N.C. Man Charged for Twitter Death Threat: I Will ‘Assassinate President Obama’

It seems death threats against the nation’s top political figures are running rampant. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney recently received a death threat that TheBlaze captured on an exclusive video from an attendee at the Democratic National Convention. While at the same time, two threats made against President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle are working their way through the legal system.

Most recently, a Charlotte, N.C., man was arrested for death threats against the president issued on Twitter Monday. Donte Jamar Sims, 21, going by the Twitter handle @DestroyLeague_D posted several tweets that suggested plotting the murder of Obama, according to the Charlotte Observer. Here’s the tweets:

Sims was arrested Wednesday, and although he still awaits a detention hearing next week, he has issued a verbal and written apology.

In a separate incident occurring in July, threats against the first lady Michelle Obama were made by a D.C. police officer who has not been publicly identified. This officer, it was reported by the Washington Post, will not be charged for these threats but could face disciplinary action from the department itself.

According to the Post, the threats made earlier this summer were reported after an officer heard them made over breakfast at a restaurant. The officer reporting the incident accused the other officer of using his cellphone as a prop with shooting sound effects while talking about the Mrs. Obama.

Although federal prosecutors have decided not to pursue the case further, the Post reports Police Chief Cathy Lanier saying on WTOP radio that an internal investigation continues as “there’s absolutely no place for jokes that could be perceived as a threat to the first lady.”

  Despite his rigorous efforts to divide and destroy America, I definitely do not want President Obama assassinated. I really want to see Obama caught in a scandal that the media can’t spin and for which Obama can’t lie his way out of it. I want him publicly disgraced for blatantly violating the Constitution. Not just him, but also Valerie Jarrett and many others within his administration.

  Jackact, You are correct. I hope Nobama2013 loses the election and becomes a mulit billionaire and has to work everyday of his life just to keep Mrs. Obama in pocket money and she has some deep pockets. There is no way Mrs.Obama is going to fly commercial airlines ever again. And pay his fair share!! The last thing this country needs is another event like our President Kennedy being killed. To this day I still get lump in my throat when remembering that time. Anyone who even jokes about such a thing is a fool. As bad as NoBama2013 is for our Country our Republic will survive his administration and we will recover and be stronger for it. I do not like Romney he will wreak havoc a little differently than NoBama. No doubt about it, this poor devil making threat against NoBama2013 has to be mentally disturbed. A mental hospital probably is more in line then prison. Yahweh bless the United States of America.

  You are probably right. If a video surfaced of Obama raping a kid then he’d probably win an Academy Award, the Medal of Honor, and another Nobel Prize for Peace.
  
  Looked up the Presidential Succession Act and if someone did assassinate Obama then the other 18 – from Biden to Napolitano – would be equally as bad, perhaps worse.

The best way to deal with obama and ALL of the people in his administration is to keep them very much alive but in prison for the rest of there lives. Communists are not welcomed here AT ALL. If you want to be a commi…fine….. this is STILL a free country…..obama has not taken over quite yet, but he’s workin on it. You are free to believe in communism but just shut up. This country is not and never will be a communist country. Cuba and Venezuela have wonderful beachfront property…..give em a call….. or better yet, pay em a visit…….

What would be interesting to know is if this guy would have voted for Obama in 08 had be been able to vote? He is 21 I don’t expect him to make extremely smart choices yet but I don’t care how much you don’t like Obama to get on Twitter and say that stuff is not only wrong but extremely stupid

The trolls aren’t out yet, they usually show up a bit later and will try to make us look hatefull and wanting to see Obama killed. I have to say in all honesty I am so looking forward to him being voted out of office, and I do not want that taken away. I want to see him around as we bring the country back and freedom get stronger. I want to see his jaw get tight as all his executive orders get destroyed, and most of all. I want to hear him as an “elder” in the communist-oops, I mean democratic party, bemoaning prosperity and the nobleness of supporting the founding fathers. Best of all I want to see him fade away as fast as he came, to whoever his masters are. Please feel free to add on to this of what you are looking forward to after his loss.

  I agree. I want him voted out of office. I want to see the glare in his eyes as Romney is sworn in. I want to hear him sheepishly say with his jaw clenched “I stand relieved” when Romney says “I relieve you, sir.”. I want him escorted out post haste, but I don’t want him hurt. I want him to quietly go home and live the rest of his life in peace and quiet, and leave the rest of us alone.

  I want to see his expression when Mitt Romney signs the bill to REPEAL his SIGNATURE ACHIEVEMENT and CROWNING ACCOMPLISHMENT – ObamaCare.
  The Supreme Court [John Roberts] tried to straddle the fence in their decision when they
  upheld this frankenstein monster of a law on technicality. However, they did leave an out
  in the decision by stating that it is for the American people to decide.
  
  Repeal will essentially make Barry irrelevant to history as a complete failure.

So Romney is threatened and nothing is done – most likely on orders of Obama; and here a man makes a threat to the POTUS (which no one should ever do) and is picked up instantly. We see the double standards once again at play with Obama and his administration.

Yet in the past 10 days, dems have publically, on camera, on facebook, threatened the lives of Akin and Romney…the facebook page even titled “KILL Romney”
and what? No arrest?
What about the black panthers comment (regarding white people) “we’ll kill you, then kill you again”?
Nope, no arrests.
Or Zimmerman, whom the whole social network was buzzing with death threats, even giving out his address? Again, NOPE.

We are living in a country where some are more equal than others .
