(TheBlaze/AP) — A motorcycle police officer escorting President Barack Obama’s motorcade has died after being hit by a pickup truck.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Teri Barbera says the Jupiter police officer was on Interstate 95 Sunday afternoon preparing to shut the roadway down when he was struck by a Ford F-150.
He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. His identity has not been released.

Barbera says an investigation is ongoing and no charges have yet been filed against the driver.
Obama made a campaign appearance at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
White House press secretary Jay Carney says the president was notified of the officer’s death and “our thoughts and prayers are with the officer’s family.”

Some may make the mistake in thinking Obama was anywhere near where the officer was hit.

Not a day passes that we don’t hear a story about how some cop willingly neglected his duties and his oath by infringing upon the natural and constitutionally guaranteed rights of the Citizens that he swore to protect. That said, I’m sure there are good police and a few examples can be found in the Oathkeepers ranks and in the sheriffs organization that they support. However, we do know that this officer was acting in a manner to “protect” Obama; a known enemy of the state and as best I can tell, rightfully a British subject under the law (his father was a Kenyan under British rule which by right makes him a British subject under their law). And don’t worry, I feel the same way every time Marine One doesn’t take out Obama when they have the chance.

Sep. 9, 2012 at 9:20pmI’ve always thought it was a bad idea for officers to use motorcycles when on a motorcade or some sort of blocking position. It requires much more aggressive driving at higher speeds and almost playing chicken at times. It would be much wiser for them to be in cruisers. Hopefully it changes.
