Romney Essentially Calls Obama a Liar: ‘The President Tends to, How Shall I Say it, to Say Things That Aren’t True’

Mitt Romney said preparation for his upcoming debates against President Barack Obama has led him to recognize that Obama tends to “say a lot of things that aren’t true” — essentially calling him a liar.

In an interview with George Stephanopolos for ABC News’ “Good Morning America” broadcast Friday, the Republican presidential nominee was asked what he’s learned about Obama as a debater, with the two set to face off for the first time Oct. 3. Romney responded that he thinks Obama is “going to say a lot of things that aren’t accurate.”

“I think the challenge that I’ll have in the debate is that the president tends to, how shall I say it, to say things that aren’t true,” Romney said. “I’ve looked at prior debates. And in that kind of case, it’s difficult to say, ‘Well, am I going to spend my time correcting things that aren’t quite accurate? Or am I going to spend my time talking about the things I want to talk about?’”

Pressed how he would respond to that when facing off against Obama, Romney replied, “it’s a challenge you always have. And that’s a judgment you make.”

  Obama’s style is to speak and leave the interpretation up to the listener. Each listener decides in his/her mind what he means. Obama is an expert in talking out of both sides of his mouth. He tells both sides what they want to hear. You only hear what you agree with or that which supports your belief and you think he is telling you the truth.   Chehaliswa, rather than calling Romney a liar, please be specific on the lies he has told. State the lie, then provide us with information to support your accusation. That will be much more impressive than just ranting. On the other hand, I can list several things Obama has said about which he has been proved to lie. For example, he said Bill Ayers was just an ‘acquaintance’ and that they had not had much contact. I could go on and on. So, please start listing these so-called lies that spew from Romney’s mouth. Romney lie – “the President loosened the work requirement in Welfare to Work” – truth – HHS approved 10 waivers for states to put in place their own work programs with the requirement their performance was better. So actually the work requirement was tightened. Romney lie – “the President is cutting Medicare” – truth no reduction in benefits, the reductions in provider payments agreed to by hospital and drug industries offsets the additional payments they will get from more people being insured. So Medicare won’t have to subsidize the free riders. Romney lie – “the President apologized first in Libya embassy” – truth the President did not make the statement, Romney looked like a fool. Ryan lie – “Despite the auto bailout an auto plant closed in my state” – truth there are more than a few pictures of the plant closing on Dec. 23, 2008 before the President took office. Now do yourself a favor and start actually reading and understanding the facts. What you call the truth is mindless ideological garbage from individuals who work for a media giant owned by Bain Capital. Can you imagine the conspiracy GB would come up with if the PRESIDENT had worked for Bain Capital.

  @AvengerK Romney didn’t state that, he said the PRESIDENT apologized before condemning the attacks. Romney didn’t chastise the embassy personnel, the ambassador or Hillary. He specifically said the PRESIDENT apologized first. His statement was a lie and my bet is on him and his advisers knowing it was a lie when he said it. No chance you are gonna admit the truth he are ya. Hey I have admitted several times that the PRESIDENT has been a deer in the headlights on occasion. But unlike the angry mob I don’t think he is a marxist, communist, socialists who is trying to destroy the country. He says “the embassy in Cairo issued a statement after they had been breached.   There’s nothing wrong with going back in time,
  when life was simpler & humanity sweeter.
  Ward & June Cleaver in the White House would be a joy.
  Romney & his stellar team CAN turn this around.

  I thought that at first, too. I didn’t vote for him in the primaries, because, as I said, I have a pair of Romney shoes in my closet, called flip-flops. But, if Romney can be for the states to choose as a Governor, but “evolve” to believe the federal government shouldn’t pay for abortions, that’s not really flip-flopping. And what about Obama? He was pro marriage, before he was pro gay-marriage. Is that not a flip-flop, too?
