‘Death to America!’: U.S. Embassy In Yemen Overrun, More Riots In Egypt

UPDATE:

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Chanting “death to America,” hundreds of protesters angered by an anti-Islam film stormed the U.S. Embassy compound in Yemen’s capital and burned the American flag on Thursday, the latest in a series of attacks on American diplomatic missions in the Middle East.

American missions have been attacked in three Arab nations – Yemen, Egypt and Libya – that have faced persistent unrest and are struggling to restore law and order after last year’s revolts deposed their authoritarian regimes.

A Yemeni protestor, center, destroys an American flag pulled down as other hold a banner in Arabic that reads, "any one but you God's prophet" at the U.S. Embassy compound during a protest about a film ridiculing Islam's Prophet Muhammad, in Sanaa, Yemen, Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012. Protesters smashed windows as they breached the embassy perimeter and reached the compound grounds, although they did not enter the main building housing the offices. Angry young men brought down the U.S. flag in the courtyard, burned it and replaced it with a black banner bearing Islam’s declaration of faith – “There is no God but Allah.”

Yemeni security forces who rushed to the scene fired in the air and used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, driving them out of the compound after about 45 minutes and sealing off the surrounding streets. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was inside the embassy at the time of the attack.

Demonstrators removed the embassy’s sign on the outer wall, set tires ablaze and pelted the compound with rocks.

The Yemeni Embassy in Washington condemned the attack and vowed to ensure the safety of foreign diplomats and to step up security measures around their missions in the country.

Just a day after we learned of the deadly attack on the US embassy in Benghazi, Libya, violence is breaking out at American diplomatic compounds across the region.

According to a CNN report, hundreds of unarmed protesters have gathered at the US Embassy in Sanaa, Yemen are trying to scale the walls outside of the complex. The CNN coverage states:

  • Approximately 1000 Yemeni security forces are outside the embassy walls
  • Yemen’s Interior Minster has warned that any violence by protesters will be met with force from Yemeni police
  • Warning shots have been fired into the air, but not at the protesters
  • Protests are expected to wane this afternoon, only to return on Friday (mass protests on Friday have been called for in Egypt and Libya as well)

As Yemeni security forces are claiming to have the situation at Sanaa under control, tensions in Egypt appear to be either holding at the same level or possibly increasing.

NBC’s Richard Engel reported from the streets of Cairo last night and talked at length about the efforts of Egypt’s new president Muhammed Morsi to “butter both sides of the bread” as he attempts to keep the Egyptian people from attacking the American embassy while allowing them to protest. Engel’s report included a few statements about the new president that many Americans might find alarming:

  • “His heart and his politics are with the people who are on the streets, with the people who are offended by this ridiculous video.”
  • “Already today, Morsi, the president, asked the embassy in Washington to file a lawsuit against the director of this ridiculous movie.”
  • “He is against the movie, which I can understand, he’s trying to play that populist card a little bit, so he doesn’t want to crush these demonstrations too much.”
  • “He’s not going to go out on television and say, ‘what you’re doing is wrong’
  • “This is the kind of guy, who before he became president, would likely have been out doing this kind of demonstration.”

TheBlaze will update the stories from the American embassies as information becomes available. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Cairo and especially Libya should have warned the protesters (which they are not protesters) they have 3 minutes to clear the area, and then start tossing grenades. Dead serious. 30 seconds would be more than they deserved. Shot on sight was appropriate and legal. Obama should say it. He should point this out. It’s HIS crisis that HE engineered. Obama has so devastated our intelligence gathering that FACEBOOK is a safe place for terrorists to openly scheme for weeks and still evade obama’s intelligence.

At this point don’t insult Carter like that, he was a much better president. BO makes Carter look like a competent leader with a good handle on domestic issues and foriegn policy. Maybe BO will get to re-write history, making Carter the second worst president in our history!
The whole thing right now is getting a little weird with BO recycling speeches and now crises in the Middle East.

But remember, Carter was just grossly unqualified, inept and useless as President. He has however, moved farther into the role of weird, creepy America hating traitor over the years. So it will remain to be seen who will come out worse. But you’re probably right. Having a Communist Muslim traitor probably trumps Carter.

One question for Dear Leader and crew.

What happened? We thought that you had all the answers, you cabinet picks to be brilliant, thoughtful, would show a new America to the peoples of the world, that we would end an era where America was hated and would be once again loved by all. What happened? Your clearly educated and so is your administration, you’ve got the best working for you including Ms. Clinton who is one of the most brilliant in your administration. What happened? This should not be happening because you clearly had a plan that would elevate the situation we faced in the world to a new and fresh chapter. What happened Mr. President? What went wrong with your plans, goals, kind words to those who want to do us harm only because we are arrogant and oppress others.

Mr. President may I say to ya, you are the new Neville Chamberlain. You have the arrogance of the Kennedys who nearly got us nuked by the Russians. These were your people Mr. President that you sent to their deaths. You did not protect them because you wanted to show the formerly oppressed that we are friendly and only want peace, dialog, will help their people with funding projects and educating their young.

You fight against what is logical to replace it with what took hundreds of years to understand by the American people, that tyrants exist and so do evil men. If we want to remain free, we must never forget or let our guard down in favor of peace until our enemies do the same.

There are so many people involved behind the shadows in all this, it’s hard to say what is what. Good Grief, has anyone seen the film? It was clearly made by Ed Wood on a BAD day. It was shown once and had one person seeing it. If wasn’t for all this violence noone would ever have known about it. The film and the violence were just a coincidence. But it gives the administration the very out it needs to blame America for this violence.

The big picture of what we are looking at here hasn’t been mentioned by anyone, including the media, why isn’t it obvious that Al-Qaeda/Salafists/Saudis have a new strategy? Blame the terrorist attacks on the worst thing about Muhammad they can find on the internet. No Muslims will oppose it.

    Hello?

A new weapon in the War on Terror. They are learning. Don‘t say it’s because of etherial things like the number of troops in Saudi Arabia, no one cares. Like they don’t care the Pagan Alawites are butchering the Muslims in Syria. (And it’s the same exact Al-Qaeda/Salafists/Saudis that killed the Ambassador there fighting the Alawites in Syria.)

The new weapons is they blame it on slander of Muhammad, and it’s very very difficult for what passes for moderates in Islam to oppose it.

We’re going to see a lot more of this, there’s plenty more about Muhammad out there on the net. A powerful new weapon, too bad the government, and everyone else, seems clueless that’s what’s going on.

Haven’t we been bombing the crap out of Yemen? I mean if you want to talk about acts of war and whatnot, who started that one? We have killed civilians in Yemen with drones. If China flew drones into the US and blew up some of their political dissidents and happened to take out a few of us along the way you suppose we might be a bit cheesed off about it?

Or are sovereign nations supposed to smile and take whatever crap sandwich we hand them much like we all do at the airport? Is that it? If the rest of the world were the sheep that we are then this would all work out right? It’s like the frog and the scorpion crossing the river. The scorpion asks for a ride on the frog to which the frog says “no way, you’ll sting me”. The scorpion says “why would I do that? It would kill me too.” So the frog agrees and about half way over the scorpion stings the frog. The frog says “why did you do that, you’ve killed us both?” And the scorpion replies “It’s in my nature.”

In all seriousness, pull our funding, our military our sons and daughter home. Why we need to funnel our tax dollars and the blood of our children into 7th century strongholds is beyond me. There is no changing these people. They aren’t going to see the light and they are who they are. Why give the scorpion a ride? Let them rot.

No we have not been “bombing the crap out of Yemen.” We have been surgically attempting to strike only known targets. Time for that to end.

Anyone notice that we haven’t won a war since we began trying to fight by “winning the hearts and minds of the people”? That is not the way to fight or win a war. We need to send a HUGE message to these cockroaches that for every one American they kill, thousands of them will die. If we demonstrate for even one day that we are willing to kill thousands, our need to do so will end almost immediately.

It is a shame that our leaders (and not JUST Obama) have forgotten the “carry a big stick” portion of diplomacy.

Typical procedure drone procedure is to put it up in the air & look for people.

Let’s say you see a produce market where women are shopping for food & you also see a technical (pick up tuck with a heavy machine gun being driven by terrorists.

Well of course the smart choice is to blow up the market.

I think the community organizer was organizng/directing. And the ‘mistake’ was that no one was supposed to die in the original plan.

I cannot get the pic of Mr. and Mrs walking into the Petagon 9/11.. only saw their backs.. at the time I felt their solemness was phony. I think maybe the were overacting because they knew the chicken’s were coming home to roost.. AGAIN.

This is so blatantly obvious. This is a concerted, orchestrated, planned attack by the Muslim Brotherhood to coincide with 9/11.

We have a potus who has presented himself as a rock star and has been on a perpetual course of campaigning, since 2008. abc, cbs, nbc, msnbc etc are sleeping with the enemy and have prostituted themselves and betrayed America. They have blood on their hands by concealing “truth” from Americans by furthering “the end justifies the means” alinsky agenda.

This has nothing to do with the film and my intuition is that this “film” was created by the islamic muslim brotherhood extremist to appear as if a Jewish director created it to advance and justify their hate for Israel. Regardless, these people hate Americans, Christians, the West. Their main objective is to wipe us and Israel, off the face of the earth.

The potus is supposed to protect us from all enemy’s; domestic and foreign. Instead, he has thrown us into the lions den by refusing to denounce this insanity, embracing these people by extending an olive branch to them. Refusing to protect our borders while thousands of jihadist cross our borders is another indication that he has a callous disregard to protect and defend.

The Muslim Brotherhood is their primary competition. The most extreme Muslim Brotherhood is less extrme than the Salafists.

Obama has done great job of making people think he is someone other than who he really is. The real Obama is the opposite of what he portrays.
He bumbles and stutters to make you think he is just a regular good guy who can’t get the words out
Staged for effect .. works every time.
He hangs out with stars because he knows he is even more important than they are and they adore HIM. Buffoons.. all of them.
They/we are being played by the ultimate CO
He is a conniving, deceitful man with a big chip who is acting out his deire to get back at America.

      for ex.
OK.. he is saying we have to wait to see how the MB treats Israel? what? They have already said they want to wipe Israel out.
Maybe he should be dragged kicking and screaming to the security briefings so he will know what we know. There is a reason he abstains.. would he give himself away?
      HA
I’m not fooled.. you are not fooled.. and I can tell that many pundits wonder what he is really doing.. but they cannot say it.

No, she is not from this planet. People like Maddow are the new Democratic Party. This party will destroy America. They see nothing wrong with the Muslim Brotherhood. They invite it leader to the White House for a party. What most of the American people dont understand is that the Muslim Brotherhood was the precursor to Al-Qaida and they share the same values. The Muslim Brotherhood has become an arm of today’s Democratic Party and people like Maddow have accepted them with open arms. Americans need to wake up or we will see more and more of these attacks, possibly even here at home. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

Don’t shoot the messenger, folks, but Stevens was part of the problem. He slipped into Libya to help the “freedom fighters” carry out their revolution. He was Hussein’s envoy to the “rebels.”

I’m sorry, but I’m fed up with liberals. All those responsible for this horrific outcome are/were either liberals or Islamists. The Hussein gang will not release info on the other two victims, and I wonder why. Are they really dead, or were they taken hostage? It appears they were marines sent to help Stevens. Very strange. I grieve for those marines and for our country, which has been defiled. I’m sorry, call me callous, but my tears for Islamist sympathizers have run dry.

And, in case you haven’t yet heard, Ambassador Stevens was raped by these unholy subhumans before he was tortured and smothered.

Cosying up to these brutish villians is like trying to sweet-talk a viper, Mr Obama. What will it take before you see these vicious, conscienceless, animals for what they really are?

Make no mistake about it. Obama DOES see them for what they are. They’re his kind of people. Although he’s effectively working hard to destroy this country from within, there’s no doubt that, deep down, he’d love to be an enthusiastic rioter in the midst of those mobs.

This is round two of the embassy actions; by the extremists showing how vulnerable our nation is under Obama and his absolute nightmare of supporting the Arab Spring, they are going to strike out harder and harder.

How much of this is in preparation for a larger war?
How much is Iran seeking to destabalize the region for their own maneuvering advantage/
How much is it being done ot pressure and influence the upcoming elections?
How long until Obama uses this to take advantage and suspend elections at home?

There is no surer path to Muslim violence than through the legitimization of Muslim grievance. And once you accept the legitimacy of the grievance, then you are also bound to accept the legitimacy of the violence that follows.

Violence begins with grievance. Grievance is the pretext for violence and the narrative for the violence. Liberals and Libertarians make a fetish of separating the grievance from the violence, emphasizing constructive means of resolving the grievance. But what do you do when the grievance and the violence are inseparable?

Grievance is the stories that Muslims tell themselves to justify their violence. To explain why they kill children and why they murder the innocent. The list of grievances is an endless as the violence. Every act of violence carries its own narrative. The endless Muslim conflicts throughout the world all carry their burden of history. But it isn’t a history that can be resolved with a tolerance session.

Since no Muslim should ever have to live under the unjust rule of infidels, there is always a cause for war and a fifth column waiting to rise up and demand their right to rule over everyone else. And the war is endless… its origins written in blood on the pages of Islamic scripture.

Grievance was at the root of Mohammed’s conquests. His “I was minding my own business, preaching a totalitarian ideology that said non-Muslims are inferior dogs when someone made fun of me, so of course I had them killed and fought a war and enslaved their descendants for all time” narrative. Poor innocent me.

Muslims must believe themselves to be moral, or accept that they are mass murderers fighting wars and destroying civilizations. And they need us to accept their narrative, to view them as moral actors resisting oppression and injustice– rather than monsters spreading pain, hate and fear in formerly peaceful places. While we may not be able to prevent them from believing their lies, accepting their lies deludes us and them… and directly feeds violence.

When Americans keep repeating that Islamophobia is a major problem, Muslims treat this as an admission of guilt and a justification for violence. When Europeans accept that freedom of speech should take a back seat to Muslim sensitivities, then Muslims hold it up as proof that they don’t really believe in freedom of speech and that those who insist on it are not following principles, but are deliberately agitating against Muslims

Islam will never be satisfied until their Mahdi is installed as the ruler of the world. That justifies the need and desire for their continual war.

Islam has now spread across the globe. We have a President and administration that supports them and they think there time is now.
