Pregnant Base Jumper Dies on What Was to Be Her Last Jump
A Swedish woman was making her final base jump last weekend before giving up the extreme sport due to being four months pregnant when her chute failed to open and she fell 990 feet to her death.
The Daily Mail reports 37-year-old Wioletta Roslan was jumping in Stechelberg, Switzerland, at Via Ferrata cliff, a spot at which she had frequented before.
To add to the tragedy, Roslan’s boyfriend, Aleksander Domalewski, watched on as he too was going to make a jump. The Daily Mail reports Roslan’s mother, Halina Zaniewska-Pettersson, saying she had begged her not to jump and worried each time her daughter would take up the high-risk sport:
“I was always terrified every time I knew that she was doing the sport again and I kept expecting the worst.”
[...]
After three people made successful jumps, Miss Roslan and her boyfriend stepped up to the edge.
Ms Zaniewska-Pettersson said: “Aleksander jumped at the same time as her and could only watch what happened. He told me that she desperately tried to get her parachute to open without success.
“It did not open and in the last moment she realised she was not going to succeed. He told me that she had simply spread her arms and waited for the impact.”
The Daily Mail reports Roslan saying in a recent interview with a television station that she found “normal life boring” and was exhilarated while base jumping:
“I only feel alive when I jump. I find normal life boring. I know that death always flies with me but we only have a certain amount of time on the earth. When the sun goes down then it’s game over whoever you are.”
The Sun states Roslan had been jumping since age 19 and had performed hundreds of successful base jumps prior to this accident. It goes on to note a 2009 interview Roslan conducted in Malaysia, at which point she had jumped 600 times, where acknowledged it was “scary” but said she loved it.
According to the Silver Wings Walking Team website, Roslan also performed in airshows as a “wing walker” on airplanes. She is pictured below on a plane flown by Sten Svennson.

But at least she had more balls then most of you sitting behide a computer. Its people like her that change this world for the better. I would rather have a person like her in a fox hole with me. Then some panzee who sit behide a computer never taking any real risk. I have drag race and did other things my hole life. I knew when I was a kid and raced that bike every weekend what my risk was. Now I race cars. But I want my kids to know life is a risk. I like knowing I have the balls to go all out. When I get old I don’t want to say I wished I did that or this. I want to say to my self I tryed the things most are scared to do. If I fall I know I did what I love doing. In my eyes this woman had more balls then most men I know.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t blame that momma for this one… but your statement that it was not a living CHILD is disturbing!
I am a pilot and a father… I want to jump one day but I would NOT jump with my sons in my arms… just wouldn’t happen because I value their lives more then my own.
No matter how you slice it this is a tragedy …. there were two lives lost and who knows how many ruined or devastated as a result….!?!?!?! How is the father doing after seeing his bride and child die? Notice I did not say bride and fetus!!!!!

That is a PERSONAL responsibility. Can’t delegate that away… Wait. Plausible deniability here — It’s the STATE’s responsibility —> THEY ‘made the choice’ to regulate virtually everything the people do classifying them as ‘privileges,’ stripping away the ‘right’ of personal responsibility. — Lefties got to love that part… :-)

Posted on September 17, 2012 at 2:32pmNo, HCARTEXAS, abortion is NOT simply a decision between a woman and God, the woman is only 50% of the equation… Where is the father? If a mother can tell the father that she is keeping the child, no matter what, because it is ‘her’ choice… then why can’t the father have a say in his child’s future?
God overrules all, Period. No questions asked… but I know men who have ditched their girls faster than you can blink because their girl didn’t tell them they were pregnant, and simply went to have an abortion without asking his opinion. Possibly a minority, sure, but not every man is a douche, some WANT a family, love children.
Why don’t we hear anyone sticking up for the good guys? They had a big part in that too. Let’s keep responsibility in the right place; it takes TWO. This entire point of view takes all responsibility away from men. I know you probably did not mean that, but you should be aware that’s what you are saying.
With all due respect, those are MY children, My responsibility, and I MUST have it, I will NOT allow anyone to take that from me. My wife. My family, My choice. Just as much as it is my wife’s.

The real issue is not between the woman (her body) and God, but rather the unborn child, who sadly does not get a say being born alive, with body, soul, and spirit, when the mother has the “right to choose” lie and is answerable to Almighty God for the wrong choice.

While I grieve for her family, friends, and especially the victimized baby, engaging in risky behavior is simply stupid. There is a near-deification these days for those engaging in ‘high risk sports’. When the inevitable Bad Result occurs, there are the elegies about what a zest for life the now-dead/injured person had. I would like to hear one where the object of the weeping is described as, “Really, really, self-involved and stupid.” Sorry, but this is Darwinism at work. You may not like it, but there it is.

Like riding a motorcycle, you know you will have an accident it’s not “if” but “when” but it won’t stop a person from riding, at least until they have that accident. Then they either give up the motorcycle or get back on and continue riding.
She was obviously a serious adrenaline junkie and she really did know the dangers of her sport so she made her choice just like when I had my first motorcycle accident almost 50 years ago, I chose to continue riding and I don’t regret that choice whatsoever so she probably wouldn’t regret her choice either.

I guess. I imagine that she had a massive amount of adrenaline pumping, which is what base jumping or any other extreme sport is about… an addiction to adrenaline.
HOWEVER
I’m not sure. Usually adrenaline junkies tend to be the more calm people when it comes to certain death situations. If that is the case, perhaps she was more relaxed than she would have been if her chute opened and she was worried about sticking the landing correctly. Especially since she apparently acted out a high-speed earth-hug. If she was collected enough to open her arms in acceptance… Well, either way, we’ll not know, that’s for sure.
Everything considered, I do not mourn for the child; that baby is back with God. Innocence, complete innocence.

Posted on September 18, 2012 at 2:59pmYeah right, and where do you get your “reliable” information from?
I’ll tell you where, from an @$$wipe who calls himself “Fjordman”, a Norwegian ultra-nationalist, right-wing islamophobe who simply makes things up, and who also happens to be the Norwegian mass murderer, Anders BÃ¥rd Breivik’s idol.
Wow, good sources fool.

What was she pregnant with, a whale, dolphin, puppy dog?
If I had killed that woman here in the US, I would be charged with two counts of murder.
I drag race too, big deal. In a car with a helmet on, a roll cage in the car, on a track with an ambulance standing by. Drive to the track, race and drive it home.
Deaths in racing are rare now a days with all the safety gear we have.
I am sorry, jump off a cliff 900ft up is not ballsy, it’s stupid.
