Hannity Panel Explodes Over Media Matters Report: ‘There Was No Cover-Up!’

During a tense and fiery segment on Fox News, Sean Hannity’s panel exploded over a recent Daily Caller report that argues the U.S. Department of Justice regularly works with the liberal Media Matters to spin news reports. While Hannity set up the segment to tackle what he perceives as blatant bias in the mainstream media, it quickly turned into a one-on-one shouting match between two panelists.

Hannity began by expressing his opinion that the media is doing a “disservice” to the American people by not being honest in its reporting. The host explained that the media has been pursuing Romney’s recent “47 percent” remarks aggressively but giving President Obama a pass when it comes to his failed economic and foreign policy record.

“Do you think the sellout media in this country is doing the American people a service in exposing the truth before a tipping-point election?” Hannity asked Fox News contributor Tamara Holder, referring to the DC’s report on Media Matters and the DOJ.

Holder said the Daily Caller issued a Freedom of Information Act request and the White House complied, insinuating there was no cover-up by the DOJ. She was then interrupted by her co-panelist and fellow Fox News contributor Angela McGlowan who clarified Holder’s statement.

“When you ask for information, they are supposed to respond in 20 days. It took them 9 months for the Daily Caller to get 70 emails,” she said.

It was at this point that the two panelists began to get heated, neither one of them shy about getting in the other’s face.

“Did you read the letters,” Holder asked McGlowan, referring to specific White House correspondence related to the matter.

“First of all, I’m not on trial here, and I’m not being questioned by you. This is [Hannity's] show number one,” McGlowan shot back. “Number two, when you have the highest law enforcement in the land working with a left wing organization to spin a message, they are supposed to enforce the law.”

Hannity was eventually forced to interrupt his feuding guests. He then went back to his initial point that the media has seemingly given Obama a pass for the crisis in the Middle East but slammed Romney for a statement he released shortly after the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Holder told Hannity that he was just “upset” about Romney’s now infamous “47 percent” remarks that were supposed to be private. The host countered his guest by bringing up Obama’s comments allegedly made in 1998 about being in favor of “redistribution.”

For the second time during the show, a visibly frustrated Holder asked what the segment was actually about and got back to the previously mentioned Daily Caller report, sending her and McGlowan into another heated exchange.

“There was no cover up! There was no cover up by the left wing media,” Holder shouted.

I frequently watch FNC (not as much now that GB is gone). I’m not a Sean Hanity fan. He’s just a stooge for the GOP, and will never take any oposition side against them. Tamara Holder is a pundit for the Democratic Party, and a good one at that. It’s important to remember what Tamara’s job is, keep my thought here in context. Holder was completely flustered by the simple presentation of questions Hanity put forth (hmph, as if he’s able to present questions any other way). Tamara Holder was backpeddling, deflective, and visibly flustered. Now I understand it was a 2-on-1 debate, but it always is on that network, and Holder usually holds her own. Hopefully Romney recognizes this and just lays his cards on the table. Like Scott Walker learned, when the people really know where you stand, and believe you’re leading them in the right direction, they will follow you. I think I know what Romney wants to say. He makes all of us read between the lines. I wish he’d just come out and say, we’re going to cut entitlements in order to save the Republic.

  I’m not libertarian and I am not for Ron Paul. Get this I am Conservative and for the tea party people like Rick Santorum and Allen West. Hannity is doing a good job. However I’ve latched on to other people who I like. Namely Mark Levin, Dana Loesch, Rusty Humphries, Ezra Leveant, who I found clips from online from Canada, Glenn Beck, and others.

  I only ask one question of Obama-how can you run a business small or large without a budget.
  The USA is a very large business.
  It appears from what is know of Obama, he has never ran or had responsibility for running a business of any type.
  Taking a hard look at what needs to be done to get spending under control.
  Paying $8.5 billion per day in interest-needs to be addressed.
  The shape the USA is in right now is dire.It will take some tough decisions to get the ship righted.
  Obama has had 4 years for hope and change-what ever hope and change was-it failed miserably

And Hannity, well, all I can say is, if you love hearing him interrupt you when you disagree with him, if you like his constant rudeness, if you like his 1-hour long diatribe of reprisals against everyone but his own methods, then I guess he’s your entertainment for the day.

  The news media – ABC,CBS and NBC were all in the tank for Carter just like they are today. Half the country was laid off. The UAW was backing Carter with no one buying a new car at 21% interest and new homes at 17%. I told my wife that 4 more years of Carter & we would be using Russian Rupals for currency. Back in 1980 it was like now the rich got richer and the poor got poor. Most of the 47% don’t even notice that under Obama their grocery bill has increased by 30% and now we have $4.00 a gallon gas and unless they ride a bus they are paying it like the rich but the rich can afford it, Gold and Silver has doubled under Obama. Under Carter the rich got 17.5% for a 6 month CD and more for 12 months.

As for Hannity, well, he is who he is and I don’t think your assessment of him is correct either. Thank God we live in a Country where opposing views are respected, encouraged and necessary in order to strengthen and evolve with the times in which we live.   Holder is placed in a bad spot to have to carry the water for the administration. I do not agree that she usually does a “good job”, she OCCASIONALLY makes a cogent point. If she gets at all rattled she is done for. I do admire her guts for trying to make sense out of the administrations positions and policies, something they do not do for themselves. When is the last time that Obama had a press conference where he actually answered questions from more than 2-3 reporters?

  Holder rarely holds her own. There’s something very strange about her reactions and comments on live TV. On almost every Fox News show she appears on, she starts her side of the debate with a snide remark about how she’s being “trapped” by the conservative show host (such as Sean Hannity.) She’s extremely defensive with every question she’s asked, and, quite simply, comes across as a very angry liberal with a huge chip on her shoulder. If she doesn’t like the “hard” questions asked by Fox, she has no business being a commentator on their network. I’m sure she’d be much happier over at Obama’s MSNBC where they love to cater to far left liberal commentators such as Tamara. While she may be a nice person on some level, she really does come across as an elitist snob who believes that no one should dare to aske her challenging questions.
  One last note: Apparently, even Tamara’s mother warned her about her negative persona after her first several appearances on Fox.
  If I had to choose several words to describe Tamara, they would be “very angry.”

  What is the driving force behind them reporting distorted truths or outright blatent lies. Surely they don’t actually believe all the junk they report. They are in a better position than most to have access to the truth.

  You mean the faux Romney implosion that the media is trying to fabricate to distract from the horrendous implosion of Obama’s foreign policy addedto his already imploded domestic economic policies? That Romney implosion? Actually I’m more than OK with Romney “inartfully” describing the reality of our economy that we are nearing a tipping point of having more people taking from the government coffers than producing and contributing to it. One step away from being Greece – except its far worse since the United States doesnt have a European Union type entity to get bailed out or borrow from. There is a big difference between giving people that genuinely need help a boost and deliberately creating a cradle to grave nanny state so that the Democratic party can permanently lurch far left and stay in power forever. Romney needs to embrace the best, most powerful conservative economic principles from which his 47% comment was based and hit Obama hard on the redistributionist financially irresponsible path he has deliberately place this country on.

  Who are the 47%?
  
  That 47% number applies only to federal income taxes, and does not include payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare – those taxes alone total 15%, more than Mitt Romney paid in 2010. 45 states also have a sales tax.
  
  The working poor. The earned income tax credit and the child credit can help families making $50,000 or more pay no taxes or get money back. About 60% of those not paying income taxes do contribute to payroll taxes — which means they must have some source of earned income.
  
  The elderly. An increased standard deduction for those over 65, and an exemption on part of Social Security earnings, means many older Americans pay no income taxes. Half of these people support Romney.
  
  The low-income. A family of four claiming only the standard deduction and personal exemptions pays no federal income tax on its first $27,000 of income. A third of these people support Romney.
  
  The ultra-wealthy. Tax Policy Center data show that many of the top 1% of earners pay no federal income taxes.
  
  But according to Romney ALL of these people – people like your parents – “consider themselves victims . . . who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it . . . My job is not to worry about those people . . . I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

  GONZO…all little miss Holder does these days is try to deflect and distract while insisting she’s credible. You can see she’s visibly shaken and she’s getting worse with each appearance on Hannity. Just look at the body language when McGlowan launches into her, there’s no denying she’s intimidated ignore WHACKO’s fanciful reimagining of the segment. The girl has a cauliflower mind she’s been beaten up so much and like all liberal elitists, she can’t understand why the “dumb” conservatives her aging hippie professors said were beneath her keep bettering her. There’s no coming back from what McGlowan told her that where the DOJ is expected to produce the emails within 20 days…it took 9 months (the DOJ’s reluctance to produce subpoenaed correspondence is a complaint Issa has also expressed) and lo and behold…we find that Eric Holder’s DOJ has been in collusion with Media Matters in how to spin the Fast and Furious debacle. MM is an entity that enjoys tax exempt status because it’s supposed to be non-partisan. The ramifications of this are stupifying.

  Parse it however you want, Wango. The truth is the lower 50% of the population pays only a tiny percentage of the national tax revenue. And complaining about how much Romney paid in taxes shows ignorance, willing or otherwise. If Romney’s tax rate is low it is because his income comes from capital gains aka money that has in theory, already been taxed.

  Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer. Holder, Combs, and other lefty pundits give us a clear window into the mindset of the left. They’re the best exposers of the broken-logic-thinking that Progressives put forth. And every now and then one of them says something so incredibly honest, it’s too loud to ignor.
  
  Mr. Obama is a great example. He’s stated in the past: 1.) His goal is to have Universal health care; 2.) In his mind things would be better if we’d just spread the wealth around; 3.) He’s a proponent for wealth redistribution; and 4.) [my favorite] When Mr. Obama was challenged with the fact that increasing the tax responsibility on the top income-tax bracket would not lead to an influx of cash into the federal coffers, he responded that he thinks we should increase the tax rate anyways in the interest of fairness. That’s an incredible thought. It won’t help the government. Yet it will take cash away from those who have the ability to reinvest that cash into other people. So what’s the real purpose? It can only be to punish success and the wealthy, and for no other reason than because of their economic class.

This is an awesome example of right wing talk shows. The woman on the left is outnumbered two to one, and she’s bombarded, interrupted and yelled at and talked over by two people who have no other goal than to prevent her from completing a single statement on any subject. Jeez, Hannity even threw in Bill Ayers (his OCD is showing) as well as at least 20 other perceived sins of the Obama administration. Whenever she tried to answer one question, they yelled at her and changed the subject. I guess that black lady is applying for Sean’s job.

The reason they shut her down? This woman was way too smart for either of these two people. Otherwise, why not let her answer a single question? Why interrupt her?

Watch this and ask yourself: was she given the opportunity to complete a single thought? Every time she tried to answer one subject, they changed the subject, and brought up three more to respond to. Pathetic.

She was smarter than them, and they knew it. So they resorted to the Hannity thing: just start yelling and change the subject. I gotta admit, he’s good at it. In the marketplace of ideas, the right doesn’t stand a chance. That’s why FOX pits two against one, and won’t let the one give a single response.

  You do realize that they only have a certain amount of time in each segment right? Being the “lawyer” that she is, if she was allowed to speak all her thoughts without being interrupted then there wouldn’t be any time left in the segment for them to discuss or debate anything. The bottom line is that both women were out of control and acted immaturely and never really got down to answering the question that the segment was even about.(Is the media trying to draw attention away from Obama’s failed policies and his lies?)

  You’ve condemned Romney on far less evidence JZS..the mere volume of tax returns for instance. Yesterday, you linked to an article that stated some of Bain Capital’s executives receive investments in leiu of fees to take advantage of the cap gains tax. Immediately you proclaimed Romney “guilty” (the activity is legal by the way)..while ignoring the part about Romney’s retirement agreement expressly denying him from participating in the programn.

I wish the editors at The Blaze would be more in touch with world events. Good job Jason for posting this rather than all the feel good stories that The Blaze is so noted for. I think the editors at The Blaze are just as guilty as the Main Stream Media for not reporting on critical world events and distracting its readers.

At least Glen Beck on his TV show covered the Chinese General telling his troops to get ready for war with Japan. Not that you would read about that on the Blaze.

Once again Jason good job in swimming upstream against the constant fire hose of human interest stories and Saturday Night Live links the Blaze posts at nauseam. You get the mission, your boss is part of the MSM problem.

Tamara is not helpful in any discussion. She’s rarely prepared, she’s snarky and ALWAYS in the wrong. Great tv she does not make–unless Malkin is ‘shushing’ her. Now that’s great tv!
