TheBlaze TV Celebrates One-Year Anniversary With Beck’s Return to Traditional TV and DISH Network Launch
Continuing on an upward trajectory, Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of TheBlazeTV– formerly GBTV — with a significant expansion into the world of satellite television. Partnering with DISH Network, Glenn Beck’s online 24-hour news, information and entertainment network will now be available on television exclusively on DISH, joining a host of channels including MSNBC, BBC America, CNN, Current, Comedy Central and FOX News.
After launching exactly one year ago, TheBlazeTV rapidly grew into one of the world’s most subscribed-to online streaming networks. TheBlazeTV will be available to DISH viewers on channel 212 as part of DISH’s America’s Top 250 package or a la carte for $5 a month. The channel launches on Wednesday, September 12, at 5 p.m. EDT.
TheBlaze and its host of established and emerging talent including Andrew Wilkow, S.E. Cupp, Buck Sexton and Will Cain, will offer its programming as a free preview for all DISH customers through Sept. 26.
Of course, TheBlazeTV will continue to be available online at TheBlaze.com, where on-demand programs can be accessed with the click of a mouse.
“After being phenomenally successful with his online streaming network, we’re pleased to host Glenn Beck’s return to broadcast TV, especially during this exciting and important political season,” said DISH CEO and President Joseph Clayton in an official press release. “With Glenn’s return, DISH is truly the one stop for news, opinion and perspective across the full political spectrum.”
Excited for the future, Beck added, “TheBlaze has helped revolutionize television over the Internet and now we are excited to bring the revolution back to traditional television.”
“TheBlaze will be home to news, information and entertainment programming with the facts and stories people care about most and we look forward to kicking things off with DISH.”
Christopher Balfe, CEO of TheBlaze also weighed in, stating that the goal of the company was to “deliver TV over the Internet, not Internet TV.”
“Twelve months later, we’ve succeeded beyond our wildest imagination with content that built one of the world’s largest subscription streaming networks,” he added.
The line-up of programs will continue to grow, as well as feature all of the familiar faces people from around the world have come to know — from The Glenn Beck Program to Liberty TreeHouse, Real News From TheBlaze, to a brand new program hosted by Andrew Wilkow.
What’s more, TheBlaze.com concluded August with its best month ever, hosting over 9 million unique visitors and is led by a formidable team of media veterans including: President and CCO Joel Cheatwood, formerly a Senior Vice President at FoxNews and CNN, President and Chief Revenue Officer Kraig Kitchin who co-founded Premiere Radio Networks, and Betsy Morgan, President & Chief Strategy Officer who formerly served as CEO of The Huffington Post and as a Senior Vice President at CBS News.
TheBlazeTV can now be found on DISH channel 212

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 9:09amThis sucks. Dish people had 24 hour service starting at midnight. But I pay 9.95 a month and get six hours of programing?
What happened to “the network you built”?

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 9:06amYIPPEEEE!!!!! My family has been scolding me for months for not switching to U-verse because every time it storms, we lose reception until the storm passes. I KNEW there was a reason why I was holding out. Can’t wait to get home from work to add it to my channel line-up. THANKS, GLENN!!! Now I have something else to watch when Shepard Smith and Geraldo Rivera are on Fox. You may even talk me into giving up Bill “Mr. Ego” O’Reilly. . . .but never Hannity!

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 9:04amWay to go Beck and staff!
I still laugh at all the cheering that happened back when Glenn left Fox, folks said he was gone, done, and over with. That “they” had won. There is gonna be some real b*$#!ing and whining when this happens. (and I’m going to laugh again)

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:55amI’m not a dish fan – my Roku works fairly well, but more power to Glenn for yet another avenue to give access to the unenlightened! Glenn presents thoroughly researched and vetted information that no other media outlets have the cojones to broadcast. My biggest wish would be to be able to share critical information with nonsubscribers.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:53amglenn watch your commerials… the radio station that I listen to your program on keeps playing those blips regarding community safety like the one on food poisioning… “almost 3,000 people will die of food poisonig this year.. it goes on to say that 1 in 6 of the popuation will becme sick”… well 1 n 6 is equal to 52,130,161,,, which means 1 person will die out of 14,000. these commercials have no value other than to control you….

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:51amI’ve been a Beck subscriber for a long time, way before GBTV started, so I’m not at all surprised to see how quickly it has taken off and grown. TheBlaze TV provides the best news content anywhere! So, of course, DISH wants it. They would be crazy not to. Congratulations to Mr. Beck and the team at TheBlaze. Your hard work will, no doubt, continue to be rewarded.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:47amThis is great news for consumers of Dish Network! We are DirecTV consumers. For quiet sometime we have considered switching to Dish. But, life always gets in the way. Now, we may have the reason to make it happen. I wish Glenn Beck and his staff all the best, and I will continue to watch on ROKU and listen to my podcasts everyday!

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:44amI have been with GBTV from day one. Can you imagine our country today, without it? You have made network TV irrelevant. For 50 years, we have searched for someone to talk to us. They would have to pry GBTV, “from my cold dead hands.” Glenn, my son and I pray for your family, your staff, and your success. Blow the networks away. We are with you. Thank you for saving our country. P.S. wish I was there when the lady was yelling in Alaska! God Bless.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:44amI don’t subscribe to Dish TV, so this will not affect me. I was thinking the big announcement was that the company was going public and stock would be available for purchase with the first offering going to his subscribers.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:33amWell, isnt this interesting?
Hey Glenn and Co., will you be wise enough to give the Judge his own show again?
How about financial/economic news with Peter Schiff?
A TV platform could certainly repair some alliances torn asunder during this election cycle. The Constitutional movement has certainly suffered from these contrived schisms. It should become obvious the divisions created haven’t helped anything, its possibly made things worse.
We’ll never agree on everything, and shouldn’t. However, its vitally important that the things we DO agree on – go forward.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 11:46amI would not be at all surprised to see “The Judge” coming to The Blaze TV very soon. I have thought for some time that once his contract with FOX expired, he would come to Glenn.
I also wouldn’t be surprised to see some of Reason’s commentators find their way to Glenn too!

I sincerely hope you are right – and I hope Glenn gives them the same independence he’s had.
If Reason got a spot, even just an hour a week – I’d be ecstatic.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:27amThe real problem – this is not on the basic packages such as FOXNEWS / cnn / msnbc and the others..It is on a premium package or alone for 5 dollars..
It’s not about news, it’s about dollars for both..
I am and have been a Beck fan since he started..

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:44amlol that’s ok – if it were Time Warner it would be on channel 2,268 and you’d need to pay for digital cable and an entire extra tier.
Either way, you could always just stick to the internet.

Posted on September 12, 2012 at 8:24amLol, we just canceled Dish and are sending the receivers back in. It’s a good move on Dish’s part but after having Roku & TheBlaze I couldn’t bear having to wait for a particular time for the programs to come on. Yes, I know you can DVR it but I am spoiled by just scrolling through a menu and selecting what I want. Kick in AmazonPrime and Hulu(not as much) plus all the free channels and there is just no way I’m going back to any other method unless OBO hits the internet kill switch.
The 9 million unique viewers last month thing was interesting though. Assuming that those are all single accounts (not as we do, my dad watches on one Roku while I watch on another in the next room) and assuming that give benefit of a doubt and say only 3 million of those are paying accounts…. Then the blaze is hitting 30 mil a month in profit (before expenses of course which are most likely huge). I understand that it’s going back on Dish as a channel to reach those people still in the void but I still think the internet version is still going to kick satellite’s “butt” in viewers.
P.S.
Glenn, if there is one new show you need it’s David Barton hosting his own show. Even if it was just him rambling random thoughts without context it would blow most people’s minds.
