The Amazing Video Shot by F-15 Fighter Pilots Using GoPro Cameras That You Probably Haven’t Seen

For a year, F-15 fighter pilots used mountable GoPro Hero cameras to capture footage that was compiled in a video to commemorate the 67th Fighter Squadron winning the 2011 Raytheon Trophy for outstanding aerial achievement.

After viewing the nearly 10-minute film, we have to ask: How have we not seen this yet?

The “2012 Raytheon Award Video” was posted on Vimeo and YouTube in April and wasn’t really been picked up aside from some aerial and defense blogs and websites at the time. LiveLeak posted the video over the weekend, and Business Insider picked it up from there, writing that it rarely posts videos this long but “this one is an exception.”

Edited and uploaded by the user going by “Jersey,” he describes the award the squadron was honored with as the being “given to the top air-to-air squadron in the USAF.” The video itself was shot entirely by the pilots, spanning a year of flying. Jersey is sure to note that not one combat camera personnel was involved in its production.

Here’s more from the video description:

Footage includes flying and aircraft from both the 67FS “Fighting Cocks” and the 44FS “Vampire Bats”, entirely on location at Kadena AB, Japan. Most of the over water footage was filmed while we were raging like demons from hell in the skies over the Pacific Ccean like our brothers did 70 years before us.

Yeah!!! they’re out there in the wild blue yonder protecting our freedom!!!! Oh wait, how long has it been since I actually felt free,HHHMMMMM. Are they protecting our freedom, or are they pawns in a much more sinister game? Makes me wonder if they are protecting our freedom, or guarding the possessions(you and I)of the elites. I mean you do have our military over in Afghanistan working security for the opium producers, and traders. While we sit here thinking we’re free, they have us paying through the nose for everything from fishing to driving. All of witch are supposedly rights guaranteed to us by our constitution. you know, that worthless piece of paper that every military member for the last fifty years, has been duped into thinking they were sacrificing themselves for. Let’s take the second amendment for instance, it’s only one sentence, not to complicated, but part of the constitution that every elected official, law enforcement member, and military member is sworn to uphold and protect. Yet if I walk down the street exercising this right, I may very well get shot by someone who has taken the oath to protect this right. Yes my fellow slaves we’ve been financing(through income taxes, ect.ect.)or own demise. SORRY TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD TIDINGS!!!!

OK Randy you have small point, a bit paranoid, but a point nonetheless……Here is my take on your post………..The military follows orders, those orders come from DC….DC and those who run it (elected/appointed civilians) are the real problem. What we need is better qualified civilians to head up the armed forces which lands us squarely in the middle of being resposnsible for electing the right candidates for office and rejecting those unfit to give a cat orders handing them a one way ticket to obscurity. That simple.

Well Puddleduck, they should not take orders that are given by a commander n chief who puts them in wars that are not declared constitutionally by Congress. at the very least the top brass in the military should be leading the fight to impeach a C N C that would do such a thing. But they will not, for fear of losing their pensions. Plus many of them are deeply invested in the military industrial complex, along with most politicians, and media members. You know, the ones who beat down any Paul Bot that speaks up. It’s not paranoia baby, when it’s happening right in front of your eyes. you are correct in your solution, we have to stop electing morons who can only score votes by promising entitlements. But to do that you have to have a citizenry that is educated. It’s to bad that approximately 80% of our citizens can tell what the problem with our country is, simply by looking in the mirror. I’ll try to explain my 80% figure. Approx. 60% of people don’t use the most precious gift, the vote. Then in 2008, of the approx. 40% that did vote, approx. 53% voted for a Marxist, Communist, Socialist, after 60 years of cold war against such. No, it’s not paranoia when you see agenda 21 being carried out in nearly every community across America, and a border that is so open you could bring a WMD through in your average SUV. It’s not paranoia, when their actually out to get you. WAKE UP

I agree with the bulk of your post Randy……..Rocking the boat is very difficult, even moreso in the military where one wrong move can mean career suicide. It’s tough to take a position without absolute proof which is where the problems lie….if massive change were afoot it would be easier to stand up and draw the line but the sneaky way the left has done things (and some of the GOP) has been through incrementalism. I do believe that the last decade or so has really begun to open the avergae persons eyes as to what is really going on. The last 4 years has magnified the changes to such an extent that I feel many many more folks are now seeing what we have been seeing for a long time now. I have a good feeling about the future as far as that is concerned. I think through oyr efforts here and elsewhere that we have made inroads into the mainstream where people all over the world are realizing they are not alone. We are getting our act together in the nick of time….I only hope that world gives us a few more years of peace to get the country turned around and back on the right path. My fear is the gathering storm clouds over the entire ME, N Africa, and parts of S Asia may not give us that time.

I feel your pain, it’s much the same in civilian life. If you speak out against the established so called government (local, county, state, or fed) you run the high risk of being targeted by law enfarcement, for retaliation. I know from personal experience. But something has to be done. The left is winning simply by attrition. They’re just throwing every thing at us, hoping that we can’t keep up with the salvos. The one thing we have in our favor, is the one thing that will save us. I don’t think I have to tell you what that is, but I will print it for all the uneducated who may be reading along.JESUS CHRIST

      Been there, done that…
During the fight, you have to maintain SA (situational awareness) of how many bad guys, where are your buddies, each bandit threat assessment, etc. You also have to keep track of your jet (fuel, speed, energy level, weapons status, etc.). You have to do this pulling up to 7 G’s and keep the radio comm sorted out, and utilizing the best tactics to get in place to shoot. So for those complaining about the music, that equates to only a minor distraction, easily overcome.

The trouble with the ME are the tactics and strategies all of which came from the former USSR. I could go into boring detail here but for the sake of brevity the Soviet system was a top down command and control system which could not react quickly to changing conditions on a local level…The West gives individual units leeway to make thier tactical decisions in real time as conditions change…it’s a big difference and it requires trust and training bith of which are in short supply in ME nations (which are run by polce state dictators ). Unfortunately the last 30 years or so we have given high level training and frontline gear to the likes of Saudi Arabia and Egypt……they now have a working knowledge of our tactics and methods which worries me greatly.

      http://vayu-sena.tripod.com/exercise-iaf-usaf-su30-f15-article01.html

Romney must reinstate the production run of the F/A 22 Raptor and insist that Reg Flag exercises be changed to reflect the growing skills of many other thought to be lesser nations airmen and thier machines. We have fallen behind the bleeding edge and relied too heavily once again on technology being the only decisive factor… Dicta Boelcke is back on the radar….those rules may be old but they are timeless.

I’m curious JA I wonder how many here realize what is owed to a single brilliant patriot….a lot of what we have to day can be traced back to one single USAF Colonel, an officer which was fought tooth and nail by the brass and Congress until his “works” starting showing dramatic results. Who is this man ? IMO he is the most important genius to ever wear the uniform, John Boyd, without him we would not have had the F15, F16, F18 or the A10 nor the superior tactics he developed that today’s militray (in the West) all use as gospel (the Ooda Loop is sheer genius).

Newt Gingrich and Dick Cheney were champions of this man’s work…..He deserves far more credit than he has ever gotten. His left hook plan in the first Gulf War was never given credit by Shwartzkoff and yet it was Boyd called into DOD by Cheney that developed it.
