Fox News contributor and syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer had some harsh words for President Obama’s DNC finale speech Thursday, calling it “one of the emptiest speeches” ever given by a presidential nominee.
“I was stunned,” he said. “This is a man who gave one of the great speeches of our time in 2004. And he gave one of the emptiest speeches I have ever heard on a national stage.”
Krauthammer admitted that Obama delivered the speech well, as he always does, but said there was no substance in the address given to thousands at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C. at the Democratic convention.
“Yes, it had cadence. And yes there were deceptions in it. That’s not what’s striking about it,” he said. “There was nothing in it.”
He continued: “This is a man who believes that government can and should do a lot. There’s nothing in here that tells us how he is going to go from today to tomorrow. And what government is going to do, what’s he going to enact? At least Romney had a five-point plan.”
Krauthammer reiterated his view that Obama merely presented a personal “vision” of the America he would like to see in the next four years without providing a plan of how to get there.
“I have a vision of America where there is no disease and everyone has a private airplane, but unless I tell you how to get there, I’ve said nothing,” he added. “I am simply amazed — this is a guy who is the A student in the class who turns in a paper that is clearly a C.”
Additionally, Vice President Joe Biden’s speech at the DNC was “infinitely better” than the president’s, Krauthammer said, adding, “The Obama speech I thought was flat and had no content in it. Otherwise I loved it really.”

You can lead a horse to water…
You can give “sense” – common and uncommon – to others & see them not use it
You can tell a child “don’t touch the fire, you’ll get burned”
Decisions have consequences – including the decision to do nothing. Given who is voting, and under what assumptions – this Forbes blurb is a bit disturbing.
The …market process of increased investment, increased demand for labor, increased productivity, and increased wages and incomes is the way that it has worked to increase the wages and incomes of American workers for 300 years. And it is the only way that works. Rising wages, incomes, prosperity, and living standards do not result from increased government spending, increased deficits and government debt, increased Fed money creation, greater income and wealth redistribution, or any other fever swamp of Obamanomics. ….

I do not think at this point they are going to be able to whitewash his failure, not from what I read. It would seem last night teed off more people and they are just done. I am sure Huffpo, and others are gushing praise, but everone who I have talked to from the salesman in Best Buy, to the electricain who worked on my house are just sick to death of him and his spending, transparency, and his NO plan. This is a very democratic area, and the rumbling is growing. Here’s the best part, I have spent the last two years educating my grandkids that will vote this time, and I have helped them to realise no matter what he says, that they are conservatives, and they won’t be fooled.

Sep. 7, 2012 at 9:40amI’ve noticed that too. On a few of the news sites like Yahoo that are not necessarily so politically polarized like MSNBC, when you read the comments under most of the political articles they are almost always overwhelmingly pro-Republican and anti-Democrat. I am encouraged to think that this means many more Americans are seeing what’s really going on with Obama and the Democratic party and will vote them out in November.

Telling them to become lawyers and teachers and getting into anything government. Telling them to break down this country’s morals, as this was and is the strength of the USA.
While the rest of us slept making money and raising kids, now we have partially awakened with the 09 Tea party. Now we need to stay awake. It’s hard when you work 8 to 12 hours a day to spend your free time having to think and work toward guarding yourself from your government.

Sep. 7, 2012 at 11:25amOf course it was empty. He couldn’t run on his record in 2008, and, very regrettably, he can’t run on his record in 2012. He’s an empty suit. Even a Hollywood actor and director sees that – only he used an empty chair as his visual. Obama’s socialistic desires for the U.S. is like a dog that won’t hunt. It isn’t going to happen, even though our colleges have been at it for over 40 years, indoctrinating our youth of the “excellence” of socialism. Obama will not be relected. He will lose big time. I watched Slick Willie the other night, but just could not take much of Plugs or 0bama. Actually almost all of the coverage last night. I guess the same thing could be said of parts of the RNC, but it just boiled down to listening to one cheerleader after another. I watched FX’s “Anger Management” marathon instead while checking in on BSNBC and Fox during the commercials. I was rather disappointed with BSNBC. Instead of their usual entertaining wild spin they were rather reverent until after Plugs and “0″ finished. Then they went into full spin mode.

Sep. 7, 2012 at 1:11amThe problem is that this current president has no substance. He is a shill, empty, devoid of substance and content or he can’t say what his real vision of the future is right now. So he reverts to empty words using cadence and mellow tones…to lull his listeners into a hypnotic-like state where his soothing tones are all that matter, and the words are a blur of sound. Would Dr. Franz Mesmer have been proud of the Obama ability to ply his craft?

He is often the right wing guest on say PBS round-table political discussion shows and he has some considerable gravitas. He even admitted Obama gave one of the all time great speeches in “2004″ (I’m kind of assuming that’s a typo). Even if Charles K. did have a predisposed opinion on Barry’s speech, its because it was easy to predict what he would say, and what he’d avoid like the plague.
“Forward!” (off a cliff)
“Shared prosperity for all!” (redistribution of wealth)
“Together we can!” (collectivism)
“Lower the deficit!” (yeah right, like he’s not said it 3.5 years ago, then did nothing)
“Fair, and equal chance!” (we the government will make sure of it, for your own good of course)
“We (he really means “I”) created JOBS!” (3 million created. 3.5 million lost. you do the math)
“Anyone who needs a helping hand!” (46.7 million on food stamps. Unemployment benefits last for 2 years. All paid for by Americans that actually PRODUCE, i.e. our taxes)
“Green jobs!” (yeah, like Solyndra, and the Chevy Volt is selling like,…..cr@p)
“Get Americans working!” (unemployment over 8% for the longest time in U.S. history. But hey, government sector jobs are on the rise)

he didn’t say troops in his speach, but he did say MILITARY. last time i checked the both mean the same thing.he gave two speaches to vets a week before and a day before he gave his acceptance speach. owebummer didn’t. now who’s the anti- American that hates our military. here’s a surprise not every single speach is going to be soley about our brave men and women. there are other things just as important going on.
you’re such a big hypocrit. he he gave his speaches and only focused on military and war you’d be screaming that he’s a war monger, and doesn’t care for our military. but when he focuses on other important topics you scream he’s anti military.
it is laughable that you think you intimidate me. I WILL NOT STAND DOWN!!!!! you stuck your nose in because i berated another poster for picking on Krauthammer’s medical condition. you posted on everything but what my original post was about, and you have yet to answer on that, so once again you’re just as complicite. if you want to debate do so on what i post instead of changing the subject to something you think will silence me. you haven’t got a clue about anything you post about. all you do is vomit up your dem talking points full of half truths and outright lies that you get from and parrot the lame stream media.

Sep. 9, 2012 at 8:38amTWIGDADDYPLEASE69 . . . OK you can’t answer the Romney question. I’ll admit, it was a toughie. I mean, how can you defend a Republican nominee completely ignoring the military in his convention acceptance speech – the biggest speech of his life? You can’t defend it, and you proved that.
I should have started with sumpin a little less challenging. Tell you what, let’s go with your suggestion. You say, “i berated another poster for picking on Krauthammer’s medical condition”
Let’s look at the source comment from TrueSoundsofLiberty that sent you into the fan blades: “This from the guy that speaks like he’s bored all the time. Just listening to him makes me want to slip into a coma.”
Now what is it in there that suggests he’s “picking on Krauthammer’s medical condition”? Don’t bother, here’s the answer – nothing. Perhaps that’s why your original response has been deleted. (Though I have another theory on that. Wanna know what it is?)
So you see, despite your weenus waving proclamation that you WON’T STAND DOWN!!!!!!!!!!, you are already down. Your challenge is to man UP. It’s OK to be wrong, but it’s not OK to be wrong and refuse to admit it. You should have learned that about 40 years ago. But take heart! It’s never too late to be a genuine Big Daddy!

good Lord you are a dolt!!! i did answer your romney question. what part didn’t you understand??? i said romney mentioned the military in his acceptance speach, as well as gave two seperate speaches to veterans groups. that answered your question.
1) you stuck your nose in something that was none of your business, if true was offended or wanted to respond to my post, could have easily no need for you in it whatsoever.
2) the way he speaks is because of his medical condition soooooooooooo that is why the beratement. as others also pointed out too . you say i’m already down?? that’s a laugh you have not said one thinghere other then to say i’m wrong what am wrong about???? LOL that is too funny. if he spent every single speach ONLY TALKING ABOUT THE VETS, OR THE WAR you left pukes would be crying he’s a war monger and doesn’t care about your average citizen. if you haven’t noticed(probably didn’t because you’re such a obama fan boy) obummer very very rarely even mentions military, or vets in his speaches. but to you that’s ok with you. what’s your excuse for owebama not mentioning the military in ever single speach? you have none.

Sep. 9, 2012 at 3:44pmFAGDADDY22 . . . OK, you’re 0 for 2. Is it always like this with you? I’d suggest that you go back and review your posts that got you into this sticky wicket, but alas they’ve been scrubbed for their total lack of merit and their abundance juvenile insults. Let’s try one more time, but you have to promise to make a better effort. This stuff is easy. Ready?
Why is Mitt now pledging to keep most of Obamacare?
Why does he think Russia is our #1 geopolitical foe?
Why did Paul Ryan vote for defense cuts?
Pick a question, any question, and give it a go.
But be careful – three strikes and you’re out.

Sep. 9, 2012 at 7:26pm“Of course, there are a number of things that I like in healthcare reform that I’m going to put in place,” Romney added. “One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage. Two is to assure that the marketplace allows for individuals to have policies that cover their family up to whatever age they might like.”
“I say we’re going to replace Obamacare. And I’m replacing it with my own plan. And even in Massachusetts when I was governor, our plan there deals with pre-existing conditions and with young people,” Romney told “Meet the Press.”
there’s your answer in his own words. he wants to keep two provisions.

Sep. 11, 2012 at 4:27amyou said in your previous post pick one so i did. now i get you. when you’re bested by someone, had your half true questions and statements answered with hard cold facts you can’t take it so you deflect and skirt the answer by changing the subject. refuse to acknowlege that your are wrong. you have an attitude of superiority, when the hard cold fact is you do not know anything your talking about. i have better things to do such as keeping my state reps and governor on their toes. that’s right i almost daily email my reps with my oppinions on bills and resolutions in both house and senate and recieve again almost daily answers from my reps. as i write this i have 6 emails to go through from my rep and senator, as well as i keep in contact with my Gov. on things that are important to my state. good luck with your dreary, hate filled little life.

“pick one so i did” . . . Maybe, but you didn’t pick one of my questions. You made up your own. And you couldn’t even answer your own question, you just cut and pasted one of Mitt’s labored quotes. But I gave you credit for the effort, call it a foul tip, but you’re not even willing to take another swing. Instead, “you can’t take it so you deflect and skirt the answer by changing the subject”
Yes, by all means continue with your deathless role as watchdog for democracy. Keep emailing your guv and reps. I’m sure they’re hanging on every word. And I’d keep those auto responses they send back. They could be worth money some day. But do yourself a favor, when you’re “going through” those texts, try the SHIFT key every once in awhile.
Strike three! You’re out!

Sep. 7, 2012 at 1:57amYou trust his judgement? He’s the Chris Mathews of the right. He’s never said anything positive of the Democrats or ever cracked on Republicans. I’m not saying that there is anyone you should trust nowadays. I’d say if you didn’t see the speech watch it later or read the text. Letting talking heads on either side of the aisle tell you what to think is not healthy.

Chris Matthews is a blithering psychopath that likes to pick fights with others when he has them outnumbered 15 to one then he brags about how he handed the guy his lunch. He is a coward. And, if you think that the Krauth is the same as Matthews then you must have some sort of brain damage. You have some kind of mental disorder.

Sep. 7, 2012 at 12:57amThat’s weird, he’s had such glowing praise for all the other speakers at the DNC.
What I find really strange is that Romney didn’t say a single word about our soldiers abroad – basically spit in their faces, as well as those of their families. Spit right in the faces, as though they weren’t even Americans. Does anybody but me find that “empty?” Yeah, sure, he’s the guy to be commander in chief.

Romney left the RNC, and spoke in person to the American Legion 8 days ago.
Obama was invited as well, but just sent a video.
Take a wild stab in the dark what Romney spoke about during that ENTIRE time!

Sep. 7, 2012 at 1:36amHaha desperate point JZS. I guess Romney needed to give a big shout out to all the dead “Corpse men” he sees. I kinda don’t envy you. There’s not alot for you to tout about your guy given how meh at best our economy has been throughout his entire term. Conservatives felt the same trying to defend Bush towards the end there.

Sep. 7, 2012 at 2:20am@JZS – That’s because we don’t have to say it – we live it. Conservatives have always loved, respected, and been grateful to and for our military, and they KNOW it.
People of Obama’s ilk only parade their “love” for the military at election time to pander for votes. They talk the talk but don’t walk the walk. Big difference.

Sep. 7, 2012 at 9:48amD-FENCE, JZS is just parroting Chrissy Matthews from earlier. I think Rachel Madcow spoke on that subject too. As well some reporter did ask Romney about that. Romney did explain that he spoke to veterans one of the nights down in Tampa at a VFW. But, as far as the convention went he took Clinton’s route regarding “Its the economy, stupid.” I don’t recall Clinton talking about Desert Storm, Iraq, or even that we also had troops in Somalia. Frankly, they were all so successful at the time, that those topics would play to GHW Bush’s favor. He hammered away on the economy and eventually won on that. Did Clinton spit in the faces of all GI’s and veterans? No, not until he got in office and rained down his wrath upon the military. Even admitted in writing how he did evade the draft by deception. I expect Romney to keep hammering away on the economy just as Clinton did. This accusation that Romney spit in the faces of the GI’s is just more slight of hand. 0bama has no record of success with the economy, and employment so, point out that Romney did not mention Afghanistan in Tampa. We need a person in the White House who will help fix the economy instead of getting in it’s way. And, one who will get things done in Afghanistan.
Just heard a statistic regarding Afghanistan. Since 0bama has been the Commander In Chief, he has been responsible for 2/3rds of the American deaths in that theater of operations. Why do I say “responsible?” Because he’s the boss, he is to be held

Sep. 7, 2012 at 11:41amRJ, actually I agree with your response to my post. Actually I was mocking Allen West’s comments about “spitting in the face” of God (I actually never use that phrase). So, you’re right. I was trolling.
But in any case, the real reason Romney didn’t talk about Afghanistan is that he doesn’t have an opinion – or as Kerry pointed out, he has several contradictory opinions – and neither does the Republican party. If we get out, Republicans, and perhaps some Democrats, will object, if we stay, eventually everyone will object.
In my humble opinion, that’s the actual reason. Romney’s not about to take a position on that issue.
