Democrats Omitted More Than Just ‘God’ and ‘Jerusalem’: See What Else Was Left Out of the Party Platform (And Not Reinstated)

The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) and GOP supporters are slamming the Democratic Party for omitting strong language against Hamas and the Palestinian “right of return” from its 2012 platform, language that was part of the 2008 Democratic platform. This is yet another significant omission — and it was not later fixed — contrary to the party’s reinstating language referring to Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, which TheBlaze reported on last week.

In 2008, the Democratic platform included the statement that Hamas – the group that rules Gaza and which the State Department defines as a terrorist group – must renounce terrorism. The platform then stated:

The United States and its Quartet partners should continue to isolate Hamas until it renounces terrorism, recognizes Israel’s right to exist, and abides by past agreements.

That language is now gone. In fact, the word “Hamas” doesn’t appear at all in the 2012 platform.

Also in 2008, the Democratic platform stated:

The creation of a Palestinian state through final status negotiations, together with an international compensation mechanism, should resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees by allowing them to settle there, rather than in Israel.

The Palestinian Authority under President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas are demanding what they call a “right of return” for Palestinian refugees and all their descendants, that is, a whopping five million people moving into the territory that is today the State of Israel; however, less than 1% — only 30,000 Arabs — actually ever lived in Palestine before 1948 and are still alive today. If five million Palestinians move to Israel, the question is: Where are the Israelis expected to go? The “right of return” implicitly means a destruction of the Jewish state through demography. In 2008, the Democratic platform said the refugees should be settled in a Palestinian state, not in Israel. The 2012 platform is silent on this major point.

Additionally, though the new Democratic platform reiterates President Obama’s commitment to Israel’s security, a line denoting Israel as America’s “strongest ally” is also absent from the 2012 document.

George Birnbaum, former chief of staff to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the changes in the Democratic platform “devastating” for Israel. He told radio host Joe “Pags” Pagliarulo on Monday:

The Democratic Party clearly showed their true colors during the Democrat convention. I mean, the language that came out of the platform committee was the true reflection of what the committed and the party wanted to say with regards to Israel and the Middle East.

In a new print ad campaign running in Jewish newspapers in swing states including Florida and Ohio, the Republican Jewish Committee writes:

The official Democratic Party platform was stripped of key provisions from platforms past. Strong language regarding Jerusalem, Palestinian refugees, and Hamas was all deleted from this year’s platform. Even the line calling Israel America’s “strongest ally” was removed. Amid an outcry from the Jewish community, the Democratic Party tried to quietly reinsert just one section of the purged platform – the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Jews comprise 1.7% of the U.S. population, a small voting pool; however, this latest suggestion that the Democrats’ commitment to Israel has softened could end up having an impact in areas where there is a large Jewish community.

In fact, as Jonathan Tobin points out in Commentary Magazine, the latest Investors Business Daily/Christian Science Monitor/TIPP Poll suggests that Obama may lose up to a quarter of the Jewish vote he secured in 2008, which means he would be securing the lowest number of Jewish votes since Jimmy Carter in 1980.

This is a typical Alinsky type distraction let’s throw several items off the platform and see what we can get away with. Obama then, supposedly, rides to the rescue and inserts God and Jerusalem back in ignoring” hamas and their terrorism” along with the phony “Palestinian right to return” . If we had a true journalistic society that was unbiased and actual journalists these ploys would not get by. Thank God for Glenn Beck.

  Interesting to note that while Romney’s campaign openly states that their parties platform is not necessary the candidates views or consistent with his policy stances, conservatives blogs and ideologues accept that as reasonable. But not surprisingly, application of the same context to the Democratic platform is beyond their mental capacity. To say these reports are biased and representative of an individual who can’t see past their ethnic and religious ideals is too be exceedingly gracious.

  @jrook – there is a huge difference. Mitt Romney JUST became the nominee, and the platform was written before he was anywhere near being named. Whereas obama has been the head of the democrats for 4 years. I can understand you not knowing that, however, given how lousy he is at actually “leading”. Regardless, the platform should be the responsibility of the head of the party and if necessary, change to reflect the beliefs of it’s head. ~

  This is not surprising as it has now being reported that our president does not attend many of the intelligence briefings that are done to keep the president informed about events he needs to know to do his job. This proves that in light of what he and his party did at their convention that that have no intelligence and that democrats are unteachable and refuse to accept anything that does not support their Marxist worldview. We are in serious trouble and at least 43% of us nationally are so willfully ignorant, lazy or stupid that their own enslavement is ok with them.

There is a famous story in Minnesota about a guy who submitted his house plans to the bank for financing. On an early page he put a couple obvious errors which the bank caught. He then asked is there any thing else needed before the financing is approved. The bank said no. He fixed the obvious errors and got the financing.

When the bank inspector came to the work site a earth home was being built. That information was many pages later in the plans. Had the bank taken the time for a complete review of the drawing they would not have financed the first earth home in Minnesota, near County Road J and I35E

It seems the same deception still works.

  I used to do this with reports when my boss wanted to review them. I’d put a few easy to find mistakes for him to find so he didn’t spend hours and hours nitpicking the damn thing to death.

  Yes, we are all those things and more. But, if we think merely declaring such truths on paper will change the course that America is on, then we are all for a very rude awakening. What, exactly, are we going to do to change what is happening before our very eyes? Are we waiting for the November elections? What if Obama is elected again? What then? Will we sit in the shadows, tweeting and FBing anonomously, hoping that somehow if enough people read our words our country will magically be tranformed back to its original Constitutional Republic. The only thing that scares me more than all the Occupy Wall Street thugs, the Communist Union Thugs, the Socialist/Marxist/Communist news media, the Muslim/Socialist/Marxist/Communist (pick your poison) POS in the White House, is the silence of conservative and religious Americans.   The nexus between the Left and Islam is in their view of property rights. Both progressives and normative Islam consider property to be the possession of the collective. The Left sees property as being under the control of the government, Islam sees property as belonging to the Islamic Uma (community) and developed and held in trust for it by individuals. Since our Republic is founded on the Judeo-Christian tradition of private property rights, Islam and the Left have strong common ground in an area that can destroy the Republic if their view of property rights replace the constitution’s. The Jews as a group have always been life-long Democrats. They deeply sympathized with the Civil Rights Movement, and the actions of President Kennedy. Many Jews saw similarities in the plight of black people in the Jim Crow South and their own story.

  I have to go back past JFK to give a little history! First of all the democratic party was always against civil rights, the KKK, and all the Jim Crow laws were from the Democrat party. One of the reasons that JFK “pushed” for for civil rights is this, When Martin Luther King was in jail big death threats were coming to him for the murder of his son. He begged JFK to help him and promised him 10 million votes if he helped. Yes, LBJ signed the civil rights law, but all you have to do is check up on LBJ how very racist he really was! JFK really did not want to get involved in civil rights! All through history until that point, republicans have always been champions against slavery and for civil rights and still are. All I can say is RUN from the democratic party you see today, because it is not what you think! If you are Jewish, black, a woman, minority, through you the the Democrat party is using you!

Israel is the homeland of the Jews, not the Palestinians. Do the research.
Israel is surrounded by Arab countries which could offer the Palestinians a measure of property for their homeland. It would take a small fraction of their property to do so. If they love the Palestinians so much, let Egypt and other Arab countries offer them a homeland.

The Jewish vote may be minimal to the party but the influence is vast. This reminds me of the German Jews who buried their heads in the sand till it was too late.   The Jews have not always been Marxist Socialists. That only started when Jews sought freedom from oppression by their Gentile neighbors. Being a Marxist requires a Jew to dismiss most of what Judaism teaches. And if you look at normative, observant Jews, anywhere in the world, surprise! – you will see that they tend to be right-wing conservatives and about as anti-Marxist as possible.   3. I would then vote to still nuke Old Israel, but will compromise for a good lecturing. Please have Netanyahu do this with Chris Christy as lead-in.
  Results: Old Israel would have the largest Mexican minority population in the Middle East and growing, and California would be debt free and running a surplus in 5 years.

It’s getting harder and harder not to believe that the far left faction of the Democrat party is indeed Godless. They remove God and Israel from the platform as well as any mention of Jerusalem. What reminds us more of God and Jesus’ time than Jerusalem? We are in troubled times for sure.

Obama and his party have insulted and turned their backs on our friends and allies. Then the welcome and embrace radicals such as the Muslim brotherhood, union bosses, blk panthers, occupy monkeys,code pink, Bill Ayers, ACaORN and creepy hollywood freeks. I’m sure I forgot a few…Sorros. The elections can’t come soon enough! Get rid of the socialist in the White House! I weep for our beautiful nation.

Romney should focus on these with the Jewish community; let them see how bad another term with Obama will be for Israel; we know of his loathing for that nation, and Obama will love nothing more than to see it eradicated.

The Democrats have outed themselves. No God, no Jerusalem on their platform. No reproof of terrorist organization Hamas.

B. Netanyahu and the Israelis are well aware that Obama and his supporters are no friend of Israel.
I sincerely hope that the majority of Americans are awake to the fact that Obama is no friend of America either.

  The DNC booing God and Jerusalem, and the ensuing controversy, got some good national airtime. It would be impossible for Dems to hide something like that happening at their own convention.
  
  Whether the “moderate” voters, the uninformed and indifferent, will learn the Dems officially declassified Israel as our strongest ally before Nov – oh well! I’m not sure they’ll be a factor in the election anyway, as they’re not likely voters…

Any Jew who votes for Obama or any of his radical leftists is as big a fool as those who voted for the Nazi Party in 1932. Obama is no friend of Israel and he is no friend of the American Jew so go right ahead and submit to your inner leftist ideological whims and vote for the biggest danger to Jews since Adolph HItler.
