Beck: ‘It’s Not the Film’ That’s Sending the Middle East ‘Up in Flames’
Glenn Beck told a Cincinnati crowd Saturday night that it’s not an anti-Islam film that’s causing the Middle East to go “up in flames” — but even if it were, it’s still speech that must be protected.
The 14-minute trailer for “Innocence of Muslims” depicts the Prophet Muhammad as an adulterer, murderer and child molester and has been blamed in part for sparking mob violence in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Sudan and elsewhere. Libyan officials have said the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other American personnel was pre-planned.
“They’re blaming it on a film,” Beck told the FreePAC Ohio rally. “I got news for you — it’s not the film, and even if it was a film, as you much as you might disagree with that film, as much as we might think that that’s a despicable film or whatever, it’s a film.”
Beck said the right to free speech and freedom of expression, no matter how distasteful, must be protected.
“We have a right to voice our opinion no matter how offensive it is, you have a right to speak out,” he said. “The only speech worth fighting for is the speech that no one wants to hear. The only speech that’s worth standing for is the speech that you might personally despise because if it’s that speech, next it’s your speech and then it’s your speech and your idea. More voices not less.”

On the night that he unveiled TheBlaze’s new Action Center, Beck also blasted the mainstream media, calling it “out of control” and “beyond repair.” He compared it to an Apple computer product: “You buy it and it breaks and then you take it in and then they listen to it for some reason….and then the guy in the black T-shirt who’s about 12 years old says ‘oh sorry, we’re not going to be able to fix that you’re just going to have to buy a new one.”
“That’s the mainstream media: it’s not fixable. You’re going to have to buy a new one,” Beck said.
He accused the mainstream media of missing “the biggest story of possibly the last 100 year”: activists like those gathered at FreePAC who have stood up around the country and demanded responsible change.
“It has denigrated you, it has dismissed you, it has miscast you. It has tried to discourage you every step of the way but it has never recognized what you’ve done,” Beck said. “Historians will, but the mainstream media will not.”
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. The man who made the film did not call for the “killing” of Muslims. He merely “exposed” their false prophet Mohammad for what he truly is.
The film maker should not be arrested or persecuted. He did not call for violence against anyone.
Look at how many unflattering films that have been made about Jesus and God. Civilized people don’t react violently to mere insults, the way Muslims do. These people need to move into the twenty first century and stop acting like heathens.

Per many people who claim to be educated, enlightened and just plain better than you and me, there should be different rules for different peoples. Did you catch the article reviewing a Professor Dyson on MSNBC. Muslim hate is different from other hate. Not really sure what that means, as Dyson didn’t bother to elaborate, but let’s fill in the blanks: There is a a one way street of expectations trumpeted by many on the left when Islamic “activism” is the subject at hand. Muslims have a perpetual “Get Out of Jail Free” card.

This is the same entity that asserts you and I have no right to personal self-defense. Yeah, that U.N. is a REAL bang-up humanitarian operation. And yet our idiotic govt. won’t divorce from it. Authoritarians love authoritarian concerns. Well, if it’s anything like its predecessor (i.e., The League of Nations), the U.N. will be instrumental in fomenting the next world-engulfing conflict. It’s true, but it’s a “non-binding” resolution. So you can use it as you see fit. Convenient. Oh, this resolution is supposed to apply to ALL religion, but it was proposed by Muslim countries and only ever specifically references Islam. Of course the U.N. gave them what they wanted and our potentates made a token effort at the need to still value freedom of speech. But fear is a powerful motivator, is it not?

The power chose to make a billion Muslim enemies by supporting a million Zionist Jews. The Muslims sat on the world’s oil. The Jews sat on nothing but their rumps. It was a foolish decision made by a foolish man for his selfish, political reason. Truman the fool.

Here is the U.N. page where it talks about what is considered small arms and the registration and destruction of small arms: http://www.un.org/disarmament/convarms/SALW/

Eric Robert Rudolph, Atlanta Olympic bomber-health clinic bomber
Army of God-health clinic terrorists
Lambs of Christ-physician murder
Scott Roeder-physician murder
Hutaree-Christian militia arrested planning law enforcement assassinations
Ku Klux Klan-Christian supremicists advocating terrorism, murder, rape, torture
Westboro Baptist Church-disruption of military funerals, flag burning and desecration
I deplore the attacks on American embassies and the diplomatic staffs that serve our country so selflessly and, too often, without gratitude back home. I served with many diplomats and their staffs. Religious extremism is the most complex and unpredictable danger in the world, and an argument can be made that it always has been. Few religions are exempt. My list is limited to domestic extremist Christian terrorism, but there is no lack of cases spanning centuries and continents. People of faith tend to paint opposing faiths with a broad and simple brush in response to extremist violence and terrorism. How would you respond to Jews, Muslems, or Hindus judging all Christians or all Americans by the actions of the Klan, Westboro Baptist, or Quran-burning reverend Jones? The 4 DOJ lawyers on this case were Jewish and afraid to put names to it, because they thought it would hurt their chances. The Communists/Jews were in control of the Dem. party then. We don’t have to wonder how we would react, Christians are judged by the actions of a few extremist everyday on Left leaning media sites, articles, and TV stations. We are judged as racist, hate filled, and unpatriotic right wing terrorists as we hold rallies full of patriotic music, prayer, and acceptance of all regardless of their culture, religion, orientation, and upbringing. We talk about love of country and its founding principles, but somehow on the news it turns into hate and racism. Now there are NO examples of this hate and racism, but it is reported and accepted by millions. So being that I spent my time around Muslims in their country and thousands of hours talking to our interpreters about their religion and why it is things are the way they are, I will tell you that most of the stereotypes are actually based in fact when it comes to Islam.
As far as the groups you listed and their acts, there is one huge difference. Christians always denounce those acts committed in the name of our religion, Muslims celebrate and make national holidays out of the acts committed in the name of Allah.

A cheap film about Muslim prophet…no one killed by the film. No mosques destroyed or holy Muslim books burned. Yet Muslims riot and kill in the streets all over the world.
Well let me ask…Where is the outrage and riots over the slaughter of Muslims, the destruction of hundreds of Muslim Mosques of every sect, the buring of thousands of Muslim holy books….all in Syria by Bashar Assad the ruler of Syria. TELL ME…where are the Muslim nations? Where…are the Muslim’s who are outraged?
Bashar Assad has mass murdered over 39,000 Syrian Muslims !! Butchered unarmed Muslim civilians…men, women, children and babies.
Assad has arrested or disappeared over 235,000 other Muslim Syrian people. He has slit their throats after capture, burned them alive in their homes, burried them in mass graves hundreds at a time.
Where is this so called Muslim outrage ???
None….nothing anywhere !! Not one protest against Assad’s attackes on Muslims and Muslim mosques !!
Yet…today…and I mean right now !!! Assad is shelling with artillery, and bombing with planes Muslim cities, villages and towns…just as he has for 19 months. Not one Muslim on TV, or in the streets to protest this slaughter!
Yet here we have Muslims all across the world as “Movie Critics†burning and killing over the insult ???
What about the actual act, the actual destruction of Muslim People and their Holy places of worship?

The New Black Panthers have been calling for the annihilation of the White race for a long time, but no one has arrested any of them. Even though what they are saying, is promoting Black on White violent crimes and murder, which crosses the line of freedom of speech.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 12:18pmHmm, no. Speech is one thing, actions are a completely different thing and the law of the land here in the U.S. is geared to this, that speech is protected, actions (when it comes to those that violate the laws of the land) are *not* protected. And, even then, the law of the land governs the rights of the accused and, generally, how the accused is to be handled by the government via the courts.

Under the freedom of speech law, you can’t agitate or incite violence or threaten someone’s life.
The New Black Panthers are doing all three.

The Federal judge, somewhere on the ladder, would be Jewish or A.Action placed, and therefore beholden to the Communist state.

If any Whites are attacked and/or murdered by Blacks after the movie “Django Unchained” is released on Christmas Day, will the film maker Quentin Tarantino be held accountable?
The movie has lines such as “”I kill White people and get paid for it. What’s not to like ?” and “I like the way you die, Boy” to a White guy.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 12:47pmDjango Reinhardt was a famous gypsy guitarist. His left/fret hand was badly burned during a wagon fire, but he was able and determined to continue playing. Tarantino is a great film maker, but its sad that he’s using a good man’s name to wield profanity and racism. Nevertheless, its awesome that Americans have the choice to speak or listen to whatever they like. Our words aren’t censored like those of our unfortunate fellows in other lands. The Obama administration has sought to punish certain individuals for speaking the truth. God help us if he is re-elected. Please vote on November 6th.

Agree with the premise of this article, Glenn’s point and all comments contained, but just
keep in mind not all speech is protected. There is no more stringent believer in freedom
than I, but [for example] you cannot go on the internet and print everywhere falsely that a
private citizen has AIDs and molests children just because you dont like them.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 12:29pmFor the moment, it’s the film. But, yes, it will be another perceived insult in the future. History has plenty of excuses to offer for Islamic high dudgeon. When you’re RIGHT and the rest of the world is WRONG, there will never be a shortage of reasons to blow your stack. You gotta keep this in the moment. What really should concern sane folks is the consideration that some parties on OUR end will assert you cannot critique Islam or dare challenge its tantrums. Oh, they are out there. Some visit on this forum. Some are in power.
I don’t hate necessarily hate Islam, but I sure as heck find it suspect. My disdain is directed at bullies, be they Islamic or domestic. Who are the big champions of framing that which makes them uncomfortable or challenges their sacred cows as hate speech? Why, the progressives! Watch and see who asserts the best answer to this problem regarding Islam’s precious feelings is to shut up those who dare rattle that concern’s cage. They will be speaking… pay attention.

There ares some posters who predictably jump on all of these stories with a rant about invasive U.S. policy, the thorn they perceive Israel to be, and how Muslims are really cheesed off across the globe about the U.S. invasion of Iraq. How many years gone by since the storming of Baghdad?
This is about a movie most of us haven’t bothered to see. And most of the fired up Muslims haven’t seen. What’s truly dismissive and arrogant is any non-Muslim saying, “Well, that’s not really the issue at hand. They’re really tore up about U.S. foreign policy.”
Well, the ‘Muslim on the street’ interviews don’t support that claim. See what you will.
