JERUSALEM (AP) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insinuated in an interview published Friday that Israel cannot entirely rely on the U.S. to act against Iran’s suspect nuclear program, a sign that the Israeli leader is not backing down from the sharp rhetoric that strained relations this week with the Obama administration.
Netanyahu has been arguing in recent weeks that Iran is getting close to acquiring nuclear weapons capability, a claim Iran denies. He has been pushing the U.S. to commit to the circumstances under which the U.S. would lead a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders have repeatedly hinted that if the United States does not attack, Israel will.
“I hear those who say we should wait until the last minute. But what if the U.S. doesn’t act? It’s a question that must be asked,” Netanyahu told Israel Hayom, in an interview marking the Jewish New Year.
The paper, a free mass-circulation daily, is funded by Netanyahu’s billionaire Jewish-American supporter Sheldon Adelson.
The Obama administration also suspects Tehran is seeks to become a nuclear power and says it is committed to preventing a nuclear Iran, but insists more efforts must be made before resorting to military action. Washington is refusing to be specific about what exactly would necessitate a strike on Iran and has rejected an Israeli demand for “red lines” that cannot be crossed.
Earlier this week Netanyahu issued a rebuke of the U.S. cautious stance, perceived as an indirect swipe at the Obama administration. He said that “those in the international community who refuse to put red lines before Iran don’t have a moral right to place a red light before Israel.”
Netanyahu’s harsh rhetoric has drawn criticism in Israel and abroad. It even prompted a leading Jewish-American senator to take the extraordinary step of publicly rebuking him. Some have charged that Netanyahu’s comments were aimed at helping his longtime friend and Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, in his November election showdown with President Barack Obama.
In the interview, Netanyahu strongly rejected the claims.
“I am guided not by the elections in United States but by the centrifuges in Iran,” he said. “If the Iranians were to say ‘stop’ and cease enriching uranium and preparing a bomb until the end of the elections in the United States then I could wait.”
Adding to tensions, Romney criticized Obama at a New York fundraiser on Friday for allegedly not planning to meet in person with Netanyahu on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meetings later this months.
Earlier this week Obama called Netanyahu and the White House followed up the phone call with a rare late-night statement denying reports of a rift. Netanyahu’s office said the two men had a “good conversation.”
White House spokesman Jay Carney downplayed any signs of discord with Israel.
“The president has made clear that he is committed to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. We are completely in sync with Israel on that matter. There is no daylight between the United States and Israel when it comes to the absolute commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon,” he said

Sep. 15, 2012 at 10:54amSo, Ares338, you still reckon that you are going to get a chance to vote on 6 Nov?
Let’s play “what if,” just hypothetical, of course:
1. What if a nation elected a President who in July 2008 had called for the formation of a “Civilian National Security Force, just as powerful, just as well equipped as the US military?”
2. What if a nation saw a President allow the New Black Panthers who were CONVICTED of voter intimidation in Philly to be set free?
3. What if a sitting US President allowed the sale of at least 2,000 high caliber weapons to Mexican drug cartels and directed the CIA to launder the cartel’s drug profits?
4. What if that same President decreed that 1.2 million illegal aliens be given the right to stay here in the United States?
5. What if a sitting US President invited the head of an organization, ISNA, named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the HLF terror trial to dinner at the White House?
6. What if that same President told his AG to sue AZ for enforcing immigration laws?
7. What if the same President directed his DHS to order 1.2 billion rounds of 40 caliber, high caliber, hollow point ammo?
8. What if that President’s Chief-of-Staff was known to declare to never allow a crisis to be wasted?
Now, having painted that picture of events that, hypothetically, may have occurred in a nation over the last 3.5 years, do you feel that it’s plausible to conclude that world events might cause the same President to declare a postponeme

Sep. 15, 2012 at 11:58amIf ANYONE thinks that Israel cannot stand alone and take out Iran, then you do not know the Bible very well. ISRAEL IS THE APPLE OF GOD’S EYE. ISRAEL BELONGS TO GOD and when you begin messing with God directly, then you are sealing your fate very quickly. GOD WILL PROTECT ISRAEL ALWAYS AND THRU ANYTHING. GOD WILL HELP ISRAEL IN ALL WAYS. IRAN IS NO MATCH FOR ISRAEL. ISRAEL IS A MIGHTY LITTLE NATION AND STRONGER THAN THE USA!
Israel needs no one. Their military capabilities are phenomenal. They have weaponry the USA can only dream about. I say that because I KNOW and that is all I can say.
And because the USA will not back Israel or be her ally, America is a doomed nation. Therefore, Americans need to get this current President out of office before it is too late.
If you do not read your Bible, I suggest you read Revelation first. We are almost there. I would suggest to Israel: NUKE IRAN BEFORE NOVEMBER. Because neither candidates in the USA will back you, even if Romney says he will. He is a peacemaker not a warmonger and I say that strongly. Obama will tear down Israel verbally. Romney will act as if it is not happening on his watch.
I WOULD SUGGEST THAT ALL AMERICANS WHO READ THIS, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL POLITICIANS AND TELL THEM TO SUPPORT ISRAEL IN WHATEVER DECISION ***ISRAEL*** MAKES. If you do not, we will also be destroyed by enemies within AND YOU WILL BE SORRY, VERY VERY SORRY.

Sep. 15, 2012 at 3:33pmI wish people would realize that the country of Israel is NOT the nation of Israel spoken of in the Bible. It is identity-theft. The country of Israel is the nation of JUDAH. Judah was taken into captivity by King Nebuchadnezzar and 70 years later was released by Cyrus the Great to return to Jerusalem.
Israel was taken into captivity by the Assyrians and never returned. Later they migrated north and were assimilated. You would be amazed at where the nation of Israel is today. The nation of Israel is also referred to as “the lost 10 tribes.” Not because nobody knows WHERE they are; it’s because they don’t know WHO they are.
Note the times the nations of Israel and Judah were fighting in the Bible. They are NOT the same.

If Israel wants our weapons, then I have no problem with our country selling to them. However, that is most certainly not what the article here is reporting Israel is saying. If Israel believes its best choice in dealing with Iran is a preemptive strike, then they should go for it; but it should be perfectly clear that we aren’t going to be backing them up if they start a war.

Curious. The Israelis wanted no such guarantee, and acted without prior US backing, when they attacked Iraq’s nuclear reactor in 1981 and Syria’s in 2007.
What is different today? US politics, wherein one party has put itself in thrall to what Pat Buchanan once called Israel’s “amen corner.” Half of them not only do not fear, they positively want, half the Middle East to be turned into glass. So Jesus will come again. Fools.

For starters who said they’d be the ones using it? Iran is a State Sponsor of Terrorism. Any jihadist group could use it.
NK bows to China. China doesn’t want to start a nuclear war (for now), because they are blooming economically and not driven by Islamic fury. But a weakling like Hussein who is intent on downsizing our military, could shift the balance of power against us.
STUPID Carter allowed Pakistan to go nuclear, and when the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, things went south for us. Bush unseated them, but he did not secure the Af-Pak border and instead turned his focus on Iraq. That was a terrible mistake, but I cut him some slack because the Hanoi Dims were relentless in their efforts to make us lose both wars. Then along came Hussein and wrecked the shaky political clout we had in Pakistan. He polarized Pakistan, like he has done America. They hate our guts and Pakistan IS absolutely a clear and present danger, one the state media pretends does not exist. It can blow in our face anytime.
If you think the Islamists in either Iran or Pakistan think logically, you are naive beyond words. Iran will complete its present takeover of Iraq, invade the other oil countries and attack Israel, in some order. The other ME countries have secretly begged BO to let Israel neutralize Iran, but the whole world knows Barack is a p utz.

“Leave Israel without allies thus encouraging Arabs to attack.”
Where did I say leave them without allies? I said we shouldn’t give them a blank check to start a war that WE do not want. Why would you have us beholden to non-Americans?
“If the Israelis conventional force lose & Israel’s border crumble, watch 200 nukes start flying.”
Many people here would be happy with such a result. Israel’s loss would be lamentable, but “200 nukes flying” would glass the entire Middle East. Some folks think it’s worth it. I’m not one of them. But you know what would start that conclusion sooner than any other action? Following Israel into a war that they made themselves.
“Then smile & take a bow, because you helped turn public opinion against Israel & you will have part ownership of the outcome.”

Nuclear attack will not stop with Israel. It is not only them they want to obliterate.
——-
A lot of things are being left unsaid in the aftermath of the jihadist attack on the consulate. For example, nobody has tied this attack to an identical one that took place exactly one year ago against the Israeli embassy in Cairo. The reason the Israeli ambassador did not suffer the same fate as Stevens was that the military, not Morsi, was still in control. Barack called the military on behalf of Israel, in part because he had no other choice, but also because he didn’t want the “democratic” transition of power to be marred by violence.
So, in order of importance, Islam attacks the Little Satan first on 9/9/2011 and then the Great Satan on 9/11/2012.
@NEWLIFE
If Obama has a different view on our support to Israel… just be honest about it instead of the farce he puts forth.
Hussein can lie to Dim Jews all day long, but he hates Bibi so bad he can’t hide it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3Q2ELOSM8s&feature=relmfu

Sep. 15, 2012 at 8:00amPM Benjamin Netanyahu may the strength of David be with you. The American’s who are awake pray for Israel and Jerusalem and our own sovereignty as well. Bless you sir, May God’s might be with you and I pray that there are enough good, brave people in the US Pentagon who will come to their senses and help defend our best ally.

Sep. 15, 2012 at 8:59amI have always felt, as a Christian, it is our duty, commanded by God, to protect Israel. Therefore if Israel is attacked I will be the first one there to help defend her! I go where GOD tells me to go. Time for games are over an the times for serious men have begun! I will just have to get around that pesky TSA.

It is more vast than that. Shh. Don’t look now, but the Jews own your posts.
If you only knew… I’d say about 75% of my posts are censored especially when I spell out facts concerning you know who like I attempted to do earlier today in response to walkabout… Let me try one more time leaving out the magic word.. lol
Ok Walkabout I agree with your little ziono god Glenn Beck on some points such as how detrimental Obama’s Czars are to the Republic.. Whether it’s Axlerod, Emmanuel, Summers, Pannetta, Feinstein, Lieberman, Boxer, Barney frank, Bernanke, or Beck’s favorite Sunstein (especially Sunstein).. Didn’t Beck say repeatedly that he was the most dangerous man in the country? lol
Ok and what do they all have in common walkabout? They’re not all Muslims are they? lol
Allow me to laugh at your ignorance a little more… lol Because you people are blind ignorant dopes worshipping your little ziono rodeo clown!

Sep. 15, 2012 at 7:58amIsrael is an important ally. Obama treats them with disdain and disrespect. The Muslim in the White House is going to watch Al Queada take over the Middle East, while refusing to help Israel with Iran. And he keeps sending billions to these Middle East countries falling to terrorists. What an ignorant President. He makes me ill.

Sep. 15, 2012 at 7:39amAll these riots are going on to: END FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS! and ESTABLISH SHARIA. ….. and make it INTERNATIONAL LAW. Our government is totally infiltrated and This is what they want! It is beyond belief, but true. Especially the State Department and includes McCain and Rubio. Glad he was not picked as VP!!!!! Turns out he’s a coward along with Boehner and Sensenbrenner.

Sep. 15, 2012 at 7:46amActually it’s the Marxist Jews in DC that are using this event to attack our Bill of Rights which they loathe!
There’s more emphasis on the video then the riots.. Consider that Google and Youtube is already completely controlled by Jews.. Jews have always took over the print and other Media wherever they have settled because they must dominate the information flow or propaganda..

Sep. 15, 2012 at 11:30amPeople just don’t realize how vast the Jewish conspiracy is.
To hide it they make crackpots like TechEngineer11. When Tech was born a Jewish doctor inserted a cybernetic device into his skull. Now they command him remotely to post anti Jewish diatribes so outlandish that no one but no one will give any credibility to the world wide Jewish conspiracy.
Sinister isn’t it.

Sep. 15, 2012 at 7:23amObama’s words clothed in vagueness is the undoing of a strong, Constitutional foreign policy. This inept man is more interested to be seen cockily walking across the stages of Jay Leno or David Letterman, than he is in taking a strong constitutional stand on the world’s stage.
I don’t see much improvement in the Mittster, either. My advice to Bibi…do what needs to be done.

Sep. 15, 2012 at 7:44amNo if the Jew want to start a War then the Jews will have to fight there on War. We’ve squandered enought money on Israel and their Middle East Wars already.
It’s time for Israel to learn how to get along with and live with its neighbors without being a bully and a dictator.
And please let’s quit calling Obama who I personally hate a Muslim when he was handpicked and completely surrouned by Marxist Jews… Can we just look at the facts around us and not all of hot air being spewed by Hannity, Beck, Oreilly, Limbaugh and the rest of the “rodeo clowns”….
