Will Popular Television Shows Soon Begin Pushing ‘ObamaCare’?
The New York Times is reporting that California is resorting to unconventional methods of convincing its residents of the “benefits” of what is known as “ObamaCare.” While advertisements are usually clearly stated as such, apparently Americans could soon see pro-health care reform messages in some of the nation’s most popular television shows.
The New York Times explains:
Realizing that much of the battle will be in the public relations realm, the[California Health Benefit Exchange] has poured significant resources into a detailed marketing plan — developed not by state health bureaucrats but by the global marketing powerhouse Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, which has an initial $900,000 contract with the exchange. The Ogilvy plan includes ideas for reaching an uninsured population that speaks dozens of languages and is scattered through 11 media markets: advertising on coffee cup sleeves at community colleges to reach adult students, for example, and at professional soccer matches to reach young Hispanic men.
And Hollywood, an industry whose major players have been supportive of President Obama and his agenda, will be tapped. Plans are being discussed to pitch a reality television show about “the trials and tribulations of families living without medical coverage,” according to the Ogilvy plan. The exchange will also seek to have prime-time television shows, like “Modern Family,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and Univision telenovelas, weave the health care law into their plots.
“I’d like to see 10 of the major TV shows, or telenovelas, have people talking about ‘that health insurance thing,’ ” said Peter V. Lee, the exchange’s executive director. “There are good story lines here.” [Emphasis added]
The article does not say whether Lee, who refers to the overhaul as “that health insurance thing,” has read the roughly 2,500 page bill that Americans will soon have to conform to.

In this publicity photo released by ABC, Rico Rodriguez, left, and Sofia Vergara are shown in a scene from Modern Family."
The New York Times continues:
The exchange itself has so far been financed by three grants, worth $237 million, from the federal government. Most of the money is committed to consultants, including Accenture, which has a $327 million contract to build and support the initial operation of the enrollment portal.
[...]Despite the full-throttle approach here, another uncertainty is the outcome of the presidential race. Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee, has vowed to repeal the health care law and restructure Medicaid, not only scrapping the planned expansion but making the program much leaner. Even without a repeal, Republicans could undo the federal subsidies and other financing for the law if they won the presidency and even a narrow majority in the Senate.
“If the federal funding stopped,” Mr. Lee said, “we would be at a ‘press reset’ button.” [Emphasis added]
Apparently only 17% of California voters in an August 20 Field Poll said they were familiar with the specifics of the insurance exchange that will soon be a major component of the health care system, though 54% said they supported the new legislation.
“The fact that very few people have heard about us isn’t an issue,” Mr. Lee said confidently. “Come back in a year.”

Answer to question: YES. I fully expect every outlet, radio, tv, news, broadcast, Cable etc…everything to go all out now until election. THEY KNOW that dope is losing and you can expect an almost hysterical, manic floundering trying to support the WORST, MOST UNAMERICAN PRESIDENT we’ve ever had… PS…someone needs to TELL BILLY CLINTON that he’s sullying what’s left of his Presidential Legacy by backing this Muslim in the WH. IF Obama really had the plans, the means, the wherewithall to fix this economy…what is he waiting for? He controlled it all from 2006 onward until 2010 and solidly from 2008. BILLY looks as bad in that ad as he did when he furiously tried to proclaim ” I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN”. Trash.

Believe it or not, back in the spring, over 5″ of rain fell right over the place.ONLY OVER THE PLACE. It was freaky, ya know? I’m half-tempted to pull a Pontius Pilate on ‘em. Their local programming always led my area too. They even have TWO complete channels now. I think they should give abc the boot and go indie, instead of peddling their tow-the-party-line nonsense. I agree with you. It is pretty sleazy of the Obama administration to hand over $237 million of taxpayers money in grants to an organisation that it then asks to promote Obamacare.
At this time it seems that your nation is split roughly down the middle in the polls (on average) and the gloves are definitely off. I keep waiting for the Romney campaign to land a few blows, but they don’t quite seem to. They should be caning Mr Obama for his muddled and ineffective response to the embassy attacks, which have even outraged the left, but they seem to be letting that one slip away.

The ‘title’ of your post is extremely accurate “Commie Propaganda: 2012″. But you shouldn’t put yourself down like that. In fact, there is a slight possibility [albeit a VERY SLIGHT possibility] that you are not a self-proclaimed commie. I am sure that you, like the other multitudes of GOPTP idiots and court jesters, misuse and interchange the terms commie with socialist and vice-versa! Take it from me, although I never met you, I can tell from reading your posts that you, my dear little mentally-challenged friend, must have been home-schooled like Dubya, speaking of the little Texan Troll….. George W. Bush was the worst president. He left office with two hateful and unwanted wars and is to blame for hundreds of thousands of deaths. He almost destroyed the country by deregulating the banks and he left the country with tens of trillions of dollars in debt. Had he been a good president, there would have been no need for a bailout. Bush is still getting large sums of money from oil interests. He should be serving a life sentence in a federal prison. And let’s not forget Richard Nixon. These fine presidents were all supposed to be conservatives.
Mitt Romney is a man of great wealth, with billions of dollars. He seems to have all that America has to offer, but one thing he doesn’t have yet is to be the most powerful man in the world. This is a GOP that is gone with the wind.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 1:27amHe can take a que from Oblameus and write an Executive Order to repeal it and it will be repealed just like it was law. Seems to work for Oblameus, why not for Romney, tell me that, VERSE?

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 2:03amNo Romney and Ryan will defund Obamacare with help from congress, not implement it and to stop the promotion of Obamacare. Then they have time to work to repeal it. And come up with the republican solution. Not Romneycare, but a real free market solution, hopefully, Rather just repeal Obamacare and do nothing else than have Romneycare replace Obamacare.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 1:37amI think we watch more stuff on Netflix than regular TV, but then we NEVER watched regular networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, or MTV. We watch History channel, SyFy, ME-TV, USA, AMC, FX, and Fox News. The rest were just wasted money,
