candidacy acceptance, when he lost the Presidency to Ronald Reagan.

      ____________________________________________________________________________________

You Ron Paul folks shouldnt be having this unnecessary argument. Lets look at things reasonably
and respectfully and do away with the scorched earth policy and name-calling because in this instance that posture is FATAL.

Ive said this before, I admire and have great respect for Ron Paul. He is principled, committed and
consistent. He’s also sharp as a tack in economics, monetary policy, the Fed, etc. BUT HE ISNT RUNNING. Any votes that get cast for him now are essentially votes for MARXIST BARRY and will
condemn us all to 4 more years of misery as well as likely the end of this country as we know and
      love it.

You also DONT really know the kind of president Romney will become. He successfully governed
arguably THE MOST liberal state in the nation [decisions made there need to reflect this context],
successfully salvaged the Olympics, and was wildly successful in the private sector as a businessman
      and private equity venture capitalist

Ronald Reagan was criticized before being elected as a conservative extremist and nothing more

I would agree with Obama is the worst President is history, the GOP SHOVED Romney down our throats, I have said that since the first time I heard he was a candidate that is who they would throw at us.

Ron Paul, well he has some good things to say about restoring our rights and Constitution, BUT I hate to disappoint his supporters, but Presidential material he is NOT.

Fighting among each other over parties is insane, BOTH parties are corrupt, both parties are in this together, politicians only care about gaining POWER, MONEY and LIFETIME PERKS.

Until you find a WORKING MAN that is NOT filthy rich, who worked daily for a living, is NOT an Attorney or Community Organizer, our rights and Freedoms are doomed.

Until our country is returned to it’s faith in Morales, Values and smaller Government, this country is doomed. For most of the country that means restoring faith in God, for others it is simply a belief in a higher power.

I will vote for Romney simply to get the current POS out of office, if Romney screws up in any way shape or form well we can impeach without being racist regardless of what race you are.

Furthermore he has already been vetted more than the current POS, I say he should agree to hand over his Tax returns in exchange for Obamas school records, transcripts and loan applications.

Even Charles Payne voted oblama. Americans are not so stupid as uninformed, and given the treasonous lsm, it is understandable. However, Americans are awake now, it is becoming obvious to the casual political observer that oblama didn’t deliver on his promise. GHW Bush’s failure (read my lips…) was not nearly as critical nor disastrous as oblama’s. Look for a similar end.

MONICNE/ENCINOM/SLEAZY HIPPO/ad nauseum…let’s see…the economy lost 368,000 workers last month and Obama complains about Bush ADDING 300K jobs? Is Barry ok?

Do you lefties live in some bizarro world where less jobs available to Americans is a desirable thing? I mean let’s be honest here…Obama also added around one million illegals into the competition for the reduced number of jobs under his administation. Do American facing the hardship of looking for work in a reduced workforce really deserve to have a million illegals added to that competition?

And it doesn’t get better than using Obama’s own words against him now does it champ?

    Like this for instance:
“Today I am pledging to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office.”- Barack Obama February 23, 2009.

Tell me again why obama deserves reelection in light of these facts?

It doesn’t matter to them. Nothing does. There are components of each party that are impervious to logic. There is no rational argument to re-elect Owebama. However, there is nothing you could say or even he could say that would ever get them to not vote for him.

Conversely, there are Republicans that will support Romney/Ryan no matter what they say or do. Their budget takes a generation to balance and it adds 18 Tr. to the debt in that time. They have horrible civil liberties positions and freaking gave the blueprint for Obamacare. YET, 1/2 of the Republicans would crawl a mile on broken glass to hear him fart through a walkie talkie.

People have plum lost their minds.

Insane people, like Barry and his acolytes, believe they are sane. NEVER get into a discussion with insane people. It will eventually cause migraines, trying to be LOGICAL with them, and possibly end up with you becoming one of them! Better they live in their own world, and hopefully, soon, disappear into the asylums they belong in.

Well you are losing access to the Bosses’ computer so we’ll see you after a restful weekend, little AparasitiK.

We don’t mind if you are not credible, if you don’t. C’est la vie. (that’s Canada-speak)

It’s getting to be the weekend again, and some of us are getting cranky because soon we will not be able to post until Monday (or Tuesday if there is another Bank Holiday). Some of us begin to get testy and we break things. It all works out in the end.

      Okey-Dokey. So Long. Bye Bye.

      Tee Off.

What!? Jennifer Granholm announced 30 million jobs have been gained. She’s still screaming it from the Convention podium. Isn’t anyone listening?

Remember: to communists such as Obama, non government created jobs are LOSSES and thus do not count. Obama is insanity defined.
