Obama: ‘You’ll Love Me Even More’ With My Plan to Ask the Wealthy to Pay Higher Taxes

President Barack Obama told an enthusiastic crowd on Friday they would “love me even more” once he told them about his plan to ask wealthy households to pay more in taxes.

Speaking at the University of Iowa, an audience member shouted out, “We love you Obama!” He replied with his somewhat standard “I love you back,” then added: “But let me tell you the fourth thing — you’ll love me even more.”

“Fourth,” he continued, “my plan would reduce our deficit without sticking it to the middle class. Independent analysis has shown that my plan would cut deficits by $4 trillion. And I’ve already worked with the Republicans in Congress to cut a trillion dollars’ worth of spending, because those of us who care about what government can do to help people give them a ladder up. … I want to make sure that we also reform our tax code so that it’s simple and fair, and so that we ask the wealthiest households in America to pay higher incomes on — or higher taxes on incomes over $250,000.”

I feel sorry for some of our youth–the ones fooled by this (dare I say it lest I be put on the “Obama Watchdog list?!?”) EVIL person. Even Satan came off as an “angel of light” and can mimic that which is “good.” How easy it is also for this politician! He’s nothing more than a snake-charmer!

I remember once being young, naive, idealistic–and believing the lies of smooth-talking politicians. People have perhaps forgotten how “Slick Willy” got his name. Well Obama’s no different and maybe even worse.

But as someone else wrote–all Obama has left are the radicals and the naive–the uninformed. I really wish these youth (and a few others who don’t look as young but should know better) would see the “emperor’s” clothes come off. I really hope and pray they might come to see who he REALLY is before election day! Recommended read: “The Oath,” by Frank Peretti.

  After hearing Biden worship Obama at the DNC, and realizing how lost and fooled many Americans still are, I’m preparing myself for these zombies after the economy and dollar tank. Never in my life have I witnessed, or studied in American History, of one man running for office, or in office, being so greatly praised, admired and adorned before the public, and presented as someone we must believe in, hope and trust. Biden’s speech was disgusting.

  Four years ago I was afraid of Obama to be named President; I even had nightmares. I’m not exaggerating. After election day I have unable to listen to his voice and when people praise him I fill sick to my stomach.
  It’s sad and nauseating to see how people (young and old) smile at him like victims of a spell.
  I have prayed for God to help us get back our country and turn it back to Him. I have the feeling his is listening to us this time.

  To ask the rich to pay higher taxes? Does that mean that everyone who pays taxes will pay higher taxes? Didn’t and don’t the billionaires and trillionairs get off scott free? I guess the un Federal Reserve needs more of our tax dollars to loan back to us at a ridiculously high rate of interest..I heard back years ago that we got 3 cents on the dollar..I just didn’t know that that dollar we were borrowing was our own tax dollars.   My wife and I own a retail store in a very affluent neighborhood. We earn our living and pay our employees for one reason alone. The wealthy customers who walk in our door.
  
  When things went south in 2006-2007 our sales dropped 40% and kept going down until 2010. We laid off all but two of our employees and only began hiring again last year. Why? Because our wealthy customers stopped spending money.
  
  If the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire it will adversely affect every single small business in the country and now they they want to add more on top?
  
  If Democrats think taxing the wealthy is a way to stimulate the economy and raise their station in life they are dumber than I thought.
  
  By the way, not a single one of our employees is voting for Obama because they know who butters their bread.

  This is an example of how poorly taught our kids are in high school & college. BO’s quote says his plan will reduce the DEFICIT by 4 trillion dollars. HELLO!!!! Is anyone reading or listening to this.???? THE deficit is NOT at 4 trillion dollars. I believe the deficit ( which is our annual mtg. payments on this country – monthly payments times 12 ) are at 1.2 trillion dollar deficits. The DEBT is at 16 trillion. And they cheered. We don’t even have a 4 trillion dollar deficit. Is everyone mentally ill? No one caught that? And secondly last week at his low attendee convention he said he was going to double down on his policies by investing ( spending ) MORE on all the failed education, energy & auto BS. Now he is cutting the deficit by spending more after he cuts spending by one trillion dollars. Were these college kids drug tested before they attended this “speech”.?? Was this supposed to be comic relief rather then a speech? All this and without hurting the middle class. Does anyone have some Malox or Tums? Maybe an aspirin would be better. How dizzy can he spin you?? Folks, please just don’t listen or read anymore. We know what to do we do not need to be infected by getting to close to it all, why chance it? God said, “if you love me you will keep my commandments”.   raising taxes on the rich actually could create jobs considering the fact the rich are richer than ever and corporations have record profits and are not producing very many jobs, so if that money was to be distributed to small and medium business it could create jobs, if you like keynsian big goverment economics which it seems republicans and democrats do. they will also use the clinton arguement of taxing the rich and resulting to create jobs.

  Right now they’re having a blast on their parents dime or on government student loans.

What frightens me is that it is so easy by doing the tiniest bit of research to debunk most of what he claims. Therefore this means that those who still think he is the best choice for Pres. have taken zero time to do any research. Those are not informed voters but automatons, they could be led by anyone with the proper charisma. I wish every person who has decided to vote for Obama would spend just one afternoon doing research – and not research that comes only from places like HuffPo or comedians like Jon Stewart. Or even just to listen without becoming angry and defensive. A calm, intelligent conversation with anyone who has even a small bit of knowledge about the real situation in our economy would help. But we seem to just keep deepening the divide between the two parties – soon it will be so wide that it is impossible to mend. And to the folks on the conservative side – please have the patience to discuss the issues even with those who at first only slam you with vile language. It’s amazing how taking just a little bit of time responding with kindness, even when being called every name in the book, can begin to form a crack in someone’s defensive wall they have around them. I’ve managed to do it a couple of times on Twitter-hard to do in such few characters!! – but kindness can pay off. Each of us only needs to get ONE PERSON to listen. It can be done, even the young kids, gays, religion haters, baby killers minds can be softened with just a little kindness & calmne

  Your mistake here is that the founding fathers expected everyone to pay the same tax and there was no income tax. An income tax that soaks the rich is not apt to stir the poor into action. By going after the rich the Dems feel secure that the majority of Americans will side with them. Hopefully enough people see that this kind of class warfare will not do well for the country in the long run. I believe an income tax where everyone has some “skin in the game” results in a far more interested and enlightened electorate.

Ask Jeff Immelt, and how much in taxes did GM pay for last year? Yep, another Goose Egg. The stats have been out there, and if the government took every penny the wealthy of this country made for an entire year, it would pay for almost eighty days worth of what 0bama’s government’s operations. The best way is to get off the backs of the wealthy and allow them to provide jobs again. Put this nation back to work, the same as only a few months after Reagan put a halt to Carter’s attempt to become the worst president in American history. I saw this nation change and go back to work and more funding flowed into the government coffers, and I expect to see the same thing again next year. You’ll get nowhere except 0bama’s expected social justice by killing the goose that lays the golden egg.

They simply want to manipulate the same unfair tax system we have in their favor. Let’s try a fair tax or national sales tax instead of an income tax, that would be a serious proposal.   JADAMS: Serious question. Do you tax food stamps, welfare checks or any of the 80+/- other programs that directly compensate people simply for being citizens? If you do, wouldn’t that be double taxation? According to an Academic paper by Suzanne Metzler (Cornell Univ. Prof) half of the recipients of social programs do not believe they have used benefits from the US Government. Could be the entitlement mentality, but I think some of these people believe they are on the payroll.

If your on foodstamps or any other kind of government welfare you should feel the pain like the rest of us.   INLIGHTOFTHINGS..you say many folks do not think they have “used” government benefits. Could it be that most of those people are retired folks on SS, Medicare, etc…and they believe they “earned” those benefits? Do you think that some very wealthy retired people….like Warren Buffet (82)…should get SS? He has “earned” it, but do you think he “needs” it? I believe the time has come to start asking some hard questions, because the reality is….there is not enough cash to go around.

  Why do Republicans (I’m an Independent) tend to think that “only” the “wealthy” employ people? There are people that are not wealthy that employ maids, nannies, personal assistants, etc. There are plenty of small business owners that are far from wealthy and are employing people. There are plenty of folks with high paying jobs that don’t employ a single person. My point is that the tax code/policies should not be bandied about in elections with such generalities as earned income levels and percentages. We all know the devil is in the details/deductions, so why the hysterics? The wealthy get their deductions either way. The “non-wealthy” have no one “lobbying” for them and their deductions.

  JADAMS1214, I’ll agree with you 100% about going with a fair tax of some sort. I’m in favor of a flat tax system that is so simple that it can be completed on a post card sized form for the average household. Naturally, large businesses will have more space to fill in, but still keep it simple. Imagine reducing the size and scope of the IRS and actually following the Equal Protection Clause which is really intended to protect Americans from the wrath of the government.

Well, that takes care of 7 or 8 days of spending!
Why not tax the unions who are exempt from taxes yet are able to spend money (resorts, etc) and given tax money from those that pay. In addition, maybe we should ask for $1,000 from the 48% that do NOT pay income taxes (afterall, they should have some skin in the benefits that they receive!)

  We do not even have a 4 trillion dollar deficit!!!! HELLO out there. Misleading is mild. Our DEFICIT is at 1.2 trillion. But he will cut 4 trillion off it. I suppose that is how awful it will be if he gets 4 more. We thought 5 trillion in DEBT was bad which created the 1.2 trillion deficit, is he saying we will have more then a 4 trillion DEFICIT???? The debt incurred to equal that would be like an additional 20 trillion dollars. Why did no one catch that. Go back and read!!!!
