’2016: Obama’s America’ Filmmaker Responds to President’s Attacks: ‘I Think They Are Scared — And They Have a Reason to Be’
In an exclusive interview with TheBlaze on Tuesday, Dinesh D’Souza, creator of “2016: Obama’s America,” said President Barack Obama and his campaign are now attacking him because they are “scared” of his documentary and what it reveals.
It’s true that with the 2012 presidential election just around the corner, Obama and his campaign can’t be happy to see that D’Souza’s anti-Obama documentary is now the second biggest political documentary of all time, surpassing popular liberal productions like Michael Moore’s “Bowling for Columbine” and Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth.”
That may be why Obama’s so-called “Truth Team” attacked D’Souza and his film openly and aggressively on BarackObama.com last week, calling it a “deliberate distortion of President Obama and his worldview” and D’Souza a “right-wing” author peddling conspiracy theories. Or perhaps “2016″ has grown so popular that the Obama campaign can’t ignore it any longer.

Regardless, it is clear that D’Souza’s film has caught the attention of the White House and its inhabitant.
D’Souza sat down with TheBlaze to respond to allegations coming from the Obama campaign that his documentary provides a “distorted” and dishonest view of Obama and his past.
Point-by-point D’Souza seemingly debunked the Obama team’s attacks, some based on topics that were not even mentioned in “2016: Obama’s America” and are found in his best-selling book “The Roots of Obama’s Rage,” which the film is based on.
“I think they are scared — and they have a reason to be scared,” D’Souza told TheBlaze. “But I certainly welcome the Obama team getting into this because it seems like the old strategy has completely failed, you know: Ignore it, pray really hard and hope it goes away.”

For argument’s sake, D’Souza addressed the Obama campaign’s attacks one by one:
1. D’Souza falsely claimed that President Obama said he didn’t believe in American exceptionalism—when in fact the President has repeatedly praised America’s exceptional identity and core values.
“First of all, the documentary doesn’t claim that,” D’Souza said. “But I do claim that in an earlier book called ‘The Roots of Obama’s Rage,’ that he doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism. I say that based upon the fact that Obama was asked about that specifically in 2009 and he said we are no more exceptional than the Brits and the Greeks, everybody thinks they are exceptional. And so the meaning of Obama’s response is, if everyone believes they are exceptional, no one really is.”
2. D’Souza falsely asserted that President Obama funded $2 billion in Brazilian oil exploration even though numerous fact checkers and reporters have noted that President Obama had “nothing to do with the loan.”
D’Souza said not only is that true, but he actually “understated the case.”
“Well, the Obama administration has not only approved the $2 billion in subsidies to Brazil, but after that the Obama administration has given billions of dollars to Mexico and Columbia to drill for oil, so I actually understated the case,” he told TheBlaze.
The money was approved by the U.S. Export-Import Bank, which handles these types of transactions, D’Souza explained, but the bank falls under the Obama administration, leaving the president ultimately responsible.
“So this is a case where the Obama administration is refusing to take responsibility for its own actions,” he added.
3. D’Souza falsely charged that President Obama backed Scotland’s release of the Lockerbie bomber only weeks after the Obama administration had put out a statement opposing Scotland’s decision to return Abdelbaset al-Megrahi to Libya and sent a letter to the Scottish government raising the administration’s strong objection.
Firstly, there is no reference to the Lockerbie bomber in “2016,” according to D’Souza.
“This is a recycled White House attack on my book, ‘The Roots of Obama’s Rage,’ in which I refer to a memo that was sent by the Obama administration telling the Scottish government that if they were going to release the Lockerbie bomber, Obama would prefer that he be kept in Scotland and not sent back to Libya,” the best-selling author said.
He continued: “So basically, Scottish officials understood that to mean that the Obama administration was giving them the green light to release the guy as long as they kept an eye on him… that’s how the Scottish government read Obama’s memo. So my original report was correct, and in any case, that has nothing to do with the film.”
4. D’Souza even claimed that President Obama passed the bank bailouts when the facts clearly show that it was President Bush who signed the Troubled Asset Relief Program into law in October 2008.
D’Souza says he never claimed that President Obama was alone in passing the bank bailouts, however, for President Obama to argue he did not approve of the action is “disingenuous.”
“That is true but a technicality,” he said. “The fact of the matter is, Obama was included in those discussions, he approved of them. He said publicly that he supported the bailout and subsequently the stimulus. For Obama now to disclaim responsibility for things that he has signed off on seems a bit disingenuous.”
The fact that the Obama White House is annoyed with the success of “2016″ only shows that they are “worried,” D’Souza told TheBlaze.
“They have succeeded in keeping these facts off the public menu all this time and now they feel like they have to work really hard to prevent people from seeing the film,” he said, taking a deep breath before continuing.
“We are asking one fundamental question: who is Barack Obama? We are investigating the president’s background, his ideology and the implications of his ideology for the future. We are a truth telling team ourselves and I guess his truth telling team is trying to prevent us from getting our message out.”
D’Souza attributes the documentary’s overwhelming success to the nation’s desire to know more factual information about Obama. Even pro-Obama people have seen the movie and marveled at how much they learned about Obama that they didn’t know before, he explained.
“I think that the film goes into territory that has been previously unexplored. In fact, it even goes into territory that the Romney campaign won’t touch,” he added.
D’Souza told Deadline that the producers of “2016: Obama’s America” are trying to find a network to air the documentary before the November elections. He expressed his frustration over the mainstream media ignoring the film.

There are very few conservative movies PERIOD and movies like 2016 and Act of Valor compete and surpass mainstream Hollywood even though their representation in theaters is quite small. Americans WANT TO SEE these movies. THAT is Barack’s problem, at heart Americans still believe in America.

You obviously didn’t read the rebuttals. He gave firm responses to Obama’s denials, suggesting how Obama was explicitly misstating (ie. Obama did say all countries are exceptional), or deliberately understating his involvement (ie. saying the U.S. didn’t issue loans to Brazil, it was the Export-Import Bank, when in fact his administration runs the bank)…
I’m interested to see what other “Truths” these Obama groups dig up.

If this movie does that, then the filmmaker, Dinesh D’ Souza deserves to be known for all time as a true American Patriot. I have been afraid that Romney does not have what it takes to defeat Obama, and I still maintain that he has a very steep mountain to climb. I just wish he had not gone along with the blatant disrespect of the peoples voice during the convention, and I still ask everyone here to voice their concerns with this disregard to the voice of The People. We must not let the Republican or Democrat Party get away with turning a blind ear to us. I hope that everyone agrees with me on that point. I do believe that it is of the utmost importance to get Obama a new address in January of 2013, but I do not want to sacrifice our voice to that extent. I hope you all agree with me on that point if nothing else.

I’ve seen 2016 and it shook me to the core. Why? Because, like the aforementioned app, it uses Obama’s own words, those of his associates, and current interviews with like thinkers to convey a pretty damning case. The Obama Administration response was about as deceptive as one could expect and it is standard practice for Mr. Obama. He likes to destroy challengers. This practice has caught up with him and more and more people are finding out that Obama is not the “nice” or “smart” guy presented publicly.

“The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) is the official export credit agency of the United States federal government. It was established in 1934 by an executive order, and made an independent agency in the Executive branch by Congress in 1945″

Neo-cons find their origins among disillusioned liberal intellectuals from the 1970s and are more interested in promoting their “new” version of democracy than defending and promoting our “representative republic.”
Democracy was rejected by the founding fathers based on the very premise of the ‘tyranny of the majority’ – The Marxists agree with this tyranny – tax the rich – demonize those who produce – dictate by use of “executive orders” – use corrupt judges to “rule” against the Constitution – take control of the monetary system and restrict free trade – seek to eliminate the Electoral College, etc.
When the majority (democracy) rules there will be no individual freedom and collectivism becomes mob rule. Sounds like a Democrat or a neo-con to me.

Remember her famous statement when the Dems won both houses -”We are going to drain the swamp.” The first thing that slapped her in the face was 6 of Obamas picks for Zars positions along with Turbo Timmy. The six had to decline because they hadn’t paid the IRS. Timmy was the only one that could save the country so he blamed it on Turbo Tax Then we had Charlie Rangle who owed $800,000 on foreign investments along with his rat traps in DC. Good Nancy couldn’t get that plug back into that swamp fast enough to stop all the garbage from leaking out.

The Obama administration will hold these small details up as truths that we are avoiding. Their goal is to paint the opposing view in a bad light. This game looks more like endless legal maneuvers with the win being how it influences the voters who are on the fence. Anyone who has lived life for a long enough time notices when facts do not match up. Hopefully those on the fence will notice that what the Obama regime says and what they have done is contradictory. With any luck and enough intestinal fortitude they will choose to remove a president who at the very least doesn’t handle business well.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 9:48am@Encinom – I read the article to which you are referring and it failed to dispel anything D’Souza claimed but rather gave another interpretation of what D’Souza was thinking which is the absence of journalism by a so called journalist. Ferguson continues to write about the movie and plays the “wait and see” approach to how Obama is doing instead of understanding that D’Souza was trying to paint a portrait of Obama by past actions. He calls Obama a moderate and liberal to which he is but those terms are not clearly defined by even liberals since they make up things as they go along by definition. This article was written on the basis of groupthink and failed to acknowledge that D’Souza has made some clear points and went out of his way to make them while Ferguson fails to do any real research in his own mind to dispute these claims. FACT: Obama revered his absentee father…FACT: Obama associated with Frank Marshall Davis (Communist)…FACT: Obama has stated he does not believe the US is more exceptional than other countries…FACT: Obama wants a bigger Muslim influence into the world and so on and so on.
Ferguson apparently doesn’t understand the need to know our direction and what “fundamentally transformation” really is. Ferguson isn’t smart enough to see that the US is changing for the bad while others benefit. Loving our children is not hiding them from the dark side of life; is enlightening them about reality.
It is good for younger generations to see evil, so they know when to avoid it and fight back.

A vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for Obama. Johnson has absolutely no chance at all. This is a democrat and republican battle. Just like all of the Ron Paul people, if you do not vote for the republican then you might as well either stay home and throw your vote in the toilet or vote for Obama. Either way that is what you are doing. I would normally agree with voting for the guy that best supports your beliefs, but this is not the election for that. If this were an election between two similar people, then I could understand, but those of you that say that Obama and Romney are the same are total idiots. There is a HUGE difference between the two and if you DO vote for Johnson then you can blame yourself if Obama gets back in and continues toward socialism unchecked.

We are individuals, not party people. The U.S. has always been great because of this fact. Individual freedom, individual choices, Freedom! Who are you to tell anyone who to vote for? If Americans were to be true to themselves in major elections as this one is, they would be Americans first and put party on the back burner. What if it became apparent that there was no way that Romney could win? What then Einstein? Would you then still cast your vote for him? You can never tell in politics these days what is going to happen. What if some devastating scandal came out? What would you do? I believe that Romney has a very steep climb in order to get elected. I believe what he has done through the election has hurt his chances enormously. We will see in the end, but I will not just blindly say yes I am voting Romney, I will wait and see what transpires, like a responsible voter should. At this point, if he does not get better than he is, I am looking at Gary Johnson.

Apparently she craves the part where MM wanted baby back ribs, wanted to eat minijohnson and especially the part where he cuts the cheese, apparently something Moore does at will especially after eating at his fav high end mex restaurant taco bell (confirmed by a reporter friend that got stuck next to Moore at the dem convention). However, that’s what someone else said, so I really don’t know if it’s true, even though my friend hasn’t been quite the same since the convention.

The theater was full, and those couples/groups who came in late had a tough time finding empty seats where they could sit together. Don’t believe what you are being told about this movie. MANY people are seeing it; a couple of people on this thread want us to believe otherwise. The difference here is I was at the theater and saw it with my own eyes. Those others haven’t been but they like to make up stuff to fit what they want to believe. They go through life with their eyes wide shut and try to convince others to do the same.

I’m not a republican as I feel both parties are at fault and both have issues. I’m also not a huge Romeny supporter either. I don’t feel that he is conservative enough. But the realitiy is that the race will come down to either Obama or Romney. There is no perfect candidate and I doubt there ever will be a candidate that you agree with 100% of everything. What is comes down to is that I pretty much disagree with everything Obama stands for. I do not believe everything Romney stands for but there is less to fight with him.
I’ll say it again, I’m not saying that I like this process – but if you don’t want Obama in office, then you must vote for Romney. Obama does not deserve to be president and will need to get him out. The only way is to support Romney and all concervatives running for congress.

Posted on September 11, 2012 at 10:03pmFG still does not get it,and most likely never will…….with so many layers of obamism,liberalism,schoolism(indoctrination),socialism,hollywoodism,actor/actressism,dncism,when these entities speak and open receptive have built so many layers,that when they hear the truth or facts it’s hard for those facts to get past so many layers….GOD willing enough people have had their eyes opened that we get this danger to AMERICA outta the people’s house……don’t get me wrong the radical,socialist,communist,liberal,leftist.media,print and tv don’t wanna give up power,so it’ll be a close election with dems going out early to vote and to vote often in many many differnt counties,cities……reminds me of a TRUE story and it goes like this,all my uncle’s life he voted R and when he dies he now votes D in every election….any state governor who wants to clean their voter rolls,eric holder steps in to sue those states because it’s a burden for them to get a ID,but if your on the gov’t dole you have to go to the county building to a social services ID card so they can get their benefits…..maybe voting is a benefit of being a CITIZEN

Posted on September 11, 2012 at 9:39pmI read somewhere that Obama is trying to reduce our nuclear arsenal to only 300 nukes. Russia, China, Pakistan, and Iran are building up theirs. If America does fall though I don’t think it will be because of some war against another country. I think America will become so divided that it’ll fall on it’s own..and possibly (but hopefully not) go into a civil war.

That is why we must be vigillant, tell everyone to see this movie, I did and it was well worth it. I already knew some of the information but did find out some new facts. If Obama wins the election, we will not remain a superpower, we will be bankrupt, we will have unrest all over the country. This is what he wants. This way he can rebuilt it the way he thinks it should be which is nothing we will recognize.

I am watching it now, only halfway through and I have to agree – THIS IS MUST-SEE! It’s not really anything that I didn’t already know or at least sense about Obama, but it really puts it all into words and reasons and underlines it all in bold.
If the media were doing their job, Dinesh D’Souza would be recognized by all as a brilliant American hero. Romney should take a chunk of change out of his campaign fund and buy time on the networks to air this in primetime so even the willfully politically ignorant would have no excuse for not knowing what they are voting for.

The movie did not bash Obama but told the story of his life using his own words. At the end of the movie everyone stood up and clapped.
