The Incredible, Unlikely Story of a Boy Being Reunited With His Stuffed Monkey That Will Likely Make You Cry

A touching, somewhat miracle of a story has been making its rounds on the Internet since last week. It’s the story of Liam and his blue stuffed monkey named “Ah-ah,” who after going missing for three years was found on eBay and reunited with his rightful owner. Naturally, the reunion was filmed and has since been put on YouTube.

For many a child’s stuffed animal or favored blanket, it is a heartbreaking turn of events when these items are lost, but it’s a relatively common occurrence as they’re taken on every adventure the youngster embarks upon. For Liam from Omaha, Neb., Ah-ah was a faithful companion, traveling from home to grandparents to preschool and, on one fateful trip, to the Rocky Mountains. It was there where Liam and Ah-ah were separated.

Liam’s father, in a video posted on YouTube, writes that his son was “absolutely devastated.” Like many parents have done over the years in an effort to recover lost items, Liam’s parents called all the stops in search for the blue monkey — nothing turned up.

At this point, parents would generally give up or try to assuage the pain with a replacement. Liam’s mom kept looking though, and it paid off. The video explains that while searching eBay for a viola for her daughter, Liam’s mom on instinct searched for “blue monkey.”

HyperVocal, the first to pick up the story, reports the mother found Ah-ah listed on the site (see below) from a seller in Florida with the store named Lost Loves Toy Chest.

Amazed at finding such a similar blue monkey, the mom bought the stuffed animal thinking she had finally found a decent replacement three years later for her son.

Thanks to tell-tale marks on the monkey when it arrived, the family knew it wasn’t just a replacement.

Watch the reunion of the well-loved stuffed animal for yourself (Note: Actual reunion starts at 1:50):

Liam’s mother can barely hold it together herself as she starts reminding her son of the Ah-ah’s characteristics — how he cut the tag off when he was little. She begins to choke up at this point and starts crying when she says “He came in the mail today.”

The New York Daily News contacted the owner of Loves Lost Toy Chest, Tammy Stavely, who said “I’m just happy that they found it.”

“I’m so glad that I could help,” Stavely continued, according to the New York Daily News. “I’ve been in that position and I know that that item is basically priceless, you can’t sleep, the kid’s crying.”

HyperVocal reports speaking with Liam’s father who said his son is a bit embarrassed from all the attention his story has received, but the family would like to “turn all this positive attention into something good.” HyperVocal states the father suggests if people are touched by Liam’s reunion, they donate to MyCharityWater.org.

Another way to look at it is that Ah-ah was being held hostage for $29,99. Cute story! A miracle, for sure!

      CUTE?

This boy’s mother turned him into a big sissy. His mother must be a latent homosexual. The boy will make a good Gay Marine. Do you think a kid in Iraq, Iran, China, Russia, or North Korea would behave like this? I am still puking my guts into a brown paper shopping bag as I type this.

What kind of kids are they bringing up these days? When I was this kids age I was pushing a lawn mower and didn’t carry-on like that when my dog died. Mom should have the doctor check to see if his nuts have dropped.

Look at this Blazer’s most men on this site think this is ridiculous most women think it’s sweet. This is why the Bible calls for women to be submissive, because men think with their heads while women think with their hearts.

@PHINEASJWHOOPEE and all the other jackwagons out there claiming this mom “set back” her kid or “turned him gay”… I used to think The Blaze was a place for people who were mature and responsible conservatives, not emotionally stunted morons who have forgotten what it’s like to be a child. For a child, sometimes the most trivial things hold special meanings, be it a blue monkey, a favorite pillow or even a beat up old nickel. PHINEAS, if you had a dog for several years and didn’t cry at it’s loss, see a doctor. You’re emotionally stunted and hiding it behind the supposed fact you have testicles. That alone makes you male, but certainly not a man. A man could understand the emotional attachment a child has to a favorite possession. Thank God his mother kept looking. The boy will, as most boys do, outgrow the monkey in a year or two more. But if he saves it in a box into his adult years it will bring him fond memories, one of which was how much his mother cared and kept looking for that monkey. No matter what future doubts he may have about his mother’s love, that monkey will remind him of the depth of her love and how important his happiness was to her. The macho types here can go fondle their power tools and pretend they’re men.

I’m syical and hateful. I blame living nearly four years under an Obama administration, but I’d have paid a grand for those two Pugs to tear that blue monkey to shreds…

If that kids doesn’t grow up whistling show tunes on Fire Island I’ll be shocked.

      Niferno are you a woman?

Boys need to grow up to be tough men so they can do hard work and be mentally tough to make difficult decisions. How do you raise a boy to be tough? Do you coddle him until he’s 18 and then expect him to one day miracously turn into a man? Or do you slowly become tougher and tougher on him until he is 18 and he acts like a man? It’s tough for women to do this that’s why I asked if you are a woman.

What are the odds of this? What would have made his mom decide to look, after 3 years, for a blue monkey at that exact moment he was on there? It has to be more than just coincidence. You’re talking about astronomical odds that can’t be explained as just chance.

      Freedom,

You need an emotional enema! God has created us with emotion, just as He displays emotion in the Scriptures. The difference between a man and a woman is that a man can more easily stuff his emotion in a little box to stand up and do the difficult things he has to do, like war, work, and sacrificing for his family.

However, God gave us relationships and the tenderness of woman to make us human again after we have had to do the difficult things in life. This young man expressing his heart is not effeminate, it is a part of learning how to manage the heart. When he is a man, his wife and daughters will be glad he has a tender side, even though he can be strong for them to work for them and protect them as well. Something you should learn or your family will suffer from your cold, closed heart.

One emotion does not define the whole person, we are much deeper than that. Step out of the shallows, kid, God gave you a bigger heart than you are displaying here.

Freedomoverfear………Wow! What a diatribe against me and all women because we can shed a tear over a tender moment.
Of course I don’t know what caused your dislike for women but trust me when the tough need to get going women are always there. Do you think all of the real men in the world were raised by only men? No, they had Mothers. Mothers who could be tender but also strong. I was a strong Mother as was my Mother and her Mother before her.
You should be grateful for us………the strong and tender women.
