See the Grand Getaway Where the Obamas Stayed While at the DNC in Charlotte

I thought it might be wise to wait until after the DNC to post this so that the Secret Service didn’t decide to come talk to me. While staying in Charlotte, I had a great view of the comfy complex where I believe President Obama and the First Lady stayed (along with staffers and security!):

It may not look so posh from this vantage…I was mostly able to see the activity in this parking lot as vehicles (including police and other security vehicles) were scanned before they could approach the property.

I never did see anyone playing tennis.

In any case, the Obama team picked a cool corner of Charlotte for the Obamas & Company to hide out.

I once stayed at The Ballantyne for a single night a few years ago. If I were writing a TripAdvisor review I’d say — very nice.

There wasn’t a lot of sun in Charlotte this week. But any inclemency need not have deterred a determined swimmer:

It is a golf resort…which was probably also a plus for President Obama (though I’m not sure if he had time to play):

There had been a few local media reports in the lead up to the DNC about the “dignitary” who might be staying at The Ballantyne. And by Monday the theory was in “widely believed” category. By the last day it was confirmed. The reports I saw were mainly focused on the traffic impact for local residents:

The traffic impact included the route to the dandy Aloft Charlotte Ballantyne where I was staying. There was a police checkpoint before you could approach the Aloft and guests had to show two kinds of dashboard displays to use the parking lot.

The road to the Aloft continues to go around the back of The Ballantyne property — but traffic was totally blocked by concrete barriers and security just past the Aloft.

You can see where the Aloft sits on the right of the map above…just below are the two tennis courts I could see from my window.

And just below the tennis courts is The Lodge. The main hotel sits to the left of the map. Now — I don’t believe the Obamas were staying in the main hotel…I was able to drive in and out of the parking lot pretty easily. The real security and barriers were back by The Lodge. The hotel also has a Cottage — more on that below. First let’s take a look at the front of The Lodge:

If you were having a big family reunion, you would want to book this place! It is 40,000 square feet of fun. There are 35 guest rooms.

President Obama is notoriously competitive at sports and all kinds of games. Could that have applied to a round of billiards?

The Lodge even has it’s own gym in case anyone, ahem, needed to tone up her triceps:

But it’s not all fun and games at here — plenty of space for the serious meetings:

All in all, the presidential advance team did a dandy job of picking the digs.

It’s more beneficial to Obama and his cronies to have more people relying on the government for their next meal than to allow them to find work and choose their own destinies.

  All things being fair, it does not bother me that barry and the wife stayed here. There are many more serious things taxpayer money is wasted on than a few nights at a luxury hotel during the convention. I am sure if Romney is elected and decides to run again in 4 years – he will stay in a luxury hotel during the RNC as well.

  Dora, the point is as president of the United States that talks about improving the economy that he had the biggest part of destroying, he could have stayed in a more reasonably priced Hotel since it was not only him and family, it was also his entire entourage including the numourous Secret Service agents.
  By the way, I didn’t read anything about complaints of the bed bug infestation that the other convention goers had to endure at other hotels since bed bugs are at epidemic proportions, especially in the warmer Southern states.
  If it was me, I would have stayed at one of my millionaire friends homes if invited which I am sure Obama was just to show that I am trying to control our out of control deficit, but that is not Obama’s way, now lets play a guessing game and try to figure where Michelle and her posse will go for their next half a million dollar vacation on the tax payers dime since it may be the last free vacation her and her Chicago homies will be able to take, I just hope it is not Italy, perhaps France so she could go and visit Mamia Jamal Boulevard named in honor of the militant murderer that shot Philly Police Officer William Faulkner execution style that would be a proud moment for Michelle and her Chicago cronies.

  When I worked at the Emabassy Suites in Charlotte, both presidents Bush and Clinton stayed with us. Their suites were far less opulent and far more functional. For a man who claims to be “one of us” he’s not exactly doing a great job.

There is no surprise the President of The United States stayed at a very nice resort. This is normal and there is nothing wrong with this. I do have a problem with Obama stoking the flames of wealth envy and trying to act like a common man. Obama is part of the 1% just like Romney. The difference is Romney doesn’t pretend to be something he is not like Obama. Romney is wealthy and he makes no apologies about his wealth nor should he. Obama is also wealthy but pretend to be poor to relate to his base as he condemns other people for being privileged just like him.

  I absolutely do understand that the poorest person in the US is wealthier than most of the world’s population. And I agree the Marxist don’t want to bring the standard of living of everyone in the world up to the US standard. They want to level the playing field by bringing the US and Europe down to 3rd world level. My point is every one that has been president of the US since George Washington has gotten perks like no one else in our country. There are so many other reasons to criticize Obama on his policies that have inflicted so much pain on the American people; I find it petty to harp on him staying at a nice resort.

  You nailed it and hit it right on. I have been telling many people for many years what you have stated here. That is exactly what has been happening. The expectations of CEO’s and companies to make a profit while dealing with high pay to employees has forced the CEO’s decisions in sending manufacturing oversees to the slave labor countries. Like Nike when it was discovered in the 1990′s that it was contracting out manufacturing to foreign contractors that were slaving their people. UNIONS have destroyed companies. You also got it right on when you said that they will not be satisfied until all of the countries (especially China and India) are all making the equal amount of money via currencies in comparison to the USA…this is like globalism isnt it? Step by step. Even Walmart advised its suppliers to move their manufacturing oversees. All unions should be illegal. What do we need them for that the local and federal laws dont do for them already?

  Where we really went wrong was allowing our politicians to let half of the American citizens pay no federal taxes….no skin in the game so to speak…They think they have nothing to lose so vote for the guy promising free stuff and to hell with the debt…They pay no taxes so the rich guys will pay it back right?The sad fools wont figure it out until the upcoming skyrocketing interest rates and inflation makes it almost impossible to buy food….if they can find any to buy.

OBAMA ALWAYS HAS TIME to hit the links… that’s where he samples his “Choomganging Material” anyone with half a brain knows without a doubt. That’s where he goes to get hammered where NO ONE CAN SEE NOR HEAR a peep from his ’rounds’.

We have not ONE SINGLE NEWS REPORT of a reporter being invited along for a round… no one finds THAT strange? Barely even get pictures of it anymore.

For instance, the GOP establishment wants obamacare just as much as the dems. They just don’t want to look as if they want it. Take my word for it, obamacare will never be repealed, no matter who wins.

  you can bet that his administration will not pay the bill, like they have not paid a lot of their bills, this is typical of a liberal, they want everyone else to pay for them but they do not want to help pay for everyone else, what is the old saying do as i say,not as i do. obama and his buddies like to eat,sleep and party well,but they want the rich to give up more sop they can continue their lifestyles,but they also want everyone else to suck it up and until he can fix the economy that he inherited it is going to get better in four more years, according to obama.while he lives the high life,we are living the hard life,but i will be okay,because i am prepared,while his followers will be in a lot of trouble waiting on obama to bail them out,he will be to busy hiding in his luxury compound.

There’s nothing i hate viewing more than someone else’s “vacation photos”. I already know what tennis courts look like. Ditto bedroom furniture, parking lots, traffic reports, pool tables, etc. Big Surprise… This POTUS shacks up in a highbrow hotel! Don’t they all? The only thing that would make this story less relevant would be Lindsay Lohan’s opinion of it all.

As in Mathew 20:16: ” So those who are last now will be first then, and those who are first will be last”.
And maybe his records won’t be so jealously sealed and although we can think it’s going to be too late, the truth will come to light. Nothing is hidden under the Sun.

  The Obama’s have bought a 30 million dollar house in Hawaii….their luxury life will not end of they loose the election. He has millions of dollars stahed away all over the wolrd I’m willing to bet…likely has Swiss accounts of his own (with help from Soros no doubt). Unless Barry is charged with something illegal (take your pick on that one…he has without a doubt broken a number of laws in and out of office) the Obamas will be living the high life for a long long time.

  You know what? The President of the United States can’t stay at a Motel 6. Even if he wanted to, he would have to accept that it would cause more problems than it would solve. Whether you or I think he is a good or lousy President is irrelevant. The President is an important guy who can only stay in places that are prepared to receive important people.

This is now the second story in two days that the Blaze should be ashamed of posting. The headline reads.
“See the Grand Getaway Where the Obamas Stayed While at the DNC in Charlotte”

but in the first paragraph the author writes “While staying in Charlotte, I had a great view of the comfy complex where I believe President Obama and the First Lady stayed (along with staffers and security!):”

The headline states as fact thats where the President stayed but the author uses the word “believe”

My God Glen, The Blaze what are you doing? If you don’t stop putting out stories like this I’m going to look at you like you are the Huffpo, MSNBC or some tabloid magazine. Report stories that are facts.

Let’s talk about the dollar, jobs, insider trading in govmt office or the lack of any budget(which the dems easily could have done when they had Senate and House)
