Rep. Joe Walsh to Sandra Fluke: You’re 31, ‘Go Get a Job’

Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) had a message for Sandra Fluke during a campaign stop on Saturday: You’re 31 years old, “go get a job.”

Prefacing his comments as a “rant,” Walsh called the Georgetown Law School graduate’s speech at the Democratic National Convention “embarrassing.”

“Think about this, a 31, 32-year-old-law student who has been a student for life, gets up there in front of a national audience and tells the American people, ‘I want America to pay for my contraceptives.’ You’re kidding me. Go get a job. Go get a job, Sandra Fluke,” he said to applause at a diner in Addison, Ill.

Fluke shot to prominence earlier this year after Rush Limbaugh referred to her as a “slut” on his radio program following her testimony before a congressional panel in support of contraception coverage.

“I was offended,” Walsh continued. “We’ve got Americans who are struggling. … They’re going to put a woman in front of us who is complaining that the country — you, me and you — won’t pay the nine dollars a month to pay for her contraceptives. How crazy is this?”

Walsh said that “in a way it’s not her fault” because of a culture that teaches people “government will be there for you.”

“We are raising the Sandra Flukes of the world,” he said. “We’re raising Americans who don’t know how to take care of themselves, who feel entitled. This a woman who feels entitled that we all should pay for her contraceptives. This is what we’re teaching Americans? That was embarrassing. That was embarrassing.”

I’ve always found it poetically amusing that Fluke’s name isn’t pronounced like it is spelled. It rhymes with the “F” word! Figures the slut would call herself according to her passtime!

So that means since she wants the American people to pay for her contraceptives – co-workers are Americans. Therefore that means she wants her co-workers to pay for her contraceptives. Yet, that simple truth doesn’t end there, because every American who thinks Americans should pay for their entitlements are directly implicating their co-workers to pay for their entitlements, because they are Americans. Moreover, if government is much much smaller or even almost non-existent, then Entitlement people will demand their co-workers or neighbors take care of the expense. That’s the simple fact, and it must be that mindset must have those thoughts about co-workers and neighbors.

She is a good example of the presidents statement to Joe The Plumber – spread the wealth! This woman is like a bunch of life lond students that live in our little college town here in Oklahoma. At the first of the month and the middle of the month they line up to get college grant money and cash the checks right there. Grant money is for the poverty level poor but somehow they never get off it. one guy I know is a full time student and just as he almost gets a degree he changes his major. His money come from the Army.

Just looking at her after her ranting and raving makes me feel sick. She is a bad example of womanhood. Limbaugh was right about her, it’s what I think when I have to see her image.

After reading the Washington times story yesterday on how close the “Government” was to default ..I am surprised the Republicans just didn’t get in front of the American people and say ..Well were broke ..And had dumped the default on Barry’s thick commie head…Time after time this house of cards is propped up…Always on the come that somehow more money will be coming from the citizen to support it …Stop and think for one minute …16 trillion …You could tax the American people and business to death …and guess what ..That bill isn’t getting covered let alone the future obligations ..This whole game is nonsense …This would be a good time for Mitt and Paul..As close to the election as we are to be honest and tell people their plan on how they are going to deal with this come January ..I am you could say a true believer in a republic ..Where government is there to protect the Individual so he or she can prosper using their God given common sense..Today we are so caught into this web that has been spun for over 70 years and a Obama knows we are trapped in it..and would like nothing more than to eat us after we are choked to death in it..We are just about there. Without spending a penny shredding the endless government human and business regulations and this economy comes roaring back. Ending this what Washington can do for me. At some point it will have to happen. Who will have the courage. Look at Germany waiting for a group of judges this week to make a decision.

So the fate of the Euro and weather a 56 year old Greek can sit on his fat a$$ is not in the hands of the people anymore ..We tried to say no more, please stop ..Use some common sense …We were mocked ridiculed …But never told today you were right…So if a Mitt today had the courage win or loose got in front of the American people and said look this is the freight train coming this is how we will either stop it or how to get off the tracks. That to me would show a true honesty..Again all he will have to do is let the American citizen go free of this web that has been spun.Build create invent and kick up some dust..and shut the door on this Washington is the answer…End this Government business partnership …It is ripe full of corruption top to bottom..Simple no cost …and the American economy recovers in a year …Anything short..More funny money accounting gimmicks and we go on languishing in this web of nonsense …

      Shiroi Raion;

      From The Free Dictionary:

      Fluke:

      1. Any of various flatfishes, especially a flounder of the genus Paralichthys.
      2. Nautical The triangular blade at the end of an arm of an anchor, designed to catch in the ground.
      3. A barb or barbed head, as on an arrow or a harpoon.
      4. Either of the two horizontally flattened divisions of the tail of a whale.
      5. A stroke of good luck.
      6. A chance occurrence; an accident.

Her last name is pronounced the same as the word for a whale’s tail. I grew up very close to where Ms. Fluke did. She’s from a tiny town on top of a mountain. Coal mining area. There are people in my area with the same last name and that’s how they pronounce it. I think she’s just embarrassed about where she’s from.

To jump in or stay out…as in…DISTRESS or THE WATER IS FINE or I GOT THIS or PAY ATTENTION or *BIG HINT*. Context is what defines the sign. So if you ever see a comedian/politician/scientist/celebrity/elite make that sign…and they all mostly do (I’m working on a list which I will never release)…it’s cuz of stating a specific point with that sign they are either lying about, sincerely believe, or the condition of the crowd (which they see you as idiots)

But for Rep. Joe Walsh to tell Miss Fluke to “go get a job”, was incredibly stupid !!!!!

You don’t tell someone to “go get a job”, in the highest unemployment the United States has seen in 75 years.

Rep. Joe Walsh has given the Democrats a sound bite to play over and over again, to show how insensitive the Republicans are to the unemployed.

Its her thinking thats entirely wrong because what it leads to is more of the same from whence it originally came from.

She didn’t get there in her thinking overnight, she has been innoculated with this thinking since elementary school. Its an entitlement philosophy that has riddled our society since the 60′s babyboomers came of age.

They want more and more government to solve more and more ills of our society all the while trashing the very things that have worked so well for so long…morals, rights and wrong, self reliance, liberty, free enterprise.

Instead we coddle, build in a sense of false self esteem based on nothing other than you can do it which is a default for saying we really don’t believe in you but we want you to believe in yourself and just maybe that will be enough to cause you to be successful. Wrong!

The FEELINGS generation has brought this to our table. Its all about making people FEEL good about themselves and putting forth public tax payer funded programs to meet EVERYONE’s NEEDS regardless of how much they even contribute themselves. I am only my brothers keeper when he or she cannot do for themselves, but when they can, they are on their own to sink or swim.

Bryanb stated that Rep Walsh (R)’s comment that Fluke should get a job is insensitive to the fact that the USA has a high unemployment rate. And Walsh’s comments make people leery of wanting to vote Republican in the elections.

No — a thinking person would understand that what Walsh was expressing was that this former law student was whining about was that she wanted other people to pay for her wild sexual party life style. He was suggesting that Ms. Fluke take responsibility for her own life — be an adult. Don’t expect society to feed, cloth, house, and pay for your sexual life activities.

Ms. Fluke has made a name for herself being a trophy item for Congresswoman Pelosi’s agenda and recently at the DNC. No doubt with her connections to these political bigwigs she can (if she isn’t already) find a paying job through her connections.

It is a rather odd twist to the ‘new’ feminism vs what was prompted in the 1960s and 1970s. Modern feminists like Fluke want others to PAY for their sexual behavior while the feminist movement a few decades back was much more about self empowerment and taking responsibility for oneself.

While I kind of see your point that the left will play soundbite games, BryanB, do you really think someone who I assume has her graduates degree going on to law school can’t get a part time job at a retail store or flipping burgers to bring in that sweet sweet contraceptives cash? Time and time again I see that there are still jobs out there, but people are just too lazy and proud to stoop to low paying jobs. Its apparently much more dignified to demand the government pay your way rather than bust your ass working an extra job. Anecdotal, but agriculture seems like aprime example. Despite the terrible economy and despite efforts on our part, we still rely almost exclusively on immigrant workers because native borns of any race refuse to do genuine manual labor that would have been considered cushy in our fathers’ day.

There is something tragically wrong with your morals here, people. @BryanB: (Quote) “You don’t tell someone to “go get a job”, in the highest unemployment the United States has seen in 75 years”

Why not? I think you’re falling into the “sensitive issue” trap that liberals like to use on so many conservatives. I agree with your later comments that in the end it should be about Americans helping Americans, but even liberals tend to use that as a means of attaining a welfare state. IMHO, Rep. Walsh was right in saying what he said. And if anything, I would have added to that statement: “Find your God-given talent, exercise your liberty, build your own independence, and don’t let the Government control every aspect of your life!”

Ya got to be a real macho man like this guy or Rush to take on a private citizen for voicing her opinion. Women should know their place better I guess, or you’ll get tough guys like this coming after you.

Actually what she’s in favor us is insurance companies, not the government, paying for contraceptives because they are used to treat certain medical conditions such as endometriosis.
      ———————————————————————————————————–
Since we now have the wonderful Obamacare, insurance will be in the near future the government. Therefore, you the tax payer will pay for her to be a professional student and have her contraceptives paid for. If she wants contraceptives, then get a job and pay for them yourself, just like I did.

Not really sure leftism is a genetic disorder… this argument doesn’t pass the smell test with homosexuality (as a matter of comparison) either. Telling people who can and can’t live… very leftist/totalitarian in nature. Good grief, don’t become the thing you allege you’re confronting.
Reminding folks of people who are truly in distress thru no fault of their own (the developmentally disabled, elderly, veterans, children) who are being underserved (but trotted out when convenient) ought to be enough to counter this egocentric brand of identity politics. There is something to be said for Fluke’s philosophy on life: “I screw, therefore I am.” Wacky.

I would love to go to college just for fun and learning new stuff, even at my age I have a rule, learn something new and what it really means, everyday. She seems to have a rule, let everyone take care of me while I go to college s-l-o-w-l-y, and not have to actually do anything. Walsh is dead on the money. Yep and who can we blame for the distroying of our country? We only have our selves to blame. We vote these useless idiots into office and then re-elect them over and over. When I was 50 years younger I thought that politicians had to be smart. Buy now that I’m older and wiser I realize that people go into politics because they can’t hold a job in the privet sector. And 70% of the government employees live off the government for the exact same reason. We are now to the point that the middle class and rich can not carry all these people on our backs any longer. How are we going to convince the people that are living off the government that the obama money is almost gone. Then we have 70% of our people starving. This great country hasn’t lasted very long. The Roman Empire lasted a lot longer but they eventually went down the tubes for the same reasons as the USA are…
