GoPro Cam Captures Stunning Footage of Motorcyclist Being Thrown Through the Air During Accident
Last month, TheBlaze brought you the GoPro camera footage from a motorcycle-deer collision from which both parties were able to walk away relatively unscathed. Now, a GoPro has captured the bike point-of-view footage of another crash from a fellow motorcyclist on a group ride — this time the cyclist in the accident was not so lucky.
The camera mounted on another motorcyclist’s bike shows a fellow rider crashing violently into a trailer, smashing his bike and flying through the air.

According to the description of the video posted on YouTube, the motorcyclist was air lifted to the hospital with a broken arm and leg.

Here’s the full YouTube footage:
The person who posted this video said he had not met the man in the accident prior to the group ride. The GoPro was mounted on his Ducati 848 Evo. The man who hit the trailer was riding a ZX-10.
“As I was slowing down he was still going fast and said he never saw the trailer,” the YouTube user drramascrr wrote.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 12:05pmThe first thing I observed was the bike that crashed is a sport bike. The second thing I noticed is that the rider of the red sport bike is sitting straight up, and his/her front tire is fully loaded with the force of the bike (forced down, heavy front braking). You cannot steer a bike with the front brakes applied this hard. Notice the Rider is not looking to the left for a hole and but is looking straight ahead, preparing for an impact. Basically this is an inexperienced rider.
I have ridden motorcycles for over 30 years. The only time was involved in an accident is when I was young and inexperienced. I have ridden every type of motorcycle made since the 1960s. The sport bikes of today command a skill set which is second to none. They are fast, accelerate quickly, and have braking and cornering characters which far exceed any cruiser or older road bike. For those reasons, inexperienced riders become over confidant and get into situations like this one. It’s a blessing that this person lived through this event. On cold days when they are older, that broken collar bone will remind he/she …. Don’t ride stupid. The roadway is not a racetrack and you are not Kenney Roberts racing Grand Prix.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 11:50amEvery time, and I do mean every time, I think of buying a bike, this kind of thing happens. I’m an atheist. There is no way that someone or something is trying to warn me about something. Right? it’s getting weird and I can’t explain it. Last year, I was on my way to the Motosport store to look at a 400cc. I had to detour due to some unexpected road work. Half way there, I drove by a bike accident. I went home. Maybe there’s just lots of accidents, but the coincidences are getting constant. Strange.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 10:09amHopefully, all my crashing was done when riding and racing ditt bikes back when my body bounced off the ground better. I bought ,my first street bike in the late Spring of 2008, figuring, after the destructive election, that I better buy a,—-
“Harley-Davisdon, grab a fist full of America while you (I) still can.”
progressive Snyder (Mich. Gov.) threw bikers a bone and repealed the helmet law, which I enjoy, but a progressive will never get my vote,—-accept romney this time.
I like to tell concerned people who feel the need to express their concern to me as I experience some helmet less freedom, “As long as I stay away from Liberals, I am perfectly safe.” But my true rule of thumb is, I try to stay away from everybody. I figure I can’t get hit, if nobody is around me.
I see bikers doing things I instinctively would not do. IMO, not paying attention, going fast, pushing your skill limits, and not staying away from others are sure ways of getting hurt. I only follow a car if in deer country.
My racing days are probably over. My Harley is just my “noisey azz lawn chair”. and I want to be left—-alone.
Yes, my pipes are pretty loud, but I don’t have them to tick off my neighbors (and even “coast in” with engine stopped, if late). I just say I am insecure, and want attention at the intersections. :)
That guy was not paying attention. A broken arm and leg will heal while we still have decient health care. I am glad it was not worse. Kee

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 9:36amIt’s been a while since I looked but I believe the statistics show that the top 2 contributors to motorcycle fatalities are speed and alcohol which is probably the same for autos. I seem to notice there are two kinds of riders – those who check their speed and watch closely when potential danger presents itself and those who twist the throttle. It would be interesting to know how many Silver Wings type rides are involved in fatal crashes. All I know is most of the dangerous behavior I see on the road are riders on crotch rockets. It’s not the crotch rocket’s fault though.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 10:18amI would not wear one. But government can mandate it, put it into production with 100% tax payer paid factories and union “workers”, never to make a actual profit, but to suck more money out of tax payers trying to live their lives.
Life is not worth living with out calculating your own risks, and is not worth living to me in forced poverty.
Don’t give the communists any ideas. If it wastes our money, and limits Individual freedom more, they would do it.
Liberals are good hearted Americans, but please—don’t concern yourself any more than your own driving habits.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 6:48amIMHO, I have NEVER seen a rider on a croutch rocket running slower than warp speed. You can’t cure stupid. I am not impressed that your death machine runs faster than sound.
I’ll stick to my just converted trike. Old age and arthritis takes it’s toal on the human body.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 6:01amOver the years I have grown to despise motor cycle riders, which is ironic, since one of my childhood heroes was Evil Knievel, the stunt man. I know that not all riders are @$$ holes, but so many are, that it stigmatizes the rest. I have witnessed so many cases of wreckless riding and racing on highways and streets, that it just does not make sense. Yet many of these same people try to make themselves out to be victims of other vehicle drivers when a crash occurs. I would urge those who choose to ride dangerously to change their ways or to ride off road so that they only injure themselves, and not put others in danger.

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 2:42amLast night cruising home at 65 MPH on my BMW K1100LT I was passed on CA-15 southbound by a crotch rocket rider doing a wheelie. When he finally came back down onto 2 wheels he/she opened it up and hit 90+ in just a couple of seconds. I would have loved to have gone ‘in pursuit’, but those days are gratefully behind me. I once chased a crotch rocket in a Dodge 440 Police Special and it took a few miles to lose sight of him when I received the call of ‘motorcycle accident, rider down’. Yup, same bike I was chasing. The physics of bodies in motion in a straight line remaining in motion is definitely a law and not theory. Rotch Krocket went to the hospital, his crushed bike went to impound, and I celebrated with a donut as the CHP handled the accident paperwork. One of my better nights. Moral of this story: idiots come in all shapes and drive cars and ride motorcycles of all sizes. Remember: motorcycles don’t rear-end trailers, morons who try to shoot the gap between two slower motorcycles slowing for that same trailer rear end trailers they don’t see.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 11:43pmNot much I can say nice about motorcycles. No matter how safe YOU are driving you can’t defend yourself against hit and run drunk drivers. As a passenger, was hit and thrown and lost my left leg below the knee with my 6th ride on a Honda Goldwing. Ain’t no way biking is that much fun to risk so much. My orthopedic surgeon calls them murder cycles or donor cycles. Enough said.
