Krauthammer Claims Eruption of Violence in Mideast a Referendum on Obama Foreign Policy

Islamist protesters on Tuesday stormed the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, attacked the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and brutally murdered the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans.

The White House eventually responded to the attacks with harsh criticism for the poorly made video that supposedly incited the riots and promised to bring those responsible for the murders to justice.

However, conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer believes the remarks from the White House are not only grossly insufficient, but that they are also the embodiment of everything that’s wrong with this administration’s foreign policy.

Moreover, he believes it’s these same failed policies and reliance on rhetoric that has led to this explosion of violently anti-American sentiment in the Mideast.

“What we are seeing — is the meltdown, the collapse of the Obama policy on the Muslim world,” Krauthammer said.

The irony is that it began in Cairo, in the same place where the speech he made at the beginning of his presidency in which he said he wanted a new beginning with mutual respect, implying that under other presidents, particularly [George W.] Bush, there was a lack of mutual respect, which was an insult to the United States — which had gone to war six times in the last 20 years on behalf of oppressed Muslims in Kuwait, Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

Krauthammer is, of course, referring to the president’s famous 2009 Cairo speech, which, in retrospect, seems like a terribly failed attempt at “bridge building.”

“So to imply that we somehow had mistreated Muslims — which was the premise of the speech and how the Iraq war had inflamed the Arab world against us — well, there was no storming of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo in those days,” said Krauthammer.

“What we’re seeing now is ‘al-Qaidastan’ developing in Libya, the meltdown of our relations with Egypt. You’ve got riots in Yemen, attacks on our embassy in Tunisia. This entire premise that we want to be loved and respected and we’re going to apologize has now yielded all of these results, and these are the fruits of apology and retreat and lack of confidence in our own principles,” he added.

I was awarded the Navy Expeditionary Medal many decades ago. I think I will wear it tomorrow. When someone asks me, what that medals for? I will say I received this the last time we had a Democrat in the White House who royally screwed up the Middle East (Carter) (Iranian Hostage Crisis – GONZO station 80-81)

Every time people like Jay Carney, Nancy Pelosi, Van Jones, Chris Mathews, Al Sharpton, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and a host of other liberal media talking heads open their mouths more Americans wake up and decide to Vote for Romney.. In the context of this article and video, just about any conservatives foreign policy would be better for America than our present progressive liberal socialist radical sympathizer president and his administrations policy..

I believe this is the successful culmination of Obama’s foreign policy – albiet misguided from an American point of view. This guy claims to be a globalist and his mission is two-fold: take America down a notch and return power to the other half of the world. This is evidenced by knocking leaders out of Libya and Egypt that while not nice guys, played the game. Those in power now are off the charts radicals bent on the caliphate. Worst thing for America but just what Obama wanted.

Didn’t work out well in Afghanistan for Russia, now for us. They hate us because we are not Muslim. Period. As we see time and time again we are surrounded by individuals who start with an ideology, develop a narrative and then view events and context through that ideological narrative. In short Fox News and its parade of corrupt journalists. Corrupt in the sense they have allowed allowed ideology and money to dictate what they say, rather than the just report the news and give a factual, true context. President Obama has done nothing but destroy that which took so many courageous, good men and women to painstakingly build in the Middle East over the past 40-50 years. The citizens in Iran were at the brink of tasting freedom for the first time and he stabbed them in the heart and twisted the knife by his betrayal to them. Four years to destroy all that back-breaking, life-taking toil! Is the Middle East better off today than it was 4 years ago? A resounding NO! Four years ago you could go to Egypt as a tourist destination, try it today; it may not have been perfect four years ago, but just look at the holy sad mess of destruction it is in today; and if you think it is bad now just wait, things will get much worse.
  When you take the job of the President of the United States of America, the position that holds the most power in the world and you make decisions like a selfish ignorant arrogant child, this is the result. He is the great divider! The great destroyer! The greatest disappointment!

  But by your same measure…can you tell me why the muslim world didn’t react violently to Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait and the attrocities he committed on the Kuwaitis there? You’ll recall the pictures of Kuwaitis hung from telegraph poles and machine gunned by Iraqi deathsquads?
  
  Perhaps muslims are just a lot more forgiving if one of their own is doing the invading and butchering? Yes?
