(TheBlaze/AP) — Power failed in Cuba’s capital Sunday night, plunging most of the city and some of its suburbs into darkness.
There was no immediate word on what caused the blackout, which hit a little after 8 p.m. in the middle of the nightly news on state television.
State radio, however, made no mention of the power failure, and calls to the power system’s headquarters gave busy signals.

The outage knocked power out in a 24-mile-wide (40-kilometer) stretch from Havana’s western residential neighborhoods across the city’s center and Old Havana district and on to suburbs on the other side of the bay.
In Havana’s Vedado entertainment and business district, the only buildings with visible light were tourist hotels and upscale apartment towers, which have backup generators.
Big blackouts were common in Havana a decade ago, when Cuba had an energy crisis. Isolated outages still hit the city on occasion, but citywide blackouts have become rare.

The roads,environment,buildings everything. No foreign enemy could more thoroughly destroy a country. Lying,cheating,theft,bully-ism and murder area huge parts of the communist way of life. I felt as soon as this president started giving speaches and I started researching him, about the middle of 2008, that the was a communist. I wouldn’t put anything past him. Have you read The Road to Serfdom? It says somewhere that (paraphrased) all socialists become fascists when they realize that the only way to get their untopian society is to FORCE people to make the changes they want made. According to an undercover agent, Bill Ayers said they would have to kill a large segment of the population because they would not be able to brain wash them – oh, excuse me, re-educate them. At the time, in the 1970′s, the number was around a quarter million?

First thing he did after victory for ‘the people’ was seize the biggest most beautiful house there, built by the biggest most successful contractor there for himself. When things finally fell apart, the Bolivian Army got him and he swore, at first, that it wasn’t him. Then, he pleaded with them for his life and offered them all kinds of ‘gifts’ and imaginary power long gone. Then they shot him like the dog that he was.

The “no explanation” part is more disturbing than the failure itself. These people are owned like animals…they don’t deserve an explanation from the ‘great ones’ in government. He soooooooooooo thought their health care system was soooooooooooooo great when in reality it was so horrible they had toilets clogged up and the hospitals were filthy. Ah, yes. Let’s face it Obamacrats. We are an exceptional country. And why are we an exceptional country? Because of free enterprise, which empowers we the people, and because of limited government, which prevents the government from getting so powerful as to give them the ability to commit death by government in order to keep their power.

From this experience, I finally broke down and bought a decent generator. Get ready folks, some of this may also be beyond the governments control or lack thereof to provide services.

Sep. 10, 2012 at 6:45amI’m in Texas, and if we get a really hot summer (hasn’t happened yet), we have roaming outages where they intentionally turn off the power for something like an hour, rotating what regions it hits. They usually do it during peak times in the middle of the day. I had my sister-in-law, who doesn’t watch TV and didn’t know about it call me to find out if it was out at my house.
