SNL Returns With ‘Ah’ing Obama, Gaffe-Prone Romney & Bad-at-Math Ryan

NBC
“Saturday Night Live” kicked off its new season with President Barack Obama conceding that America isn’t “in love” with him anymore, but confident in his re-election chances because of his “secret weapon” — an endlessly out-of-touch Mitt Romney.
Obama — played this season by cast member Jay Pharoah — stammered through his Ohio campaign stop with plenty of “ah”s, and said, “Before we start — Sasha, Malia, go to bed. I do that to remind you that I have two adorable adult daughters and not five creepy adult sons.”
“Well election day is near and things aren’t great,” Obama said. “The economy’s in the tank, the job market’s horrible and now even my foreign policy is under attack. But there’s something I want you to know: I’m not worried. Not in the least. Should be. Seems like I would be, but I’m not. Our campaign has a secret weapon and that secret weapon is speaking right now.”
It then shifted to Mitt Romney, played by Jason Sudeikis, holding his own campaign event and declaring: “I understand the hardships of ordinary people. For example, this summer, one of my horses failed to medal at the Olympics.”
Offering a glimpse of what’s to come from its Paul Ryan impressions, cast member Taran Killam said as the Wisconsin congressman: “I said I could do 100 sit-ups in five seconds. What I meant was I could do five sit-ups eventually. Don’t worry, that doesn’t make me a liar, I’m just terrible with numbers…now let’s talk budget!”
“So America, I know you’re not in love with me anymore,” Obama continued. “But I want you to know my heart still beats for you. And I can prove it” — and he launched into the now-famous Al Green singing.
“There’s your choice America,” he said. “Stick with what’s been barely working or take your chances with that.”

As UNFUNYY as SNL is these days, they at least had the sense to put a stop to that buffoon, Fred Armisen, who thought he could do Obama. What a pathetic attempt to impersonate. But I digress. I really think they should have Obama on himself; you can’t top that hilarious act.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 2:08pmThey gave one of Biden’s gaffes to Romney. Biden asked a wheelchair bound man to stand up.
Ryan is terrible at math? Sounds like they gave Obama’s gaffes to Ryan. 58 states, 3 words: made in the USA… or was it Biden’s 3 letter word gaffe: jobs J-O-B-S?
They were, however, honest about Obama’s lousy economy and his denial of it, but I still found the skit boring and not even mildly funny – it was overly predictable. For several years, I had though SNL was off the air. Until I saw a mention of it on the news fairly recently, I had thought SNL ended with the loss of Chris Farley – or a year or so after that. He was funny. Wow, it’s been 17 years since he overdosed now. It doesn’t seem that long ago.

Or to say your uncle was one of the first American soldiers to enter Auschwitz to free the prisoners … which is not just false, the whole context is false. Remember a time in America when we used to all laugh? Remember when Americans used to vote for whoever would do America the most good instead of sticking with their party? Remember before the internet when people would get of their asses and do some good for someone instead of hanging out on internet chatrooms claiming to be better than everyone else? Now we have to have tv ads to remind children to go out and play. Maybe they should rerun the ads for us alleged adults. Get of the computer and go do some GOOD!

People get their info from all kinds of places. It is important to never used one source or a few that all only support your views as you need to challenge your beliefs often to allow for internal debate.
I remember one gb show (on Fox I think) when he introduced his writing staff to the audience and it was two people, compared to the very large team Jon Stewart uses. GB seemed to think a large team made Stewart look bad, to the contrary it suggested they did more research and provided credibility as opposed to offering opinion as fact like GB does daily.

Phil Hartman & Darrell Hammond did good Clintons and Hammond’s Gore was excellent. Dana Carvey did a very good Bush I, and Will Farrel’s Bush II was hilarious. These guys are just lame.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 1:02pm@ BIGNSHORTS.. Comedians who’s acts revolve around a political ideology are rarely funny regardless of the ideology. That’s why Wanda Sykes, Rosie O’Donnell, and Al Franken aren’t funny anymore. Ditto Dennis Miller.
The funniest comics are the ones who can slap politicians around a little for their personal habits more than their political beliefs… The late Greg Giraldo and George Carlin come to mind. Chris Rock, Jay Mohr, and Daniel Tosh are also very funny. These comedians tend to be un-PC equal opportunity offenders.
The funniest comments you hear from political ideologists come from pundits whose job is to comment on political platforms and policy but are clever enough to stray with the occasional wiseguy remark. Glenn Beck is pretty good at this. So is Bob Beckel.

Of course he couldn’t believe it — that’s not even close to being true.
2. On Wednesday morning, Romney accused Obama administration officials of issuing an “apology for American values.”
That never happened.
3. Romney also said, in response to violence in Libya and Egypt, that “the Obama administration’s first response” to the violence was to “sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”
Not in this reality.
4. As part of the same statement, Romney also said that the Cairo Embassy “put out a statement after their grounds had been breached. Protesters were inside the grounds. They reiterated that statement after the breach.”
Nope, that’s not true, either.
5. Pressed by reporters, Romney added, “I’m not going to take hypotheticals about what would have been known what and so forth. I, we responded last night to the events that happened in Egypt.”
That’s an understandable attempt to cover up the truth, but Romney’s statement referred to “attacks on our diplomatic missions,” not just Egypt.

Sigh.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 9:36amThe American Media is being OCCUPIED by the international Lefties and their local franchise, The New Far Left American Democrat Party. And that is no joke. Water-boarding the American people with their anti-capitalist, biased ” news.” From the BBC to NPR to the New York Times. Media OCCUPATION . ( Karl Marx must be thrilled )

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 8:08amI quite watching this stupid, vulgar show after the original “Not Ready For Pime Time Players” left. They were funny. Now, all I hear is that it’s just another way for NBC to promote their liberal agenda.

Posted on September 16, 2012 at 9:33amI’m with you there, although I still catch an occasional episode.. SNLs cast in the 1970s was blessed with a load of talent — Radner, Belushi, Ackroyd , Chase, Morris, Murray, etc. The musical acts were A-list (even the Rolling Stones made an appearance). Since that time, the comedic talent (with a handful of individual exceptions) has spiraled downward, and it’s been years since I’ve seen a band that showed even a hint of musical ability.
